Rays acquired OF Eury Perez from the Astros for cash; assigned him to Triple-A Durham.
The Rays needed outfield depth with Steven Souza (hip) and Mikie Mahtook (hand) both sidelined. Perez hasn't had a particularly impressive year, hitting just .267 with two homers and nine steals in 52 games for Triple-A Fresno. The 26-year-old appeared in 47 games for the Braves last season, batting .269 with no homers and five RBI. Jun 23 - 5:32 PM

Astros signed OF Eury Perez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Perez hit .269/.331/.303 in 133 plate appearances for the Braves last season. He'll compete for a bench job but will likely begin 2016 at Triple-A.

Braves non-tendered OF Eury Perez.

Perez wasn't even arbitration-eligible, but the Braves elected to cut loose from the 25-year-old outfielder after he batted .269/.331/.303 in 133 plate appearances at the major league level in 2015. Perez has good speed and can play center field, but his bat probably won't ever make enough noise.

Braves optioned OF Eury Perez to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Perez batted .269/.331/.303 with zero homers and three stolen bases in a 47-game stay with the Braves. The 25-year-old outfielder will probably be back in September.

Eury Perez delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning as part of a 4-2 win over the Cubs on Friday.

After Pedro Strop walked Andrelton Simmons to load the bases, Perez hit a bloop shot to shallow right field to bring home two runs. The 25-year-old came into Friday's action with just one RBI over his previous 22 games this season.

Eury Perez went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Perez played a nice game hitting out of the two-hole, but his teammates were unable to take advantage of his near-constant presence on base. The light-hitting outfielder is currently hitting a light .286/.344/.321 over 56 at-bats. When your slugging is lower than your OBP, you know you're probably a singles hitter.

Eury Perez (torso) lined out as a pinch-hitter in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals.

Perez was injured Sunday when he collided with Cameron Maybin in left field, but he escaped a major ailment. He'll be fine.

Eury Perez left Sunday's game against the Pirates after colliding with Cameron Maybin in left field.

Both players were going after a fly ball hit by Jordy Mercer in the ninth inning. After staying on the ground for several minutes, Perez was replaced by Joey Terdoslavich. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Perez injured his torso but his head is fine. Maybin didn't suffer an injury and stayed in the game. Perez is day-to-day.

Braves recalled OF Eury Perez from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Perez has hit .296/.370/.376 with one home run and 28 stolen bases in 60 games this season at the Triple-A level. He has intriguing speed, but the 25-year-old probably won't play enough to carry fantasy relevance.

Braves optioned OF Eury Perez to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Perez had a chance to win the center field job while Melvin Upton (foot) was out, but it appears Eric Young has topped him. The speedy outfielder will give the Braves depth in the minors.

Eury Perez doubled twice and walked Monday as the Braves played an Astros split-squad to a 2-2 tie.

Perez is better defensively than Eric Young Jr. and he's having the better spring of the two thus far, yet Braves writers are seemingly pretty confident that Young will be in center field to begin the season. That's seemingly because Young is a "proven leadoff hitter," and Perez has just 23 major league at-bats to his credit.

Eury Perez went 2-for-3 as the Braves' No. 9 hitter against the Astros on Sunday.

Perez is competing with Eric Young Jr., Todd Cunningham and Zoilo Almonte for the center field job in Melvin Upton Jr.'s absence. He's the best defender in the group, and while he doesn't offer any power at all, he could get on base just enough to be a tolerable stopgap.
Sun, Mar 8, 2015 05:31:00 PM's Mark Bowman believes Eury Perez is the early favorite to be the Braves' Opening Day center field following Melvin Upton's (foot) injury.

It makes sense, as Eric Young and Zoilo Almonte are both better suited for the corner outfield and Perez is likely a better option than Todd Cunningham. Perez has just 23 plate appearances in the majors but is a career .305/.360/.384 hitter in the minors and has put up gaudy stolen base totals. His speed could give him some fantasy value if he finds his way into the lineup.

Braves claimed OF Eury Perez off waivers from the Yankees.

It's a good landing spot for the 24-year-old, as the Braves are lacking outfield depth following the trades of Justin Upton, Jason Heyward and Evan Gattis. Perez is a career .305/.360/.384 hitter in the minors and has plenty of speed. He should crack the Opening Day roster as a backup.

Yankees designated OF Eury Perez for assignment.

Perez was claimed off waivers from the Nationals at the tail-end of last season. The speedy outfielder has limited experience in the majors but is a career .305/.360/.384 hitter in the minors. The 24-year-old could draw interest on waivers.
