Angels optioned RHP Ryan Brasier to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The move clears a roster spot for Mark Lowe (neck), who will be activated off the disabled list on Tuesday. Brasier had made two appearances since being recalled on May 1, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in two innings of work.

Angels recalled RHP Ryan Brasier from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Nick Maronde was sent down in a corresponding roster move. Brasier had an ugly 6.00 ERA and 12/5 K/BB ratio in 12 innings over his first 10 relief appearances in Triple-A this season, but the Angels need a fresh arm for their bullpen.
May 1 - 1:16 PM

Angels purchased the contract of RHP Ryan Brasier from Triple-A Salt Lake.

The move ensures that he will not be selected in December's Rule 5 Draft. The 25-year-old right-hander had a 4.37 ERA, 13 saves and a 54/24 K/BB ratio over 59 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

22-year-old Ryan Brasier fired a no-hitter for Double-A Arkansas on Thursday.

It was quite a day for pitchers in the minor leagues, what with Brasier’s no-hitter and one-hitters from R.A. Dickey and Kyle Gibson. Brasier, a 2007 sixth-round pick, has opened this year 2-1 with a 3.28 ERA after going 7-5 with a 5.27 ERA in 14 starts and 21 relief appearances between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Arkansas last season. Never very highly regarded, he was likely only in the rotation for the start of this year because of the decision to shift top prospect Jordan Walden to the pen.
