Matt Reynolds (elbow) will face hitters on Friday.

It will be the first time he's done so since last September's Tommy John surgery. Reynolds has maintained a hope of returning late this season, but it's probably a long shot.
Aug 13 - 9:11 AM

Matt Reynolds (elbow) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday.

It was his first time throwing from a mound since last September's Tommy John surgery. "He's pretty pumped up about it," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "I think it's exciting." Reynolds remains hopeful of making a late-season return, but it's far from a guarantee.
Jun 11 - 8:42 AM

Diamondbacks transferred LHP Matt Reynolds from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears room on the 40-man roster for the addition of David Peralta. Reynolds is hoping to make it back from Tommy John surgery late this season.
Jun 1 - 1:26 PM

Matt Reynolds (elbow) played catch from 120 feet Monday.

He's hoping to increase the distance to 135 feet later in the week. Making his way back from Tommy John surgery, Reynolds is shooting to throw off a mound by June and remains hopeful of joining the D'Backs bullpen late in the season.
Apr 28 - 9:55 PM

Diamondbacks placed LHP Matt Reynolds on the 15-day disabled list with a left elbow injury.

Reynolds is working his way back from last September's Tommy John surgery. The D'Backs aren't counting on him contributing again until 2015.
Mar 21 - 8:47 AM

Matt Reynolds (elbow) threw Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September.

Reynolds initially attempted to rehab the ulnar collateral ligament tear in his left elbow, but eventually had to go under the knife. The 29-year-old is unlikely to contribute until late 2014 at the earliest.
Jan 13 - 5:27 PM

Diamondbacks and LHP Matt Reynolds avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $550,000 contract with a $600,000 club option for 2015.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic passed along the contract details. Reynolds posted a 1.98 ERA in 30 appearances this season prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery last month. He might not pitch again until 2015, but the Diamondbacks have at least secured some cost certainty. The 29-year-old is under team control through 2016.

Matt Reynolds will undergo Tommy John surgery next Tuesday.

Reynolds has been rehabbing a slight tear in his UCL for the past couple of months and recently suffered a setback. He's now at risk for missing the entire 2014 season.

Matt Reynolds (elbow) felt renewed pain during Thursday's side session and will visit a doctor to get checked out again.

Reynolds had recently hoped to return before the end of the 2013 season, but this setback should completely rule out that possibility. He's been sidelined since June 9 with a slight tear in his UCL.

Matt Reynolds (elbow) could return to the Diamondbacks before the end of the 2013 season.

Reynolds is currently shelved with a slight tear in his UCL and was initially expected to miss the remainder of the season. The team won't rush him back into action, but he's already thrown a handful of bullpen sessions and could be cleared to return in late September.

Diamondbacks transferred LHP Matt Reynolds from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Chris Owings. Reynolds has already missed nearly two months with a slight UCL tear, so this doesn't affect his timetable. It's possible he'll return late in the year, but it's more likely that he'll be out until spring training.

Matt Reynolds (elbow) has been throwing from a distance of 100 feet.

It's not clear when Reynolds will be ready for mound work, but the Diamondbacks remain hopeful that he can return late in the season. He's been out since June 10 with a slight tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of his left elbow.
Mon, Aug 19, 2013 09:14:00 PM

Matt Reynolds (elbow) is scheduled to throw Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list.

Reynolds has been shut down for six weeks due to a slight tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of his left elbow. He'll start out by playing catch and will build up his workload as long as there are no setbacks, which is obviously no guarantee. The 28-year-old southpaw had a 1.98 ERA in 30 appearances prior to the injury.

Matt Reynolds has been diagnosed with a slight tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.

Reynolds will receive a second opinion, but the plan for now is to shut him down for six weeks before he can hopefully begin a throwing program. Of course, anytime the UCL is compromised, the possibility of Tommy John surgery is there. Either way, it's unfortunate for the D'Backs bullpen, as Reynolds holds a 1.98 ERA and 1.10 WHIP this season.
