Michael Choice (hamstring) has been shut down for the season.
Choice strained his left hamstring legging out a double on Sunday and has been ruled out for the rest of the year. The 24-year-old batted just .182/.250/.320 with nine homers over 86 games with the Rangers this season and is unlikely to have a significant role going into 2015. Sep 16 - 3:19 PM

Michael Choice went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Braves.

Choice had an RBI triple in the second inning before knocking a two-run double in the Rangers' six-run fifth inning. Choice has that kind of power and ability, but strikeouts and inconsistency have hurt him. The 24-year-old is hitting .182/.250/.320 on the year. He left Sunday's game with a strained left hamstring and could be in danger of an early shutdown.
Sep 14 - 7:38 PM

Michael Choice left Sunday's game against the Braves with a strained left hamstring.

Choice will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury. Fantasy owners relying on him over the final two weeks may want to look elsewhere.
Sep 14 - 6:04 PM

Michael Choice went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in Friday's 13-6 win over the Astros.

Choice returned to the majors this week after it was announced that Shin-Soo Choo needed season-ending surgery to remove a bone spur from his ankle. The 24-year-old is still batting just .179/.251/.330 over 73 games this season, but he has some pop in his bat and should be worth using in AL-only leagues down the stretch if the playing time is there.
Aug 30 - 12:38 AM

Rangers recalled OF Michael Choice from Triple-A Round Rock.

Choice has batted just .177 with eight homers and a .565 OPS over 219 plate appearances this season with the big club. He'll play regularly against left-handers over the final month.
Aug 25 - 8:13 PM

Rangers optioned OF Michael Choice to Triple-A Round Rock.

Choice, 24, is batting just .177 with eight homers and a .565 OPS over 219 plate appearances this season. Regular at-bats in the minors would probably be good for him.
Jul 7 - 4:18 PM

Michael Choice went 0-for-3 with a walk at the plate in his return to action Tuesday.

Choice hadn't played since Saturday due to a left shin contusion. It shouldn't be an issue going forward.
Jun 4 - 3:54 AM

Michael Choice was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to a left shin contusion.

He should be considered day-to-day. Daniel Robertson has replaced Choice in left field.
Jun 1 - 1:28 PM

Michael Choice had a rough night at the plate in Friday's loss to the Tigers, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.

Choice is facing a golden opportunity to see increased playing time due to the injury to Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland shifting to first base full time, but he's hitting a paltry .190/.284/.260 on the season and looks lost at the plate. The Rangers may have to make a move to fill their large vacancy at designated hitter.
May 23 - 9:46 PM

Michael Choice went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in the Rangers' lopsided 14-3 win over the Angels on Sunday.

Getting the start in center field against left-hander Tyler Skaggs, Choice delivered for manager Ron Washington. Even more noteworthy was the fact that Choice's three-run home run, his second homer of the season, came off a right-hander, reliever Kevin Jepsen. Choice will likely continue to see the majority of his playing time against southpaws, but Sunday may go a ways toward showing Washington he can do some damage against right-handers as well.
May 4 - 10:37 PM

Michael Choice slugged his first major league home run in the Rangers' loss to the Astros on Saturday.

It was a game-tying solo shot off Kevin Chapman in the bottom of the ninth inning. Choice entered the game as a pinch-hitter and isn't getting enough playing time at this point to carry relevance in fantasy leagues.
Apr 12 - 11:32 PM

Michael Choice went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run against the Astros on Friday.

The outfielder is now batting .381 with five home runs and 17 RBI on the spring. He'll be one half of a designated hitter platoon in theory, but it'll be hard for Rangers manager Ron Washington to keep Choice's bat out of the lineup if he carries this production over to the regular season next week.
Mar 28 - 11:25 PM

Michael Choice went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run against the Indians on Tuesday.

The blast, which came in the sixth inning off of Josh Tomlin, was Choice's fourth of the spring. He's also hitting .367 in 60 Cactus League at-bats. The Rangers picked up Choice in a trade with the Athletics in December. Choice should platoon with Mitch Moreland at DH and pick up some additional AB's in the outfield from time to time.
Mar 25 - 6:26 PM

Michael Choice hit a three-run home run against the Royals on Saturday.

The homer, his third of the spring, came in Choice's first at-bat of the game. He raised his average to .333, and the homer also gave him 10 RBI on the spring. The outfielder is expected to platoon with left-handed hitting Mitch Moreland as the team's designated hitter this season but has likely earned himself a few more at-bats with his strong spring.
Mar 22 - 7:20 PM

Michael Choice went 2-for-2 and plated the Rangers lone run in Friday's Cactus League loss to the Reds.

Both of Choice's hits were doubles. The 24-year-old outfielder got the start in left field in this contest, but is likely to serve as the Rangers regular designated hitter against southpaws during the season.
