Colin Curtis - OF - Yankees

Yankee sent OF Colin Curtis outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Curtis was designated for assignment on Friday to make room for Freddy Garcia on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old outfielder missed the entire 2011 season while recovering from shoulder surgery but was healthy enough to participate in Winter Ball.

Colin Curtis underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder last Friday.

We knew Curtis was having surgery, but a timeframe for his return was previously unknown. The 26-year-old outfielder suffered the injury making a diving catch during spring training. With any luck, he'll be back next spring.

Colin Curtis - OF - Yankees

Yankees outfielder Colin Curtis will have surgery Friday to repair his injured right shoulder.

He injured the shoulder early in spring training. Curtis, who is on the 60-day disabled list, was hoping to rehab the shoulder and avoid surgery "at all costs," but he's simply not progressed well enough. It's unclear how long he'll be out.

Yankees placed OF Colin Curtis on the 60-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a dislocated right shoulder.

Curtis entered spring training in the mix for the fifth outfielder job, but injured his shoulder making a diving catch earlier this month. He is currently rehabbing the shoulder and is expected to be out for an extended period of time.

Curtis injured the shoulder making a diving catch during Sunday's game. We knew he would be out for a while, but it sounds like he'll be able to avoid surgery. He'll hang back and rehab the shoulder in Tampa for now.

Colin Curtis underwent an MRI on his shoulder Monday.

Curtis jammed his shoulder while making a diving catch in Sunday's game. The Yankees are expecting to have the results of the MRI shortly.

Curtis hit .256 with a homer in 43 at-bats with the Yanks earlier this season. He'll give the club some outfield depth down the stretch.

Curtis batted .256 with a home run over 43 at-bats in his stint with the Yanks. With Austin Kearns added to the roster, Curtis will head back to Triple-A to get more playing time.

After Brett Gardner was ejected, Colin Curtis came off the bench to hit his first career homer Wednesday versus the Angels.

It was a three-run homer off Scot Shields. Curtis has limited power, but he is 7-for-27 with seven RBI in 27 at-bats since joining the Yankees a month ago. He's doing his best to show GM Brian Cashman that there's no need for him to go out and get a veteran reserve outfielder at the deadline.

Yankees purchased the contract of OF Colin Curtis from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The team has yet to announce a corresponding roster move. Curtis, 25, was batting .280/.357/.368 over 126 at-bats at the Triple-A level this season. Though he has yet to homer or steal a base this year, he possesses a fair amount of power and speed. Most importantly to the Yankees, he is capable of playing all three outfield positions.

The Yankees are hopeful that he'll be able to play through the condition for the entire season, but the possibility of surgery still looms. Lyle Overbay will fill in at first base once again. Jun 18

A-Rod is finally beginning to take major strides in his recovery from January hip surgery. He ran the bases at 75 percent effort over the weekend and is now ready to begin working on his timing at the plate. The veteran third baseman will be activated from the disabled list shortly after the All-Star break if everything continues to go according to plan with his rehab. Jun 17
	2	Kevin Youkilis D.L. Kevin Youkilis has a herniated disc in his back and will undergo surgery to repair it on Thursday. He is expected to need about 10-12 weeks of rest and rehab, which puts his season in jeopardy. It's another brutal blow to the Yankees, who have been without third baseman Alex Rodriguez (hip) all year. Youkilis was batting .219/.305/.343 with two home runs and eight RBI in 28 games as A-Rod's fill-in at the hot corner. Jun 18
