Jedd Gyorko went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.

The Cardinals' clean-up batter plated two runs with a single in the third inning, then scored on a Yadier Molina single later in the inning. Gyorko has been swinging a hot bat this season, slashing a marvelous .351/.406/.639 with six homers and 17 RBI through 97 at-bats.
May 11 - 12:16 AM

Jedd Gyorko (hand) had a pinch-hit single and finished the game at third base Saturday versus the Braves.

Gyorko was scratched from the lineup due to a bruised right hand that he suffered Friday when he was hit by a ground ball. He's fine, though, and should be in Sunday's lineup.
May 7 - 8:28 AM

Jedd Gyorko (hand) has been scratched from the Cardinals' lineup Saturday against the Braves.

He's out with a right hand contusion. Gyorko was hoping to play through it, but instead he'll get the night off with Greg Garcia filling in at third base. The 28-year-old is off to a good start with a .346 average and six homers through his first 78 at-bats. Consider him day-to-day.
May 6 - 7:03 PM

Jedd Gyorko finished 4-for-5 with two home runs Monday in the Cardinals' loss to the Brewers.

Gyorko did his part with a pair of singles and a pair of solo shots, but St. Louis fell in extras to the visiting Brewers. Gyorko now has six home runs on the year and 36 total home runs in his 148 games as a member of the Cardinals.
May 2 - 12:04 AM

Jeff Gyorko went 2-for-4 with a homer Friday in the victory over the Reds.

Remember when Mike Matheny thought Jhonny Peralta was a better option than Gyorko to play third base regularly? That didn't make much sense to us, either. Gyorko has a 1.040 OPS at the moment.
Apr 29 - 12:57 AM

Jedd Gyorko went 3-for-5 with an RBI single on Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Gyorko got the scoring going with an RBI single in the first inning, and he later added another single and a double. The veteran infielder has taken hold of the Cardinals' third base job and has also been batting cleanup of late.
Apr 26 - 12:11 AM

Jedd Gyorko had an RBI triple and a run scored in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

Both actually came on the same play, as Gyorko laced a triple into the right field corner that Brewers outfielder Domingo Santana had trouble digging out. Gyorko then hustled home when the throw got away from the infielders. With the Cardinals struggling for offense and the 28-year-old hitting .310/.396/.643 with three homers in 14 games, Gyorko should be an everyday player for the Birds for the foreseeable future and can be treated as such in fantasy leagues.
Apr 23 - 12:41 AM

Jedd Gyorko went 2-for-4 with a run scored Friday versus the Brewers.

Both hits were singles. Gyorko, who hit cleanup, led off the fourth inning with an infield single before coming home on a double off the bat of Randal Grichuk. The Cardinals ended up plating four runs in the frame. With Jhonny Peralta (illness) sidelined, Gyorko should share time at third base in the coming days. His power should put him on the radar in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
Apr 22 - 1:22 AM

Jedd Gyorko had a big game Thursday, finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles, a homer and two runs scored in a loss to the Brewers.

The same day incumbent Jhonny Peralta hit the disabled list, Gyorko got the start at third base and made the most of it. The homer was his third of the year, giving him five RBI and six runs scored. Peralta was struggling even before the DL trip and Gyorko, coming off a year in which he hit 30 homers, is batting .294/.385/.647 in 12 games. It might be time to jump on him if he's available in your league.
Apr 21 - 12:25 AM

Jedd Gyorko contributed two hits Saturday in the Cardinals' win over the Reds.

He also walked twice and scored on Michael Wacha's RBI single in the fourth inning. Gyorko drove in two runs of his own on a sixth-inning single off Robert Stephenson. The 28-year-old utility man had been hitless in six at-bats this year prior to Saturday's outburst.
Apr 8 - 7:55 PM

Jedd Gyorko is starting at second base and batting seventh for the Cardinals in Sunday's opener against the Cubs.

Wong made waves last week when he complained about the Cards possibly platooning him at second base, but he'd better get used to it. Gyorko figures to handle second base regularly versus lefties as he is Sunday against Jon Lester. The rest of the St. Louis lineup looks like this: Dexter Fowler CF, Aledmys Diaz SS, Matt Carpenter 1B, Jhonny Peralta 3B, Yadier Molina C, Stephen Piscotty RF, Gyorko 2B, Randal Grichuk LF, Carlos Martinez P.
Apr 2 - 4:03 PM

Jedd Gyorko homered Thursday in the Cardinals' 2-1 victory over the Twins.

Gyorko has homered in his last two starts after going his first nine appearances without a homer. He's sporting a .975 OPS in 27 at-bats, giving him a 300-point edge over Jhonny Peralta as those two compete for a starting job. Peralta is currently in a 1-for-13 slump.
Mar 16 - 4:05 PM

Jedd Gyorko hit a two-run homer off Charlie Morton and walked Monday against the Astros.

It was the first spring homer for Gyorko, who hit 30 in the regular season last year. He's pulled ahead of Jhonny Peralta offensively as they compete for playing time; he has a .925 OPS this spring, while Peralta has fallen to .744. It's still too early to read much into that, though.
Mar 13 - 3:54 PM

Jedd Gyorko doubled twice and knocked in a run as the Cardinals topped the Braves 9-4 on Thursday.

Gyorko is off to a 5-for-9 start in his competition with Jhonny Peralta for the starting job at third base. After his 30-homer campaign in 2016, he seems like the better option from here.
