Jedd Gyorko ripped a solo homer and reached base three times Tuesday against the Cubs.
His solo blast off of Felix Pena went an estimated 450 feet and was his 20th of the season. Gyorko has gone deep in the first two games of the series versus the Cubs and has reached base six times. It might be wise to add him in your fantasy league if he had been dropped. Sep 27 - 12:14 AM

Jedd Gyorko launched his 19th home run of the season on Monday night against the Cubs.

Gyorko went deep for a solo shot off Cubs starter Jon Lester in the bottom of the second inning. It was part of a 3-for-3 performance from the 29-year-old infielder, who owns a cool .810 OPS through 122 total games this season. He's under contract with St. Louis through 2019.

Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) has returned to the Cardinals' lineup Tuesday versus the Reds.

Gyorko has had a couple of pinch-hit appearances since returning from the disabled list, but this will be his first start since suffering his hamstring strain in late August. He's hitting seventh against right-hander Jackson Stephens.
Sep 19 - 3:15 PM

Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) should be cleared to play the field and run the bases by Tuesday.

Gyorko has had a couple of pinch-hit appearances since returning from the disabled list last week, but he's getting closer to a return to the field. The 28-year-old suffered a right hamstring strain toward the end of August.
Sep 18 - 12:26 PM

Cardinals activated INF Jedd Gyorko from the 10-day disabled list.

Gyorko might not be fully recovered quite yet from his late-August hamstring strain, but he's been hitting for the past week and can serve as a bench bat for the Cardinals as they try to battle for a postseason spot. The 28-year-old infielder holds an .809 OPS, 18 home runs, and 64 RBI in 114 games this season with St. Louis.
Sep 13 - 3:40 PM

Jedd Gyorko still felt some tenderness in his right hamstring Saturday while running for the first time since the injury.

Gyorko feels fine swinging the bat, but he still feels it coming out of the batter's box and cutting around the bases. He has yet to resume taking ground balls. "We're headed in the right direction, but still not good enough to get into a game," said Gyorko. "Everything has been positive. This is just part of it. [I was] hoping to be a magic healer, which I'm apparently not yet." He's likely still a few days away from contributing even in a limited capacity. Gyorko has sidelined since August 26 with a right hamstring strain. The original timetable called for him to miss 3-4 weeks.
Sep 11 - 12:53 PM

Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) will run the bases on Saturday.

As long as he comes out of it OK, Gyorko should be activated at least to serve as a pinch-hitter. When he'll be ready to return to the lineup is another matter, although obviously more will be known after he goes through Saturday's workout. Gyorko has been sidelined since late August with a right hamstring strain.
Sep 8 - 1:18 PM

Cardinals placed 3B Jedd Gyorko on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Gyorko suffered the injury during Saturday's win over the Rays. The club is saying the strain is mild, but they wouldn't offer a timetable for a return, saying only that they expect Gyorko to be back this season. The Cards have Greg Garcia at third base Sunday, but they will also use Matt Carpenter a lot over there and install Luke Voit at first.
Aug 27 - 12:09 PM

Jedd Gyorko was yanked from Saturday's game versus the Rays with a right hamstring injury.

Gyorko hurt himself while rounding third base in the bottom of the eighth inning and had to retreat back to the bag rather than attempt to score. He immediately pulled himself from the game and walked off gingerly, so it's possible he'll be out a while. Greg Garcia would figure to see a boost in playing time while Gyorko is out, and it's worth noting that Aledmys Diaz has played some third base recently at Triple-A Memphis.
Aug 26 - 9:41 PM

Jedd Gyorko blasted a two-run homer as the Cardinals fell to the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Sunday night.

Gyorko's two-run shot off of Ivan Nova pulled the Cardinals to within a run at 3-2 in the second inning. He also doubled in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-4. The 28-year-old is enjoying another solid season offensively, slashing .269/.336/.464 with 17 homers and 59 RBI.
Aug 20 - 10:08 PM

Jedd Gyorko went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in a win over the Pirates on Thursday.

Gyorko took Pirates starter Jameson Taillon deep in the second inning for a solo shot, his 16th dinger of the year. He added a pair of singles for a rare three-hit night, something he's done just twice since June 21. He's having a fine year all around after settling in as the team's starter at the hot corner, batting .273/.342/.464 with his 16 homers, 57 RBI, 46 runs scored and six steals.
Aug 18 - 1:28 AM

Jedd Gyorko (knee) finished 1-for-3 in the Cardinals' loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.

It was his first start since last Friday. Gyorko, who's been working through some right knee discomfort, owns a weak .182/.267/.273 batting line in 26 games since the All-Star break. He batted .300/.364/.519 in the first half of the season.
Aug 16 - 8:46 AM

Jedd Gyorko (knee) was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup Saturday against the Braves.

Gyorko had been slated to start at third base and bat sixth but now Greg Garcia will occupy the hot corner for St. Louis. Apparently he's dealing with a case of right knee irritation. Gyorko got off to a booming start this year but has struggled to a dismal .176 average since the All-Star break. Consider him day-to-day.
Aug 12 - 6:01 PM

Jedd Gyorko is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Thursday against the Royals.

Greg Garcia will play third base and bat eighth versus Kansas City right-hander Jason Hammel. Gyorko had a big first half, but he's slashing .188/.272/.288 in 92 plate appearances since the All-Star break.
Aug 10 - 3:57 PM

Jedd Gyorko clubbed a three-run homer as the Cardinals crushed the Royals on Tuesday night in Kansas City.

Gyorko's three-run shot capped off a six-run fifth inning and increased the Cardinals' lead to 7-3. He also drew three walks in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored. The hard-hitting infielder is hitting .275/.344/.468 with 15 homers and 55 RBI on the season.
