"I think I could have played today but just giving it another day and letting it get some more treatment and letting the soreness get down even a little more," Pastornicky said.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez indicated Tuesday that Tyler Pastornicky will see the majority of starts at second base over the next few days.

Pastornicky and Ramiro Pena have been sharing the job of late, but Gonzalez wants Pena available off the bench for now. Dan Uggla hasn't started a game in a week. Pastornicky is hitting just .118/.211/.235 this season and .241/.286/.319 over 110 career games, but the Braves are running short on options at the keystone.

It was Pastornicky's first game since he suffered a torn ACL in August. If he gets through the next week fine, it sounds like the Braves will carry him in a utility role.
