No big surprises among this group of cuts. Solis showed good velocity with the Nationals last season while posting a 3.38 ERA and 17/4 K/BB ratio over 21 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old figures to contribute out of the major league bullpen at some point this year.

Solis has been out for the last few weeks with inflammation in his pitching shoulder, but he's been throwing lately with no issues. He should rejoin the Nationals' bullpen shortly.

Solis hit the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 18 with left shoulder inflammation. Given that he's still not throwing off a mound, it appears unlikely he'll be back when his 15 days are up.

Solis has had shoulder issues in the past, so hopefully this isn't anything serious. Casey Janssen (shoulder) has been activated from the DL to take Solis' spot in the bullpen.

Nationals pitching prospect Sammy Solis has been shut down with left elbow discomfort.

Solis has missed most of the season with a back injury and was blasted for eight earned runs over 3 1/3 innings in his lone start for Double-A Harrisburg last week. The former second-round pick underwent Tommy John surgery in 2012, but it's not clear at this point how serious his current elbow injury is.
