Jimmy Paredes went 3-for-3 with his first home run of the season but the Astros lost to the Royals on Tuesday.
Paredes' homer, a three-run shot, gave the Astros a lead in the fourth inning. He also added two singles on the night to bring his line to .268/.311/.439 through 14 games since being recalled. With the release of Rick Ankiel, it seems Paredes will continue to see plenty of playing time in the Houston outfield. May 22 - 12:50 AM

Astros manager Bo Porter said J.D. Martinez, Robbie Grossman and Jimmy Paredes will receive "the bulk of the playing time" in the outfield.

Trevor Crowe and Brandon Barnes will still see the occasional start, and Justin Maxwell should get the center field job back when he's healthy. For now, though, the aforementioned three will be in the lineup most days. "They're going to get the bulk of the playing time," Porter said on Monday, "so that I, as a manager, can make a definitive decision as a manager to answer the question: Can this guy or can that guy play every day at the Major League level?" Paredes is the most intriguing of the trio from a fantasy perspective, as he offers speed a little bit of pop.

Astros recalled OF/INF Jimmy Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Paredes has played both third base and right field at Oklahoma City this season and sported a robust .376/.444/.596 batting line with three homers and seven steals. With his speed, he could have some deep league value if he gets the playing time.

Jimmy Paredes will eventually move to center field once he learns to play right field.

"We're hoping right now at one of the corner spots he should be OK," Astros interim manager Tony DeFrancesco said. "The transition from infield to outfield is not as easy as some people think. Routes and angles are all different for him. We feel eventually he'll transition into a top center fielder." Paredes was batting .318 with 13 homers, 59 RBI and 37 stolen bases at Triple-A Oklahoma City before his recall Monday. He should have some NL-only value down the stretch.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Monday that Jimmy Paredes will play right field.

Paredes was called up Monday from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 23-year-old has some speed and is eligible at third base in fantasy leagues, so he should have some value down the stretch in NL-only formats.

Astros recalled INF-OF Jimmy Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Paredes has registered a cool .318/.348/.477 batting line with 13 home runs and 59 RBI in 124 games this season at the Triple-A level. He is capable of playing all around the diamond and should be plenty active down the stretch for this historically bad Astros club.

The Astros are considering moving Jimmy Paredes to the outfield.

Paredes played third base last year after Chris Johnson was demoted, but he switched over to second base in the spring. However, he is currently blocked by Jose Altuve at the major league level. "I think Jimmy is athletic enough to play any position," said Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow. Given we made the move back to second at the beginning of the year, we didn't know how Jose was going to develop and now we're looking at a 22-year-old All-Star second baseman who's going to be with us for a while." Paredes, a 23-year-old switch hitter, is batting .318/.344/.462 with eight home runs, 42 RBI, 28 stolen bases and an .807 OPS in 86 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year.

Astros optioned INF Jimmy Paredes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Paredes came to camp hoping to win the third base job, but he batted just .190/.190/.238 while Chris Johnson thrived at the plate. The Astros will play him at second base at Triple-A, but his best chance at a long-term role might be as a utilityman.

Jimmy Paredes went 0-for-3 on Thursday, leaving him 4-for-21 with one RBI this spring.

Chris Johnson seems poises to take the third-base job away from Paredes. Paredes projected to be one of the game's worst regulars anyway, and more Triple-A time would likely do him some good.

Jimmy Paredes (wrist) is scheduled to make his spring debut Thursday against the Nationals.

Paredes just recently began hitting from the left side of the plate after dealing with left wrist inflammation. The 23-year-old is slated to compete with Chris Johnson and Brett Wallace for the starting third base job after batting .286/.320/.393 with two homers, 18 RBI, five stolen bases and a .713 OPS over 179 plate appearances at the the major league level last season.

Jimmy Paredes (wrist) has been cleared to take batting practice from the left side of the plate.

Paredes has been dealing with left wrist inflammation since winter ball in January. "We’re going to have to monitor him real close," said Astros manager Brad Mills. "He’s still a ways away." Paredes batted .286/.320/.393 with two homers, 18 RBI, five stolen bases and a .713 OPS over 179 plate appearances at the the major league level last season. Barring any setbacks, the 23-year-old will compete Chris Johnson and Brett Wallace for the starting third base job this spring.

Astros general manager Ed Wade said Jimmy Paredes could be moved to shortstop next season.

The 'Stros would like to re-sign Clint Barmes, but he's likely to command more money than they can afford to give him. Paredes didn't play shortstop at all last season but has played a total of 24 games there in the minors. The soon-to-be 23-year-old is a great athlete and his ability to swipe a bag makes him an intriguing late-round fantasy option, especially if he could eventually gain shortstop eligibility.

Astros manager Brad Mills said Jimmy Paredes will continue to be the regular third baseman even after the promotion of Chris Johnson.

Paredes is batting .308/.348/.452 with two homers and three steals in 28 games since his call-up. Given that he was hitting just .270 at Double-A before his call-up, we doubt he'll continue to sport a .300 average, but Paredes can run and is worth a roster spot in deeper leagues if you're in need of stolen base help.

Jimmy Paredes roped a two-run triple in his major-league debut on Monday, a 10-inning, 4-3 Astros win over the Reds.

A memorable night for Paredes, but nothing will change the fact that he'll probably end up only being worth an own in the deepest of NL-only leagues. Look elsewhere if you're desperate for help at the hot corner.

Astors recalled 3B Jimmy Paredes from Double-A Corpus Christi.

Paredes was a secondary piece in the Lance Berkman trade but emerged as a decent prospect, hitting .270/.300/.426 with 10 HR and 29 SB over 385 AB at Double-A. He'll play third base for the Astros, but projects as nothing more than a utility player with a good glove in the future. It's worth noting that Paredes is the third player from Double-A that the Astros have called up in the last two weeks.
