Dodgers sent INF Charlie Culberson outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The move removes the veteran infielder from the club's 40-man roster. As he just signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers worth $550,000, there's a decent chance he'll accept the assignment rather than sacrificing the guaranteed money and looking for a better opportunity elsewhere.

Culberson has batted .267/.290/.333 in 31 plate appearances this season at the major league level. The 27-year-old infielder carries no fantasy relevance.

Dodgers optioned INF Charlie Culberson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Culberson is being sent down to make room for Mike Bolsinger, who was just activated off the disabled list and will start against the Angels on Wednesday. Culberson, 27, saw 27 at-bats with the Dodgers prior to his demotion. He managed seven hits (including two doubles) in that space. He could see additional time with the major league club later this season should manager Dave Roberts need a little extra bench help.

Dodgers signed INF Charlie Culberson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

A bulging disc injury sidelined Culberson for most of the 2015 campaign. The 27-year-old utility man has hit .221 with five homers and 37 RBI in parts of three seasons with the Giants and Rockies.

Rockies activated INF/OF Charlie Culberson from the 60-day disabled list; sent him outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Culberson is over his back issue but now finds himself off the 40-man roster. The utility player could work his way back onto it with a strong showing at Albuquerque.

Rockies optioned INF Charlie Culberson to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Culberson's chances of breaking camp with the big club were somewhat hampered by a bulging disk in his back. He missed a stretch from March 8 to March 25. Even had he been healthy, he was a long-shot to make the Opening Day roster. He'll serve as organizational depth for the Rockies.

Charlie Culberson (back) played in a minor league game Wednesday.

Culberson hasn't played in the Cactus League since March 8 due to a bulging disk in his back, but he got in four innings in the minors game. Culberson played defense and batted in the game. His extended absence has hurt his chances of breaking camp with the club.

Charlie Culberson hasn’t played since March 8 due to a back injury.

"We know how difficult backs can be, so I'm sure he'll have a different routine every day than he's had in the past just to stay out in front of this thing," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. It’s not clear when Culberson might be ready to return to game action. He’s not expected to make the Opening Day roster.

Charlie Culberson went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run home run as the Rockies went on to a 7-3 win over the Reds on Thursday.

Culberson has had a terrible season at the plate, entering Thursday night with a .526 OPS. But his fifth-inning blast off of Alfredo Simon helped pad the Rockies' lead to 7-2 at the time. It was only his third home run of the season, and he still has a meager .189/.244/.311 slash line with 18 RBI in 178 plate appearances.

Getting a start at shortstop, Charlie Culberson went 0-for-3 on Monday, lowering his average to .179.

Worse, Culberson has a horrific 41/4 K/BB ratio in 134 at-bats. His ability to play all four infield spots and left field would come in handy if he were hitting at all, but he's been a liability in his bench role this year.
