Charlie Culberson went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run home run as the Rockies went on to a 7-3 win over the Reds on Thursday.
Culberson has had a terrible season at the plate, entering Thursday night with a .526 OPS. But his fifth-inning blast off of Alfredo Simon helped pad the Rockies' lead to 7-2 at the time. It was only his third home run of the season, and he still has a meager .189/.244/.311 slash line with 18 RBI in 178 plate appearances. Aug 14 - 11:51 PM

Getting a start at shortstop, Charlie Culberson went 0-for-3 on Monday, lowering his average to .179.

Worse, Culberson has a horrific 41/4 K/BB ratio in 134 at-bats. His ability to play all four infield spots and left field would come in handy if he were hitting at all, but he's been a liability in his bench role this year.

Charlie Culberson hit a walkoff two-run homer Saturday in the Rockies' 11-10 win over the Mets.

It was a classic Coors Field shootout, with the home team coming out on top against Mets closer Kyle Farnsworth. Culberson was pinch-hitting for LaTroy Hawkins and parked one over the center field wall with Troy Tulowitzki standing on second base. It was his first home run of 2014.

Rockies recalled INF Charlie Culberson from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He'll take the place of the injured Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) on the active roster. Culberson is a .245/.269/.331 career hitter in the majors and can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Charlie Culberson went 3-for-4 with a home run against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Culberson hit a solo homer off of Tommy Hanson in the first inning and added two singles. He played at both second and third base, as he is attempting to make the cut as a utility infielder.
Mar 5 - 6:12 PM

Charlie Culberson bashed a pinch-hit two-run homer in the fifth inning on Sunday, accounting for all of the Rockies offense in a losing effort against the Diamondbacks.

The 24-year-old outfielder has struggled during his brief time with the Rockies, hitting .242/.250/.379 with two homers, 10 RBI and a 1/13 BB/K ratio through 66 at-bats. He still appears to be on the outside looking in for a roster spot in the Rockies 2014 outfield.

Rockies recalled INF Charlie Culberson from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Culberson has hit .310/.338/.524 with 14 home runs, 64 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 97 games this season at the Triple-A level. He can play all around the diamond and could take on value in NL-only fantasy formats if the Rockies are able to find him regular playing time.

Rockies optioned INF Charlie Culberson to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Culberson had a shot at a bench spot but batted only .185/.214/.407 this spring to earn the demotion. He'll be a utility infielder candidate for the big club eventually.

Rockies recalled INF Charlie Culberson from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Culberson was acquired in the Marco Scutaro deal at the non-waiver deadline, and will be making his Rockies debut if he enters a game. He'll look to provide middle infield depth behind Josh Rutledge and DJ LeMahieu.

Rockies acquired INF Charlie Culberson from the Giants for INF Marco Scutaro and cash considerations.

Culberson was a supplemental first-round pick of the Giants back in 2007. The 23-year-old second baseman made his major league debut earlier this year and is a .258/.309/.379 hitter over parts of six seasons in the minors. Josh Rutledge is filling in for Troy Tulowitzki (groin) at shortstop and Chris Nelson (heart) is currently on the disabled list, so Culberson could get a look at second base with the Rockies relatively soon.

Giants purchased the contract of 2B Charlie Culberson from Double-A Richmond.

Culberson was a pretty big disappointment this year after a breakout 2010 season, batting just .259/.293/.382 with an alarming 129/22 K/BB ratio over 587 plate appearances in the Eastern League. However, he still has decent pop, some speed and doesn't turn 23 until next April.
