Date:

Rangers placed RHP Luke Jackson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25, with a stress reaction in his lower back.

Jackson has been battling the injury for a month. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined.
Apr 3 - 12:16 PM

Luke Jackson (back) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday.

It will be the first time he's thrown off a mound since being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his lower back on March 2. It seems unlikely that Jackson will be ready for Opening Day, although he probably wasn't going to head north with the big club regardless.
Mar 20 - 11:31 AM

Luke Jackson will miss two weeks after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his lower back.

It is an old injury that has resurfaced. Jackson was expected to compete for a spot in the Rangers' bullpen this spring after posting a 4.34 ERA with 79 strikeouts over 66 1/3 innings last season, but this is obviously a setback on that end.
Mar 2 - 10:33 AM

Luke Jackson is scheduled to see Dr. Drew Dossett next week to have his back evaluated.

The Rangers would like an opinion from the renowned doctor sooner, but he's currently at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis looking at draft prospects. The Rangers have said that they don't believe the issue is serious, but the fact that he's having an additional evaluation is somewhat worrisome. Jackson is in camp competing for a spot in the Rangers bullpen.
Feb 27 - 11:10 AM

Luke Jackson (back) is being further evaluated to determine if there's a more significant issue.

"I think we are inclined to confirm that it's not something more major than he believes it is," Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine said. "We just want to evaluate." For his part, Jackson told the club the soreness in his lower back is normal for this time of year. Jackson had a pedestrian 4.34 ERA but struck out 79 over 66 1/3 innings in the minors last season and is vying for a job in the Rangers' bullpen this spring.
Feb 25 - 7:19 PM

Luke Jackson is currently limited to flat-ground throwing due to lower back soreness.

It doesn't sound like a big deal, as Jackson is hoping to get back on a mound in a few days. The young right-hander is a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster.

Rangers recalled RHP Luke Jackson from Triple-A Round Rock.

Jackson, a supplemental first-round pick from 2010, has mostly pitched out of the bullpen this season while putting up a 4.05 ERA with 71 strikeouts and 30 walks over 60 innings. The Rangers will likely ease the 23-year-old into the mix in lower leverage situations.

Rangers optioned RHP Luke Jackson to Triple-A Round Rock.

Jackson put up some promising numbers in Double-A last season, but he struggled with a promotion to Triple-A by putting up an ugly 10.35 ERA and 43/28 K/BB ratio in 40 innings across 10 starts and one relief appearance. Still, he's just 23 and remains one of the Rangers' top pitching prospects. He'll hope to take a step forward during his second stint in Triple-A.

Rangers purchased the contract of RHP Luke Jackson from Triple-A Round Rock.

Jackson struck out over a batter per inning but held a 5.40 ERA between Double- and Triple-A this past season. Still, the Rangers didn't want to expose the former sandwich round pick to the Rule 5 Draft.

Rangers prospect right-hander Luke Jackson struck out four batters en route to six shutout innings for Double-A Frisco on Wednesday.

Jackson allowed two singles, two doubles, and two walks while shutting down a solid San Antonio Missions lineup that included Reymond Fuentes, Rymer Liriano, and Austin Hedges. Jackson has 65 strikeouts and is holding opposing batters to a .191/.254/.280 line in 67 innings pitched. He has lowered his BB/9 rate to 2.3 from a career 4.3. If he keeps pitching well, he could spend some time in Arlington in September.

Rangers right-handed pitching prospect Luke Jackson struck out seven batters over five shutout innings for Double-A Frisco on Monday.

He scattered three singles and three walks, and he has a 3.00 ERA and a 1.000 WHIP. He has a 9.0 K/9, and is holding opposing batters to a .190/.260/.301 line for the season. If Jackson keeps pitching well, he could be in line for a September cup of coffee.
Tue, May 13, 2014 11:09:00 AM

Rangers right-handed pitching prospect Luke Jackson was perfect through 5 2/3 innings on Monday, finishing the night with seven shutout innings.

Jackson only allowed three hits and struck out eight batters in his second consecutive dominant start for Double-A Frisco. His ERA is down to 2.95 on the year with a 0.938 WHIP and 8.4 K/9. The Rangers are struggling to find more than three consistent starters, and Jackson could be in the rotation in Arlington before the end of the season.
