Rays released RHP David Carpenter.
Carpenter pitched pretty well in the Grapefruit League but wasn't able to crack the Rays' Opening Day roster. He'll look for a better opportunity with a new organization. The right-hander posted a 4.01 ERA in 24 2/3 innings last season between the Yankees and Nationals, missing time with a shoulder injury. Mar 30 - 3:53 PM

Rays signed RHP David Carpenter to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Carpenter was a surprise early cut by the Braves last weekend, but it didn't take him long to latch on elsewhere. The veteran right-hander should stand a great chance of cracking the Rays' Opening Day roster.

Braves released RHP David Carpenter.

This move comes as a surprise being so early in spring camp and given the fact that the veteran hurler was expected to compete for a spot in the club's Opening Day bullpen. Provided he's healthy, he should have no difficulty latching on elsewhere and should find work quickly.

Braves signed RHP David Carpenter to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

The veteran right-hander elected free agency earlier in the week after being outrighted off the Nationals roster. Carpenter had the best seasons of his career with the Braves in 2013-2014 where he posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 141/36 K/BB ratio across 126 2/3 innings. It's a very nice low-risk signing for the Braves.

David Carpenter has elected to become a free agent.

He opted for free agency after being outrighted off the Nationals' 40-man roster. Carpenter was waylaid by right shoulder injuries for much of the 2015 campaign. He pitched just 24 2/3 innings between the Yankees and Nationals, holding a 4.01 ERA and 15/9 K/BB ratio. He should be healthy in 2016, though, and has major league success.

Nationals activated RHP David Carpenter from the 60-day disabled list.

His status on the 40-man roster has been restored. Carpenter dealt with right shoulder issues for much of the 2015 season but should enter spring training without any limitations.

Nationals transferred RHP David Carpenter from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for one of the Nationals' September callups. Carpenter has dealt with right shoulder issues for much of the 2015 season.

David Carpenter (shoulder) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Potomac.

Carpenter has been out since July 6 with right shoulder inflammation and will likely have to make it through several rehab appearances before becoming an option for the Nationals' bullpen. The 30-year-old right-hander has thrown just six innings for Washington since being traded over from the Yankees in early June.

David Carpenter (shoulder) has resumed a throwing program.

He was cleared after a second opinion showed sufficient healing with his pitching shoulder. There's no timetable for Carpenter's return at the moment, but he should be ready to rejoin the Nationals' bullpen sometime this month.

David Carpenter (shoulder) will be shut down for 2-3 days after being given a pain-killing injection.

An MRI on Carpenter's right shoulder showed no structural damage, but the shot was administered in hopes of getting the soreness out of there. There's no timetable for his return, although he shouldn't be out long.

Nationals placed RHP David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6, with right shoulder inflammation.

Carpenter evidently must have suffered the ailment in an appearance prior to the All-Star break. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined.

Nationals activated RHP David Carpenter from the paternity leave list.

Carpenter was given a couple of days off to welcome a new son. The 29-year-old right-hander has allowed just one run in eight relief appearances so far for the Nats.

Nationals placed RHP David Carpenter on the paternity leave list.

Sammy Solis will take Carpenter's place on the active roster for the time being. In 24 2/3 innings between the Yankees and Nationals this season, Carpenter is the owner of a 4.01 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. He'll return as soon as he's done celebrating the birth of his son.

Nationals acquired RHP David Carpenter from the Yankees for INF Tony Renda.

Carpenter was designated for assignment by the Yankees last week after posting an underwhelming 4.82 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings of relief. But the right-hander was pretty good for the Braves in 2013-2014 and could be a nice find for Washington. Renda is a 24-year-old non-prospect.

Yankees designated RHP David Carpenter for assignment.

Carpenter has struggled this season, holding a 4.82 ERA with just 11 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings. His velocity has been fine, though, so it's a surprise to see the Yankees give up on him considering his 2.63 ERA and over a strikeout per frame across the previous two seasons. The Yanks should be able to find a trade partner for him.
