Diamondbacks signed RHP David Carpenter to a minor league contract.
The 32-year-old hurler hasn't appeared in the big leagues since the 2015 season. After getting released by the Rays near the end of spring training, he latched on with Bridgeport in the Independent Atlantic League. There, he compiled a 1.91 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 45/12 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings. He'll add bullpen depth for the D'Backs. Jul 22 - 9:29 AM

Rays released RHP David Carpenter.

Carpenter had a 3.12 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings this spring in the Grapefruit League. He should latch on with another team, on another non-guaranteed minor league deal.
Mar 23 - 11:03 AM

David Carpenter drew the start against the Pirates on Saturday and fired one scoreless frame while striking out one batter.

Carpenter is a longshot to make the opening day roster in Tampa after splitting last season between the Angels' Triple-A squad and an independent-league team. However, the 31-year-old has had some major-league success in the past. He has a career 3.66 ERA in 211 1/3 innings. Way back in 2013 he put up a 1.78 ERA in 65 2/3 innings with the Braves.

Rays signed RHP David Carpenter to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Carpenter was in camp with the Rays last March before being given his release. He ended up splitting the year between the independent Bridgeport Bluefish and the Angels' Triple-A affiliate. The 31-year-old owns a 3.66 ERA over 218 relief appearances in the majors. He'll try to compete for a bullpen spot during spring training.

Rays released RHP David Carpenter.

Carpenter pitched pretty well in the Grapefruit League but wasn't able to crack the Rays' Opening Day roster. He'll look for a better opportunity with a new organization. The right-hander posted a 4.01 ERA in 24 2/3 innings last season between the Yankees and Nationals, missing time with a shoulder injury.

Rays signed RHP David Carpenter to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Carpenter was a surprise early cut by the Braves last weekend, but it didn't take him long to latch on elsewhere. The veteran right-hander should stand a great chance of cracking the Rays' Opening Day roster.

Braves released RHP David Carpenter.

This move comes as a surprise being so early in spring camp and given the fact that the veteran hurler was expected to compete for a spot in the club's Opening Day bullpen. Provided he's healthy, he should have no difficulty latching on elsewhere and should find work quickly.

Braves signed RHP David Carpenter to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

The veteran right-hander elected free agency earlier in the week after being outrighted off the Nationals roster. Carpenter had the best seasons of his career with the Braves in 2013-2014 where he posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 141/36 K/BB ratio across 126 2/3 innings. It's a very nice low-risk signing for the Braves.

David Carpenter has elected to become a free agent.

He opted for free agency after being outrighted off the Nationals' 40-man roster. Carpenter was waylaid by right shoulder injuries for much of the 2015 campaign. He pitched just 24 2/3 innings between the Yankees and Nationals, holding a 4.01 ERA and 15/9 K/BB ratio. He should be healthy in 2016, though, and has major league success.

Nationals activated RHP David Carpenter from the 60-day disabled list.

His status on the 40-man roster has been restored. Carpenter dealt with right shoulder issues for much of the 2015 season but should enter spring training without any limitations.

Nationals transferred RHP David Carpenter from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for one of the Nationals' September callups. Carpenter has dealt with right shoulder issues for much of the 2015 season.

David Carpenter (shoulder) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Potomac.

Carpenter has been out since July 6 with right shoulder inflammation and will likely have to make it through several rehab appearances before becoming an option for the Nationals' bullpen. The 30-year-old right-hander has thrown just six innings for Washington since being traded over from the Yankees in early June.

David Carpenter (shoulder) has resumed a throwing program.

He was cleared after a second opinion showed sufficient healing with his pitching shoulder. There's no timetable for Carpenter's return at the moment, but he should be ready to rejoin the Nationals' bullpen sometime this month.

David Carpenter (shoulder) will be shut down for 2-3 days after being given a pain-killing injection.

An MRI on Carpenter's right shoulder showed no structural damage, but the shot was administered in hopes of getting the soreness out of there. There's no timetable for his return, although he shouldn't be out long.
Wed, Jul 22, 2015 10:48:00 AM

Nationals placed RHP David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6, with right shoulder inflammation.

Carpenter evidently must have suffered the ailment in an appearance prior to the All-Star break. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined.
