Nationals acquired RHP David Carpenter from the Yankees for INF Tony Renda.
Carpenter was designated for assignment by the Yankees last week after posting an underwhelming 4.82 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings of relief. But the right-hander was pretty good for the Braves in 2013-2014 and could be a nice find for Washington. Renda is a 24-year-old non-prospect. Jun 11 - 10:49 AM

Yankees designated RHP David Carpenter for assignment.

Carpenter has struggled this season, holding a 4.82 ERA with just 11 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings. His velocity has been fine, though, so it's a surprise to see the Yankees give up on him considering his 2.63 ERA and over a strikeout per frame across the previous two seasons. The Yanks should be able to find a trade partner for him.

Yankees and RHP David Carpenter avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

It's Carpenter's first winter being arbitration-eligible. He'll serve in a setup role for the Yankees after posting a 2.63 ERA and 141/36 K/BB ratio over 126 2/3 frames across the last two seasons for the Braves.

Yankees acquired RHP David Carpenter and LHP Chasen Shreve from the Braves in exchange for LHP Manny Banuelos.

The deal was reported earlier Thursday and has now become official. Carpenter should be a big part of a remade back-end of the Yankees bullpen in 2015, as he'll form a nice setup duo with Andrew Miller ahead of Dellin Betances. The hard-throwing reliever has posted a 2.63 ERA and 141/36 K/BB ratio over 126 2/3 frames across the last two seasons for the Braves.

Braves activated RHP David Carpenter from the 15-day disabled list.

Carpenter missed the minimum amount of time with a strained right biceps muscle. He'll return to a setup role ahead of Craig Kimbrel.

David Carpenter (biceps) is expected to be activated from the disabled list when he's first eligible on Wednesday.

Carpenter has struck out for batters over two perfect innings during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 28-year-old has been sidelined since mid-June with a strained right biceps muscle.

David Carpenter (biceps) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Carpenter felt good after a bullpen session on Tuesday and could be back in the Braves' bullpen by the middle of next week. He has been on the disabled list since June 17 because of a strained right biceps muscle.

Braves placed RHP David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right biceps.

Carpenter suffered the injury during Monday's game and the Braves couldn't afford to go short-handed in their bullpen, so they had to make a move. No word on how much time he'll need to miss. Pedro Beato has been called up from Triple-A to take his spot on the active roster.

David Carpenter (biceps) will be re-evaluated Tuesday before the Braves consider making a roster move.

Carpenter left Monday's game against the Phillies with right biceps discomfort. Even if he avoids a stint on the disabled list, the Braves figure to lay off him for a couple of days.

David Carpenter left Monday's game against the Phillies with right biceps discomfort.

The Braves are calling him day-to-day for now, but they won't really know more about his status until after he's re-evaluated. Carpenter allowed two hits and a walk over a scoreless inning before exiting.

David Carpenter left Monday's appearance versus the Phillies with an apparent injury.

He allowed a leadoff single in the 12th inning before eventually walking off the field with a trainer. It's not clear what ailment Carpenter is dealing with, but the Braves should provide an update on his status shortly.

David Carpenter was ejected from Thursday's game against the Rockies after hitting Corey Dickerson with a pitch in the eighth inning.

Dickerson knocked Gerald Laird out of the game on the previous pitch after hitting him in the head with his backswing, so the thought was that there was intent behind Carpenter's pitch. Rockies manager Walt Weiss came out to the field to shout at Carpenter and was also ejected from the ballgame.

Filling in for Craig Kimbrel, David Carpenter pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Sunday's win over the Cubs.

With Kimbrel having pitched the last two nights, Carpenter got the call to complete the sweep. The right-hander struck out one while not allowing a baserunner. He's one of the game's best setup men, owning a 1.69 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 21/4 K/BB ratio over 16 innings this season.

Closing because of Craig Kimbrel's sore shoulder, David Carpenter pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save Monday against the Phillies.

Carpenter will remain the choice to close while Kimbrel is out. That's only expected to be a couple of days, but Kimbrel owners should pick him up, just to be safe.

Braves recalled RHP David Carpenter from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Carpenter was with the big club for a few days earlier this month but didn't make an appearance. He'll work in middle relief.
