David Carpenter (shoulder) has resumed a throwing program.
He was cleared after a second opinion showed sufficient healing with his pitching shoulder. There's no timetable for Carpenter's return at the moment, but he should be ready to rejoin the Nationals' bullpen sometime this month. Aug 3 - 4:40 PM

David Carpenter (shoulder) will be shut down for 2-3 days after being given a pain-killing injection.

An MRI on Carpenter's right shoulder showed no structural damage, but the shot was administered in hopes of getting the soreness out of there. There's no timetable for his return, although he shouldn't be out long.
Jul 22 - 10:48 AM

Nationals placed RHP David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6, with right shoulder inflammation.

Carpenter evidently must have suffered the ailment in an appearance prior to the All-Star break. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined.
Jul 17 - 1:42 PM

Nationals activated RHP David Carpenter from the paternity leave list.

Carpenter was given a couple of days off to welcome a new son. The 29-year-old right-hander has allowed just one run in eight relief appearances so far for the Nats.
Jul 9 - 12:15 PM

Nationals placed RHP David Carpenter on the paternity leave list.

Sammy Solis will take Carpenter's place on the active roster for the time being. In 24 2/3 innings between the Yankees and Nationals this season, Carpenter is the owner of a 4.01 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. He'll return as soon as he's done celebrating the birth of his son.
Jul 6 - 3:02 PM

Nationals acquired RHP David Carpenter from the Yankees for INF Tony Renda.

Carpenter was designated for assignment by the Yankees last week after posting an underwhelming 4.82 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings of relief. But the right-hander was pretty good for the Braves in 2013-2014 and could be a nice find for Washington. Renda is a 24-year-old non-prospect.
Jun 11 - 10:49 AM

Yankees designated RHP David Carpenter for assignment.

Carpenter has struggled this season, holding a 4.82 ERA with just 11 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings. His velocity has been fine, though, so it's a surprise to see the Yankees give up on him considering his 2.63 ERA and over a strikeout per frame across the previous two seasons. The Yanks should be able to find a trade partner for him.
Jun 3 - 2:13 PM

Yankees and RHP David Carpenter avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

It's Carpenter's first winter being arbitration-eligible. He'll serve in a setup role for the Yankees after posting a 2.63 ERA and 141/36 K/BB ratio over 126 2/3 frames across the last two seasons for the Braves.
Jan 16 - 5:45 PM

Yankees acquired RHP David Carpenter and LHP Chasen Shreve from the Braves in exchange for LHP Manny Banuelos.

The deal was reported earlier Thursday and has now become official. Carpenter should be a big part of a remade back-end of the Yankees bullpen in 2015, as he'll form a nice setup duo with Andrew Miller ahead of Dellin Betances. The hard-throwing reliever has posted a 2.63 ERA and 141/36 K/BB ratio over 126 2/3 frames across the last two seasons for the Braves.

Braves activated RHP David Carpenter from the 15-day disabled list.

David Carpenter (biceps) is expected to be activated from the disabled list when he's first eligible on Wednesday.

Carpenter has struck out for batters over two perfect innings during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 28-year-old has been sidelined since mid-June with a strained right biceps muscle.

David Carpenter (biceps) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Carpenter felt good after a bullpen session on Tuesday and could be back in the Braves' bullpen by the middle of next week. He has been on the disabled list since June 17 because of a strained right biceps muscle.

Braves placed RHP David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right biceps.

Carpenter suffered the injury during Monday's game and the Braves couldn't afford to go short-handed in their bullpen, so they had to make a move. No word on how much time he'll need to miss. Pedro Beato has been called up from Triple-A to take his spot on the active roster.

David Carpenter (biceps) will be re-evaluated Tuesday before the Braves consider making a roster move.

Carpenter left Monday's game against the Phillies with right biceps discomfort. Even if he avoids a stint on the disabled list, the Braves figure to lay off him for a couple of days.

David Carpenter left Monday's game against the Phillies with right biceps discomfort.

The Braves are calling him day-to-day for now, but they won't really know more about his status until after he's re-evaluated. Carpenter allowed two hits and a walk over a scoreless inning before exiting.
