George Springer went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Orioles.
Springer came through with a two-run home run off Alec Asher as part of a six-run second inning by the Astros. He has now gone yard in back-to-back contests to give him 11 long balls on the year, this after hitting just three in his past 31 games prior to this weekend's series against the Orioles. Pair those 11 dingers with 28 RBI and a .243/.322/.464 triple-slash. May 28 - 5:28 PM

George Springer finished 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Springer fired out of the chute with seven home runs through his first 14 games, but he has managed just three clouts over the past 31 outings dating back to April 18. The outfielder has posted back-to-back multi-hit games for the first time this season, raising his average from .231 to .242. Perhaps he is finally turning the corner after a dismal past several weeks.
May 27 - 11:23 PM

George Springer is getting the night off Tuesday.

Jake Marisnick will start in center field and bat eighth versus Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler. Alex Bregman is also on the bench for the visiting Astros.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Springer's absence isn't good news for DFS players, as he was in a prime spot to exploit Tom Koehler's reverse-split tendencies. Koehler has struggled more with LH bats to start the year, but his arsenal tends to lead to him being slightly more effective against lefties. He's allowing tons of hard contact to both sides of the plate - 40.9 hard% vs. LHBs, 36.5 vs. RHBs - so the Astros are playable up and down the lineup.
May 16 - 4:14 PM

George Springer crushed a pair of solo home runs, helping to power the Astros to a 10-7 victory over the Yankees in the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader.

Springer got the game started with a bang, smacking a Masahiro Tanaka offering over the wall in center for a leadoff home run. He replicated the feat to right-center in the second inning, increasing the Astros' early advantage to 7-0. He also drew a walk in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-4 with three runs scored. He's now hitting .261/.340/.507 with nine homers and 22 RBI on the season.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said that George Springer will be given the day off against the Rangers on Thursday.

Springer was dealing with left hamstring tightness at the end of April, but in the case of his upcoming rest day, there is no injury concern. Hinch is simply looking to keep the outfielder fresh.
May 3 - 11:33 PM

George Springer (hamstring) made his return to the starting lineup Friday against the Athletics and went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a walk, and two runs scored.

Springer was forced to enter Tuesday’s game after the collision between Teoscar Hernandez and Jose Altuve, but this was his first time in the starting lineup since he exited last Saturday’s game with left hamstring tightness. The Astros gave him some lengthy rest, so hopefully this issue won’t linger.
Apr 29 - 1:25 AM

George Springer (hamstring) is back in the Astros' lineup Friday.

Jose Altuve (head, shoulder) is back in there, as well, as the Astros are at full strength versus Jharel Cotton and the A's. Evan Gattis is catching over Brian McCann in this one.
Apr 28 - 4:40 PM

George Springer (hamstring) remains out of the Astros' starting lineup on Thursday.

Springer hasn't started a game since Saturday, though he did sub in Tuesday after Teoscar Hernandez suffered a left knee injury in a shallow-outfield collision with Jose Altuve. Josh Reddick is in center field and batting leadoff Thursday versus the Indians.
Apr 27 - 3:06 PM

George Springer (hamstring) is out again Wednesday versus the Indians.

Springer subbed into Tuesday night's game after Teoscar Hernandez suffered a major knee injury, but the Astros don't want to push it with his tight left hamstring. Josh Reddick is in center field and batting leadoff on Wednesday.
Apr 26 - 3:28 PM

George Springer (hamstring) subbed into Tuesday's game against the Indians and finished 0-for-1.

Springer was called into action in right field after Teoscar Hernandez suffered an ugly-looking knee injury on a collision with teammate Jose Altuve. Springer should return fully to the starting lineup on Wednesday after battling through some mild left hamstring tightness.
Apr 26 - 8:48 AM

George Springer (hamstring) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Indians.

The hope was that Springer would only have to miss one game due to his left hamstring tightness, but he apparently needs at least another day. Josh Reddick is starting in center field Tuesday, with Nori Aoki in right and Carlos Beltran in left.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said during an appearance on SportsTalk 790 that he's still hopeful to have George Springer (hamstring) back in the lineup Tuesday night.

Springer sat out Sunday after leaving Saturday's game with left hamstring tightness. The hope is that he'll feel good enough to play Tuesday, but it's possible the Astros will play things safe and wait until Wednesday.
Apr 25 - 10:04 AM

George Springer (hamstring) might only miss one game.

Springer lobbied to play Sunday after exiting Saturday's contest with a tight left hamstring. It didn't work, as Jake Marisnick is starting in center field in his place, but it sounds like Springer could be back in there on Tuesday after Monday's off day.
Apr 23 - 11:13 AM

George Springer (hamstring) is not in the Astros' lineup Sunday.

Springer's streak of 205 consecutive games played will come to an end after he tweaked his left hamstring Saturday. The Astros are calling him day-to-day, but a disabled list stint can't be ruled out if he doesn't feel much better in a day or two. Jake Marisnick is starting in center field Sunday, with Josh Reddick occupying the leadoff spot.
Apr 23 - 10:17 AM

George Springer left Saturday's game against the Rays with left hamstring discomfort.

Springer pulled up running to first base in the fifth inning and didn't come out for the following frame. Nori Aoki replaced him in right field. Springer went 0-for-2 with a walk before exiting. The Astros are calling him day-to-day. Springer's streak of 205 consecutive games played will likely come to an end on Sunday. It had been the longest active streak in the major leagues.
