George Springer is getting the day off Thursday.

Tony Kemp is starting in center field and batting ninth in the Astros' series finale against the Athletics. This is just a routine breather for Springer.
Jun 14 - 12:50 PM

George Springer finished Sunday's win at Texas 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and three runs scored.

Springer wrapped up the three-game set hitting safely in each of the past three with at least one RBI. Springer has also had a very keen eye in the month of June, drawing seven walks across nine games while coming across the score nine times. He sets the table nicely, hitting safely in eight of his nine outings since flipping the calendar from May, showing why he is trusted as the team's leadoff hitter.
Jun 10 - 7:15 PM

George Springer hit a dinger for the second straight day as the Astros fell to the Red Sox on Sunday night in Houston.

Springer got the Astros started with a bang, swatting a leadoff home run off of Rick Porcello. He also drew a pair of walks in the ballgame, finishing the night 1-for-2. The 28-year-old outfielder is putting together another terrific season offensively, slashing .290/.360/.508 with 13 long balls and 36 RBI. The only downside from a fantasy perspective has been that he has only stolen three bases in six attempts on the season.
Jun 3 - 11:07 PM

George Springer went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in a 7-3 win over the Red Sox on Friday.

He walked in the first inning and scored from second base on a wild pitch. The dinger wasn't a cheap one as it came against Red Sox ace Chris Sale and flew well beyond the center field wall. The leadoff batter has a .289 batting average with 12 home runs and 35 RBI.
Jun 2 - 12:22 AM

George Springer is out of the Astros' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Yankees.

It's a planned day off. Jake Marisnick will start in center field and bat ninth versus Luis Severino. Tony Kemp is in right field and hitting leadoff.
May 30 - 3:43 PM

George Springer went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and two runs scored Friday against the Indians.

The homer capped a seven-run ninth inning for Astros. Springer has three straight multi-hit games and three homers in his last seven games. He’s batting .305/.367/.527 with 11 homers, 34 RBI, and 40 runs scored over 50 games. Springer was also caught stealing Friday and is just 3-for-6 in stolen base attempts on the year. He hasn’t developed as hoped as a basestealer, but he’s one of the more valuable fantasy outfielders anyway.
May 26 - 1:02 AM

George Springer went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, two steals and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Indians.

Springer did his job, setting the table atop the Astros' lineup as they banged out 12 hits and eight runs against Mike Clevinger and company. The steals were the most notable part of Springer's night, as the once-dangerous base-stealer -- he stole 77 bases between the 2012 and 2013 seasons as a minor leaguer in the Astros system -- tripled his season total with the pair of swipes. Stolen bases are no longer a big part of his game, but the rest of the 28-year-old's offensive abilities have been on point again this year, as Springer is now hitting .299/.364/.508 with 10 homers, 31 RBI and 38 runs scored overall.
May 24 - 9:14 PM

George Springer added two hits including his 10th homer Wednesday in the Astros’ 4-1 win over the Giants.

Springer singled off Jeff Samardzija (literally—he drilled a comebacker off his right hand) for Houston’s first hit of the afternoon, then broke a 1-1 tie by sending a two-run homer out to the train tracks in left field. The reigning World Series MVP has been excellent as usual for the first-place Astros, slashing .294/.353/.500 with 10 round-trippers, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored.
May 23 - 6:31 PM

George Springer went 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and a walk in the win over the Indians on Friday.

Fueled partly by his 6-for-6 game last week, Springer is batting .351 with three homers and nine RBI in 57 at-bats this month.

May 14 - 7:17 PM

George Springer (elbow) is expected to return to the Astros' lineup Monday.

Springer is missing a second straight start Sunday after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch Friday, but he's expected to make an appearance off the bench versus the Rangers before returning to the lineup Monday in Anaheim. May 13 - 11:29 AM

George Springer (elbow) is not in the Astros' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

May 12 - 3:18 PM

George Springer was lifted from Friday's game against the Rangers with a left elbow contusion.

Rangers' hurler Cole Hamels has had difficulty retiring Springer in the past, and in an effort to establish the inside of the plate against him came in a bit too far and drilled Springer on the elbow. Fortunately, X-rays revealed no structural damage and Springer is considered day-to-day.
