George Springer hit a walk-off, RBI single in the 11th inning to give the Astros a 5-4 win over the Reds on Saturday.

Springer was hitless in his first four at-bats before coming through with a one-out single in the 11th to plate Jason Castro and send Astros fans home happy. It was his 41st RBI of the year, an impressive number considering he's spent his entire season batting first or second in the order. The 26-year-old is hitting .268/.354/.472 overall.
Jun 18 - 8:24 PM

George Springer launched a two-run homer in the eighth inning to spring the Astros past the Cardinals on Wednesday.

The Astros were trailing 1-0 when Springer cracked his 15th homer. That was all the scoring his team would need to win. It was Springer's only hit of the game. He is up to .266/.352/.478 with 44 runs and 40 RBI. The four steals (and six caught stealing) are a disappointment for a guy who stole 45 bases in the minors in 2013.
Jun 15 - 11:14 PM

George Springer uncoiled on a Yu Darvish pitch for his 14th home run of the season and finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored on Wednesday.

Springer had gone 0-for-5 in each of his last three games but broke out of his mini-funk on Wednesday with two hits including the home run. He hit 16 longballs last year but is already at 14 this year after 61 games.
Jun 9 - 12:58 AM

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said George Springer is at DH on Tuesday because he is "under the weather."

Springer is at about 90 percent strength, per Hinch. Good enough to hit but not to play the field. He'll bat leadoff Tuesday versus Rangers lefty Cole Hamels.
Jun 7 - 7:04 PM

George Springer went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored Friday versus the Athletics.

Springer is loving life at the top of the order for Houston. He’s batting .429 (21-for-49) in 11 games since taking over the gig. With the recent surge, his season batting line now stands at an impressive .292/.377/.518 through 56 games. The Summer of George? Fantasy owners are hoping so.
Jun 4 - 12:25 AM

George Springer laced a walk-off homer over the left-center field wall in the 11th inning of Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Springer now has a baker's dozen homers in 2016 and raised his slash line to .290/.379/.525 in 248 plate appearances. He's maintained a lower strikeout rate and is now one of the premier power-speed combinations in the majors, a borderline five-category producer (with batting average being the only question mark). Of course, it would be nice if the 26-year-old had a bit more than a 33.3 percent success rate (3-for-9) on the bases, but he's a good bet for at least 15 steals and 25 homers.
Jun 2 - 12:34 AM

George Springer blasted his 12th longball of the season on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Springer’s monster game saw him go 3-for-4 with the home run, four RBI, and two runs scored. He was also hit by a pitch but escaped unharmed. The Astros slugger now sports a strong .288/.376/.509 slash line on the season.
May 31 - 7:25 PM

George Springer hit a pair of solo home runs in the Astros' 4-2 win over the Orioles on Thursday.

Springer led off the Astros' half of the first inning with a homer against Orioles starter Kevin Gausman, and he connected again in the fifth, also off Gausman. The multi-homer game was his first this season, giving him 11 home runs overall. The 26-year-old is hitting .270/.364/.492 and has been serving as the team's leadoff hitter, ahead of Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa, in recent days.
May 26 - 11:45 PM

George Springer was on base five times Tuesday, collecting three hits and drawing two walks in a win over the Orioles.

Springer had a double to go with two singles in four official at-bats. The travesty is that he never came around to score, nor did he drive in a run from the leadoff spot. Springer had a 10-game hitting streak snapped Sunday, and Tuesday's good showing has his overall line up to .265/.364/.464. Perhaps Tuesday will be the start of another streak.
May 25 - 12:58 AM

George Springer is batting leadoff for the Astros on Tuesday night against the Orioles.

Jose Altuve will bat second as manager A.J. Hinch tries to spark a fire. Springer batted leadoff in one game earlier this month, but he's otherwise hit second. The 26-year-old outfielder enters play Tuesday with a .254/.350/.452 batting line in 45 games.
May 24 - 3:49 PM

George Springer launched a grand slam over the Green Monster Saturday in a loss to the Red Sox.

It was Springer's only hit of the afternoon. The 26-year-old now has two career grand slams with both coming this season. He's made the most of his first trip to Fenway, going 6-for-15 with eight RBI over his last three games. The Connecticut native still strikes out too much but he's quietly developed into one of the game's better power hitters. Right now he's on pace for 38 HR and 107 RBI. We've waited a long time to see Springer put it all together. In year three, it's finally happening.
May 14 - 6:19 PM

George Springer did the heavy lifting for the Astros’ offense on Friday by going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in a 7-6 win over the Red Sox.

A big night for Springer, who delivered a two-run double in a four-run fifth inning before launching a go-ahead two-run homer off former University of Connecticut teammate Matt Barnes in the sixth. The 26-year-old has amassed eight home runs and 21 RBI to go along with an .863 OPS so far this season, so he’s doing his part from a power perspective, but he’s just 2-for-7 in stolen base attempts thus far. That’s not what fantasy owners were hoping for.
May 13 - 11:58 PM

George Springer hit a two-run home run and scored twice as the Astros topped the Twins 6-4 on Tuesday.

Springer's two-run shot in the fourth inning was his second homer in as many games, giving him six in all. He's got 14 RBI and 16 runs scored to go with those six dingers. There are some highs and lows that come with the 26-year-old's offensive game, but he's hitting .274/.347/.500 through 27 games, a line the Astros will certainly take over a full season.
May 4 - 12:50 AM

George Springer went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Tuesday's loss to the Rangers.

Springer followed Jose Altuve's solo blast in the seventh inning with one of his own, his fourth homer of the year. Springer has been on a tear since entering the weekend batting .200, as he's 8-for-17 with homers in three straight games, four RBI and five runs scored in his last four contests. The scalding stretch has his season line up to .281/.328/.544 with nine RBI and eight runs scored.
