George Springer will be examined within the next two weeks to see how his fractured right wrist is healing.
Springer has already missed four weeks of action and it sounds like he might be out longer than the six-week timetable that was given. The outfielder has been shagging flyballs and staying active, but he's "not doing anything really with his right hand," according to Astros manager A.J. Hinch. Jul 29 - 10:22 AM

Astros placed OF George Springer on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right wrist.

Edinson Volquez drilled Springer with a 96 mph fastball on Wednesday night and now he'll miss six weeks. Alex Presley was called up from Triple-A Fresno to take his place in right field. Springer has been a different player since moving into the leadoff spot, batting .325 with 12 RBI since June 1. The 25-year-old had been on pace for 26 homers and 28 stolen bases before his injury. It's a big loss for fantasy owners.
Jul 2 - 1:56 PM

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said he's not optimistic George Springer (wrist) will be able to avoid the disabled list.

Hinch told reporters Springer's wrist is "causing great concern" with the club. Springer was hit on the right wrist by an Edinson Volquez pitch in Wednesday's win. He'll surely undergo X-rays before the team's next game on Friday, so the team should have a clearer picture of his prognosis prior to that contest.
Jul 1 - 11:57 PM

George Springer left Wednesday's game against the Royals with a right wrist contusion.

Springer was hit on the wrist by an Edinson Volquez pitch but stayed in, eventually being pinch-hit for by Domingo Santana in the sixth inning. The Astros should provide more clarity on his outlook Thursday.
Jul 1 - 10:27 PM

George Springer went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Springer hit a two-run shot off Danny Duffy in the third inning to break a scoreless tie. He later walked and scored on a Jose Altuve double in the fifth. Springer now has 13 home runs to go with his 13 stolen bases. The outfielder is hitting .263/.363/.456 with 29 RBI and 42 runs scored on the year.
Jun 30 - 11:15 PM

George Springer is not in the Astros' lineup Wednesday.

He's just getting some rest. Domingo Santana is in Springer's place in right field.
Jun 24 - 1:20 PM

George Springer singled, launched a pair of home runs and scored three times in Monday's win over the Rockies.

Springer took Chad Bettis deep in the second inning and then went over the boards against veteran LaTroy Hawkins in the seventh. He also had a couple nice catches in right field to boot. Springer is batting .370 with four home runs and 13 runs scored in 21 games since being moved to the leadoff spot.
Jun 15 - 11:47 PM

George Springer went 5-for-5 for an Astros team that had just seven hits Wednesday in a 4-1 loss to the White Sox.

How unlikely was this feat? It's the first time in six years that a player has had five hits in a nine-inning game in which his team scored one or no runs (Oakland's Adam Kennedy did it in 1999), and it comes from a .232 hitter who has averaged 0.86 hits per game in his young career. Springer entered the night with just one three-hit game this year.
Jun 10 - 11:34 PM

George Springer went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's victory over the Orioles.

Springer added insurance, giving the Astros a 3-1 lead with his sixth-inning home run off of Miguel Gonzalez. It's his eighth homer of the year and his 19th RBI. He has a .231/.351/.428 batting line with 11 stolen bases to go along with them.
Jun 3 - 10:31 PM

Batting leadoff again, George Springer went 3-for-5 and hit his seventh homer Monday versus the Orioles.

Springer hit leadoff Sunday with Jose Altuve getting the day off, and since the Astros scored 10 runs, manager A.J. Hinch decided to leave him there today and drop Altuve down to the two hole. Obviously, it went well for Springer, though he did make the final out of the game in the 4-3 loss. In the long run, it's going to make more sense to hit Springer below Altuve.
May 25 - 4:33 PM

George Springer went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Astros fell to the Tigers in Detroit on Friday.

Springer's run-scoring double capped a two-run rally in the third inning to give the Astros an early lead, but that would be the entirety of their offense on the night. With the two-hit attack, he's now hitting .214/.344/.420 with six homers, 17 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the year.
May 22 - 10:11 PM

George Springer cranked a solo home run against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Springer has now homered in two out of three games since returning from a concussion, which is a promising sign. The 25-year-old is having issues with strikeouts, so he's hitting just .193 so far, but he's made up for that somewhat from a fantasy perspective with six homers and 10 steals.
May 15 - 11:36 PM

George Springer hit a tiebreaking homer off Jeremy Affeldt in his return from the disabled list to lead the Astros to a 4-3 win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Springer missed a week with a concussion. The homer was his fifth in 103 at-bats this season. He was hitting second and third for the Astros before getting hurt, but now that Jake Marisnick has assumed the leadoff spot, at least temporarily, Springer found himself in the cleanup spot tonight.
May 13 - 11:55 PM

Astros activated OF George Springer from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Springer played in a rehab game with Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday to convince the club he was ready to roll. He wound up missing just the minimum amount of time with a concussion. Springer sports a disappointing .192/.311/.374 batting line this season but does have four homers and 10 stolen bases.
May 13 - 8:27 AM

George Springer (concussion) will be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

Springer had one hit in four at-bats in the designated hitter spot for Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday, and the Astros are convinced he needed just the one rehab game. He'll have spent the minimum amount of time on the disabled list after suffering a concussion last week when he ran into the outfield wall.
