Batting leadoff again, George Springer went 3-for-5 and hit his seventh homer Monday versus the Orioles.
Springer hit leadoff Sunday with Jose Altuve getting the day off, and since the Astros scored 10 runs, manager A.J. Hinch decided to leave him there today and drop Altuve down to the two hole. Obviously, it went well for Springer, though he did make the final out of the game in the 4-3 loss. In the long run, it's going to make more sense to hit Springer below Altuve. May 25 - 4:33 PM

George Springer went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Astros fell to the Tigers in Detroit on Friday.

Springer's run-scoring double capped a two-run rally in the third inning to give the Astros an early lead, but that would be the entirety of their offense on the night. With the two-hit attack, he's now hitting .214/.344/.420 with six homers, 17 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the year.
May 22 - 10:11 PM

George Springer cranked a solo home run against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Springer has now homered in two out of three games since returning from a concussion, which is a promising sign. The 25-year-old is having issues with strikeouts, so he's hitting just .193 so far, but he's made up for that somewhat from a fantasy perspective with six homers and 10 steals.
May 15 - 11:36 PM

George Springer hit a tiebreaking homer off Jeremy Affeldt in his return from the disabled list to lead the Astros to a 4-3 win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Springer missed a week with a concussion. The homer was his fifth in 103 at-bats this season. He was hitting second and third for the Astros before getting hurt, but now that Jake Marisnick has assumed the leadoff spot, at least temporarily, Springer found himself in the cleanup spot tonight.

Astros activated OF George Springer from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Springer played in a rehab game with Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday to convince the club he was ready to roll. He wound up missing just the minimum amount of time with a concussion. Springer sports a disappointing .192/.311/.374 batting line this season but does have four homers and 10 stolen bases.

George Springer (concussion) will be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

Springer had one hit in four at-bats in the designated hitter spot for Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday, and the Astros are convinced he needed just the one rehab game. He'll have spent the minimum amount of time on the disabled list after suffering a concussion last week when he ran into the outfield wall.
May 12 - 11:28 PM

George Springer (concussion) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Corpus Christi.

MLB.com's Brian McTaggart suspects that Springer will be cleared to return to the Astros' active roster after just one rehab game. The dynamic young right fielder was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list on May 6 after running into an outfield wall at Minute Maid Park while making a fantastic catch.
May 12 - 4:02 PM

George Springer has been increasing his activity as he goes through concussion protocol.

"I talked to George today, and he’s doing well," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said Saturday. "He’s going through the (concussion) protocol. He’s seeing our doctors, increasing physical activity and going along with the protocol to be evaluated every day and see what’s next." The skipper added that Springer "was in good spirits the day after (suffering a concussion) and he’s in good spirits today." Springer is eligible for activation on Wednesday, but Hinch said "it’s in the doctor’s hands" as to whether he'll be activated at that time.
May 10 - 12:09 PM

Astros placed OF George Springer on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Springer ran into the outfield wall in Tuesday's game and was being tested for concussion symptoms after the contest. The Astros are expected to promote Preston Tucker to take Springer's roster spot. Concussions are notoriously touchy, so it's unclear how long Springer might be sidelined.
May 6 - 10:16 PM

Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports George Springer is expected to be placed on the disabled list Thursday.

Drellich hears outfield prospect Preston Tucker is on his way to Anaheim to meet the club for the start of their road trip Thursday. Springer ran hard into the outfield wall Tuesday and sat out Wednesday's game with a possible concussion. Obviously the hope at this point is that Springer's DL stint is a short one.
May 6 - 9:59 PM

George Springer (head) is not in the Astros' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Rangers.

Springer banged his head and shoulder against the right-field wall Tuesday while making a spectacular catch. He looked pretty shaken up after the play and is still being evaluated for a concussion. Robbie Grossman is in right and batting ninth on Wednesday.
May 6 - 4:10 PM

George Springer crashed into the wall making a catch on Tuesday and will be evaluated for a concussion.

The Astros aren't taking chances with their young star, who hit the wall with his head while making a spectacular grab Tuesday night against the Rangers. Houston manager A.J. Hinch said after the game that Springer was "pretty banged up." He'll undergo a battery of tests and will sit on Wednesday, with his status reevaluated once the Astros have a better gauge of the severity of the injury.
May 5 - 11:19 PM

George Springer had a monster night in Tuesday's rout of the Padres, finishing 2-for-5 with a stolen base, a home run and five RBI.

Springer filled up the box score despite getting zero hits on Monday and was again a fantasy superstar on Tuesday. The youngster knocked in his first run with a ground out in the fifth inning. He hit a two-run home run off of Odrisamer Despaigne in the seventh, then singled in two more runs in the eighth. Springer still has an unsightly .197/.308/.368 triple-slash line, but has three home runs, 11 RBI, and is tied with teammate Jose Altuve for the American League lead in steals with eight.
Apr 29 - 1:33 AM

George Springer went 0-for-2 with three walks, three stolen bases, and two runs scored on Monday as the Astros beat the Padres.

In the eighth inning, Springer walked, moved to second on another walk, stole third, and came around to score on a throwing error by catcher Derek Norris. In the ninth, Springer walked again, stole second, and scored on a Colby Rasmus home run. Springer hasn't done much with the bat, hitting just .183/.302/.324, but he's 7-for-8 in the stolen base department at least.
Apr 28 - 1:40 AM

George Springer was hitless with a walk in five plate appearances as the Astros fell 4-0 to the Athletics on Tuesday.

Springer struck out once, as he's now struck out in each of the eight games in which he has appeared to begin the season. In total, he's struck out 13 times in 35 plate appearances. Springer is also batting just .133 with one extra-base hit, a double. Springer has big time power, but his propensity to swing and miss will be a detriment to his value.
