George Springer went 1-for-3 with a walk Saturday in the Astros’ loss to the Blue Jays.
He doubled home a run in the third to give Houston a 1-0 lead, though the Astros weren’t able to score again until the ninth inning. Springer was also caught stealing for the fourth time. George Springer had a perfect night at the plate Friday against the Blue Jays, finishing 4-for-4 with two homers, five RBI, and four runs scored.

Springer slugged a three-run homer in the second inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a solo homer in the seventh. He’s now up to 27 homers, all of them out of the leadoff spot. Meanwhile, his batting average has climbed all the way up to .307 on the year. Fantasy owners would like to see more speed, but he’s putting together the monster year many have been waiting for.

He laced RBI singles in the fifth and seventh innings and spent most of the game sprinting around the bases. The stolen bases were his first of the season. His 70 runs scored rank him third in the major leagues. The three hits boosted his batting average to an even .300 to go with 25 home runs and 55 RBI. His career high for homers in a season is 29, which he set last year.

Springer should have been an All-Star last year, but Carlos Beltran got the nod over him in the outfield. It seems safe to say that he'll get the call this year, what with his 24 homers and .952 OPS to date. He's scored 62 runs and driven in 52 in 73 games.

That makes 23 homers for Springer. If only he could steal a base, he'd be a top-five fantasy outfielder right now. However, he's 0-for-3 in steals this year after finishing 9-for-19 last year. He was actually effective stealing bases before that, going 21-for-27 over 180 games in his first two seasons.

His X-rays came back negative. Springer left Thursday's game after being struck by a 92 mph sinker from A's starter Jesse Hahn. The Astros are calling him day-to-day. Springer suffered a similar injury two years ago when he was hit by then-Royals starter Edinson Volquez. Jake Marisnick replaced Springer in center field on Thursday and should start there during his absence.
