George Springer went 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBI as the Astros thrashed the White Sox on Friday.
He drove in two runs with a double in the fourth inning, and kept running around the bases and scored on the same play when the shortstop made a throwing error. In his next at-bat he rifled a ground-rule double that plated two more runs. Springer's .238 batting average leaves something to be desired but his counting stats look good. He has four homers, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored through 21 games. Apr 21 - 1:10 AM

George Springer led off the game on Monday with a homer in a loss to the Mariners.

Springer took James Paxton deep to open the ballgame; something he's done multiple times against the Mariners. He also singled and walked, and was the only Houston hitter who had any fun against Paxton and the Seattle relievers. It's been a slow start to the season for Springer, but there's no reason to panic. This could be the start of a breakout for the outfielder.

George Springer hit a pair of homers off Cole Hamels in the Astros' 3-2 win over the Rangers on Friday.

It's been a slow start for Springer, but he does have three homers and three doubles among his 11 hits in 56 at-bats. Springer had been 2-for-17 against Hamels in his career coming into this one, though one of those previous hits was a homer.
Apr 13 - 11:21 PM

George Springer (leg) went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in his return to the Astros' lineup Monday against the Twins.

Springer was removed from Sunday's series finale against the Padres due to leg soreness, but he served as Houston's designated hitter and leadoff man on Monday night. The 28-year-old is batting just .182/.260/.318 through 11 games to open the season, but there's no reason to panic. He does have a homer, three doubles, five RBI, and five runs scored.
Apr 10 - 8:29 AM

George Springer was removed from Sunday's game against the Padres after six innings due to leg soreness.

Astros' manager A.J. Hinch said afterwards that Springer should be back in the club's lineup on Monday where he had already been set to DH. It doesn't sound like this is anything that fantasy owners need to worry about when planning for next week's lineups.
Apr 8 - 5:34 PM

George Springer went 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored as the Astros topped the Orioles in Houston on Tuesday.

Springer was hit by a pitch and came around to score in the third inning. He then socked a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning, putting the Astros' ahead for good. Springer is now hitting .250/.345/.500 with a homer and five RBI through his first six games.
Apr 3 - 11:52 PM

George Springer slugged a leadoff homer and drew a walk as the Astros defeated the Rangers on Opening Day.

He’s now the first player to lead off back-to-back seasons with a homer. Terry Puhl (1978, 1980) is the only other player in MLB history with multiple leadoff home runs on Opening Day. Springer has never been the basestealer many fantasy owners were hoping for, but he amassed 34 homers, 85 RBI, and 112 runs scored out of the leadoff spot last season while compiling a .283/.367/.522 batting line. Expect continued big things.
Mar 29 - 6:52 PM

George Springer walloped a two-run homer against the Mets on Friday in Grapefruit League action.

He took Corey Oswalt yard with Jack Mayfield on base in the fifth inning. It was Springer's first longball of the spring as he is off to a .455/.455/1.000 hot streak in the early going.

Astros and OF George Springer avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $24 million contract.

The deal is a compromise after Springer recently requested $10.5 million and was offered $8.5 million by the Astros when arbitration figures were exchanged last month. Springer is a Super Two player, so he will have one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2020. The 28-year-old is coming off a brilliant year where he batted .282/.367/.522 with 34 home runs over 140 games.

George Springer requested $10.5 million and was offered $8.5 million by the Astros when arbitration figures were exchanged on Friday.

They are far enough apart that an arbitration hearing seems likely. Springer is coming off the best season of his career in which he slashed .283/.367/.522 with 34 longballs, 85 RBI and 112 runs scored in 140 games.
Jan 12 - 6:31 PM

George Springer went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored in a 5-1 victory over the Dodgers in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series on Wednesday to give the Astros their first ever world championship.

Springer did all of his damage in the first two innings, but what an incredible two innings it was. He started the game with a double down the line, and he scored after a silly error by Cody Bellinger a batter later. An inning later, he took a hanging fruit of a pitch by Yu Darvish and drilled it 438 (estimated) feet to give the Astros a 5-0 lead. After going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Game 1, Springer was the best hitter for Houston the rest of the series and was named MVP. Expect another step forward for the star outfielder in 2018.

George Springer went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in the Astros' World Series Game 6 loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Springer went deep off Dodgers starter Rich Hill in the top of the third inning for the first run of the game, but that was all the meaningful offense Houston could muster in an eventual 3-1 defeat at Dodger Stadium. Springer has four home runs in the 2017 World Series and all of them have been either of the game-tying or go-ahead variety. He'll be raring to go for Game 7 on Wednesday.

George Springer reached base five times and clubbed his third home run of the World Series as the Astros beat the Dodgers to take Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday.

Springer finished the night 2-for-3 and also drew three walks. His solo home run came on the first pitch of the seventh inning, tying the score at 8-8 after his own defensive miscue led to the Dodgers taking the lead in the top half of the inning. He's slashing .266/.365/.516 with four homers and six RBI in the playoffs.

George Springer hit a solo home run in the sixth inning of Saturday's loss to the Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series.

Dodgers starter Alex Wood hadn't allowed a hit -- let alone a run -- through 5 2/3 innings before Springer stepped up and smashed a Wood breaking ball over the left field wall to give the Astros a lead. Unfortunately for Springer and the Astros, though, the lead would be short-lived, and the solo shot would end up being one of only two hits the Houston bunch would manage in the contest. Springer now has three home run in 15 games this postseason.

George Springer smacked a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning to help give Houston a 7-6 victory over the Dodgers on Wednesday in Game 2 of the World Series.

This was one of the most exciting postseason games of recent memory, and we've had some really good ones. Springer came into this game struggling, but he was outstanding on Wednesday. He opened the game with a walk, knocked in a run on a hard-hit single in the third, and crushed a two-run homer in the top of the 11th off of Brandon McCarthy to give Houston a 7-5 lead. When Springer is on and able to recognize pitches, there are very few better hitting outfielders in baseball. Game 3 is on Friday in Houston.
