George Springer homered and doubled off Phil Hughes in the Astros' 8-4 victory over the Twins on Wednesday.
Springer had been without a homer in 47 at-bats this spring coming into this one. If he just happened to be waiting until the end of the spring to start to turn it on, that'll be fine with the Astros. Mar 22 - 4:39 PM

George Springer collected his third stolen base of the spring Tuesday against the Marlins.

Springer was quite a disappointment on the basepaths last year, going from 16-for-20 in 102 games in 2015 to 9-for-19 in 162 games. He was caught on four of his five attempts in April, and he just wasn't willing to try as often afterwards. So, it'd seem to be a good sign that he's already attempted four steals this spring, succeeding on all but one of them. If Springer can swipe 20 bases this year, he'd stand a good chance of finishing as a top-five fantasy outfielder.

George Springer went 3-for-3 with a double Thursday against the Nationals.

Springer's modest averages and strong home run totals look out of place in the leadoff spot, but he had a .359 OBP last year and is at .356 in his career. As a result, the Astros are expected to keep him there this year, with Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve following him in the order. It's not the best-case scenario for Springer's fantasy value, but hardly the worst, either.
Mar 2 - 5:26 PM

George Springer said in an interview on Fantasy Sports Radio that he'll try to steal bases this season only "when the situation says I'm supposed to."

Springer disappointed in the stolen base department in 2016, stealing just nine bags while being caught 10 times. Based on how he sounded in the interview, it doesn't appear that he'll be too aggressive on the basepaths in 2017, as he's cognizant of that fact that he shouldn't risk running into outs with the accomplished hitters he'll have batting behind him. Springer will still probably bounce back a tad with his steals this season, but those hoping for him to start running wild like he did in the minors will likely be disappointed.

George Springer will move to center field full-time in 2017.

It was initially unclear how the Astros planned to assemble their outfield after signing Josh Reddick to a four-year deal, but now it appears Reddick will man right field with Springer moving from right to center. Springer was a Gold Glove finalist in right field last season but has made 16 career starts in center and spent most of his minor league career as a center fielder. The 27-year-old set career-highs in home runs (29) and RBI (82) last year while mostly hitting out of the leadoff spot.

Astros and OF George Springer avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.9 million contract.

It's the first of four arbitration years for Springer, who qualified for Super 2 status. He sported a .261/.359/.457 batting line with 29 home runs for the Astros last season.

George Springer will not participate in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Springer was eligible to play for Puerto Rico, but he has apparently decided to focus on the season ahead. The 27-year-old hit .261/.359/.457 with 29 homers, 82 RBI, and nine steals over 162 games in 2016.
Jan 3 - 10:23 AM

George Springer singled leading off the game and was replaced by a pinch-runner despite not being injured versus the Angels on Sunday.

It was simply the Astros' way of recognizing him for playing in all 162 games this year. Only two other players in the majors matched that feat this season. Springer finishes the year batting .261/.359/.457 with 29 homers, 82 RBI and 116 runs scored. He led the majors with 744 plate appearances.

George Springer went 3-for-5 with a two-run double and two runs scored to help the Astros double up the Mariners 8-4 on Tuesday.

Springer singled and scored leading off the first inning, but it was his double with the bases loaded in the sixth inning that made the difference. That two-run knock gave the Astros a lead, and they would hold onto it to keep pace in the hunt for a spot in the AL Wild Card game. Springer is the owner of an eight-game hitting streak during which he's 17-for-36. The good stretch has his overall line up to .262/.362/.458 with 28 homers, 81 RBI, 115 runs scored and nine steals.

George Springer went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Angels.

He stroked an RBI triple in the seventh inning and was then driven in by Yulieski Gurriel. Springer has a solid .255/.357/.453 slash line with 28 home runs and 79 RBI. His 112 runs scored rank 5th in the majors. He has contributed nine stolen bases as well. He leads the majors with 715 plate appearances.

George Springer hit a go-ahead RBI single in the 10th inning of Tuesday's 2-1 win over the A's.

Springer finished with a pair of singles. It was the second knock that was the crucial one, as that scored Tony Kemp to give the Astros a 2-1 advantage in the 10th inning. Ken Giles would load the bases with one out in the bottom of the frame to put that lead in jeopardy, but he wriggled out of trouble. In 598 at-bats this season, the 27-year-old outfielder is hitting .251/.355/.450 with 28 homers, 78 RBI and nine steals.

George Springer belted his 28th home run on Sunday as the Astros fell to the Mariners in Seattle.

The long ball gave him the club lead over Evan Gattis who has 27. Springer tagged Ariel Miranda for the solo shot in the third inning, pulling the Astros to within a run at 2-1. He finished the day 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .251/.357/.453 with 28 long balls, 77 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season.

George Springer had a big night at the plate on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three runs scored.

He also walked twice. The home run gave him 25 for the season. His .266/.366/.481 is solid but not great. It is the 92 runs scored, 72 RBI and seven steals that combine with the home runs to make him a fantasy star.

George Springer finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI in the Astros' 10-2 victory over the Twins in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.

The Astros thoroughly annihilated the Twins in the two-game set, outscoring them 25-9. Springer collected six RBI on the day, with two coming on a home run in the fourth inning of the nightcap. Springer's five hits raised his overall line to .260/.353/.471 with 23 home runs, 68 RBI and 82 runs scored.
