Ysmael Carmona - R - Angels

Angels sent RHP Ysmael Carmona outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Angels jettisoned Carmona to leave an open spot on the 40-man roster, which is likely being reserved for Jason Isringhausen. The 27-year-old Carmona cleared waivers and is nothing more than organizational depth.

Ysmael Carmona - R - Angels

Angels purchased the contract of RHP Ysmael Carmona from Triple-A Salt Lake.

The 25-year-old right-hander earned a spot on the team's 40-man roster by posting a 2.66 ERA in 44 relief appearances between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Salt Lake this season, averaging 8.7 K/9 and 5.8 BB/9. He's a work in progress, but the Angels at least plan to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft.

Even the most optimistic of time frames have Bourjos returning to the lineup at the end of May or beginning of June. Hamstring injuries can be extremely detrimental to players like Bourjos who rely so heavily on their speed, as they tend to linger and pose a high re-injury risk. J.B. Madson thinks he's ready to be activated now, but the Angels have decided to slow things down in order to avoid re-injury. The reliever said he respects the team's decision but thinks he can "pitch here today and get people out. That's just how I feel." It sounds like he won't join the Halos' bullpen until sometime next month. May 15

	4	Sean Burnett D.L. Sean Burnett (forearm) will pitch in a minor league rehab game Saturday with High-A Inland Empire. The hope is that one appearance will be enough for him to return from the disabled list Tuesday. Burnett has been sidelined since April 26 with left forearm irritation. May 17
	5	Kevin Jepsen D.L. Kevin Jepsen (triceps) is expected to begin a rehab assignment early next week. Jepsen has been sidelined since April 12 with a strained right shoulder, but resumed throwing from a mound last weekend and hasn't had any setbacks.
