Orioles purchased the contract of LHP Cesar Cabral from Triple-A Norfolk.

Cabral earned the promotion by going unscored upon with a 25/4 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings at Norfolk. He'll give manager Buck Showalter another lefty relief option.
Jun 5 - 3:13 PM

Oriole signed LHP Cesar Cabral to a minor league contract.

He'll presumably be invited to spring training. Cabral allowed three runs in his lone big league inning in 2014 and posted a 6.28 ERA in the minors, though he did strike out 44 over 38 2/3 frames on the farm. He's a depth add.
Jan 11 - 11:45 AM

Cesar Cabral has elected free agency.

Cabral had trouble staying healthy with the Yankees and performed terribly this season, allowing three runs in his lone big league inning and posting a 6.28 ERA in the minors. The 25-year-old will seek a minor league deal elsewhere.

Yankees sent LHP Cesar Cabral outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Cabral successfully cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. He'll serve as bullpen depth in the minors.

Yankees designated LHP Cesar Cabral for assignment.

Not an unsurprising move after completely losing his control and hitting three batters in the eighth inning of Friday's loss to the Rays. While it's possible he'll generate some interest on waivers, the most likely scenario is that he returns to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre where he'll attempt to get back on track.

Cesar Cabral was ejected from Friday's game against the Rays after hitting three hitters in the eighth inning.

It was an epic meltdown for Cabral, who seemed to legitimately have no idea where the ball was going. With David Robertson's impending return from the disabled list on Tuesday, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the southpaw return to Triple-A for more seasoning.

Yankees recalled LHP Cesar Cabral from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He'll take the place of the injured David Robertson (groin) on the active roster and will give Joe Girardi a third left-hander out of the bullpen. Cabral appeared in eight games with the big club last season and had a 5.40 ERA with 43 strikeouts over 36 2/3 innings in the minors.

Yankees optioned LHP Cesar Cabral from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The 25-year-old southpaw was outstanding in Grapefruit League play, hurling 9 1/3 scoreless innings while compiling a 10/6 K/BB ratio. Even so, he lost out to Vidal Nuno for the final spot in the Opening Day bullpen somehow. He'll get another shot with the Yankees at some point early in the 2014 season no doubt.

Yankees purchased the contract of LHP Cesar Cabral from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Cabral holds a 5.40 ERA with 43 strikeouts over 36 2/3 innings across multiple minor league stops in his first year back from elbow surgery. He'll give the Yanks another southpaw in the bullpen.

Yankees sent LHP Cesar Cabral outright to Double-A Trenton.

The move was made to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Chris Bootcheck. The 24-year-old southpaw missed the entire 2012 season with a stress fracture in his elbow, and has struggled this season, posting a 6.75 ERA and 2.08 WHIP through his first 12 innings in the minors.

Cesar Cabral (elbow) threw a scoreless inning Wednesday in an extended spring training game.

Cabral worked around a single by Delmon Young to complete the frame. The 24-year-old left-hander missed all of 2012 with a stress fracture in his elbow. It's not clear when he'll begin an official minor league rehab assignment.

Yankees placed LHP Cesar Cabral on the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly-claimed Dan Otero. The 24-year-old left-hander missed all of 2012 with a stress fracture in his elbow and isn't expected to pitch in games until May.

Cesar Cabral (elbow) isn't expected to be ready to pitch in games until May.

Cabral missed all of 2012 with a stress fracture in his left elbow, and he obviously still isn't 100 percent. The positive with the injury is that the Yankees will be able to bring the Rule 5 pick along slowly with minor league rehab games.

According to Chad Jennings of the Journal News, Cesar Cabral (elbow) is not expected to be 100 percent healthy by the start of the 2013 regular season.

Cabral was a Rule 5 Draft selection before the 2012 season, but he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left elbow during spring training and missed the entire summer. He'll be a question mark again in 2013.
