Coleman had a decent 3.71 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 65/26 K/BB ratio in 51 innings last season with Kansas City. He should see plenty of action in the majors this year.

The Royals called up Coleman and Nate Adcock for Wednesday's game while Vin Mazzaro was sent down to the minors and Mitch Maier was designated for assignment. Coleman has a 4.91 ERA and 23/13 K/BB ratio over 22 innings in the majors this season and will pitch in middle relief.

Joakim Soria blew his save opportunity in a 20-pitch ninth inning, so Royals manager Ned Yost turned to his rookie. Coleman is not a candidate to steal more saves from Soria this season, but he tore up the minors and is now sporting a 2.35 ERA and 12/5 K/BB ratio through 7 2/3 innings.
