Lester Oliveros was placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Rochester with a sore shoulder.
Oliveros isn't fantasy relevant after losing his spot on the 40-man roster in March. A September cup of coffee isn't out of the question, but this news won't help his cause. Jul 11 - 1:36 PM

Twins sent RHP Lester Oliveros outright to Triple-A Rochester.

They now have an extra spot on their 40-man roster, which they're likely to use to add Blaine Boyer. Oliveros was sent to minor league camp earlier this month.

Twins optioned RHP Lester Oliveros to Triple-A Rochester.

Oliveros was being brought along slowly this spring in Twins camp due to a minor shoulder injury. The 26-year-old right-hander will function as organizational relief depth this season for Minnesota.

Lester Oliveros (shoulder) will throw off a mound on Friday.

Oliveros has yet to make an appearance this spring due to what La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune refers to as a "slight shoulder condition." While it appears the ailment is minor, it obviously doesn't help Oliveros' chances of winning a bullpen spot.

Twins recalled RHP Lester Oliveros from Triple-A Rochester.

Oliveros has been great in his first full year back from Tommy John surgery, holding a 1.64 ERA with 88 strikeouts over 65 2/3 relief frames between Double- and Triple-A. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012.

Twins re-signed RHP Lester Oliveros to a minor league contract.

Oliveros spent most of 2013 rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and picked up only a smattering of appearances in the Gulf Coast League. If he's healthy in 2014, Oliveros will have a chance to crack a vulnerable bullpen.

Twins signed RHP Lester Oliveros to a minor league contract.

Oliveros was non-tendered, but has since re-signed. The 24-year-old posted a 2.42 ERA while striking out over a batter per inning with the Twins' Triple-A affiliate before undergoing Tommy John surgery in late August. He'll likely be sidelined until 2014.

Twins non-tendered RHP Lester Oliveros.

Oliveros had a 2.42 ERA and 51/15 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings in Triple-A last season, but August Tommy John surgery will sideline him for most or all of 2013. The Twins figure to re-sign him to a minor league contract.

Lester Oliveros underwent Tommy John surgery Wednesday.

It was reported earlier this month that Oliveros needed surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but evidently the procedure was more complicated than that. The reliever will now be sidelined for most, if not all, of 2013.

Lester Oliveros will undergo season-ending surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow.

Oliveros was shut down in June with elbow issues, but returned last month to make six appearances with Triple-A Rochester. However, he apparently didn't feel much improvement. The 24-year-old right-hander posted a promising 2.42 ERA and 51/15 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

He has a 3.86 ERA and 24/5 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this year.
