Despite not being in major league camp, the Mets are giving Duane Below a look for a possible spot in the Opening Day bullpen.
The 29-year-old left-hander appeared in his first Grapefruit League game on Sunday, allowing a hit and recording a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning. He has a history of success against left-handed hitters and could fill a huge void in the Mets pen for a situational left-hander. Mar 22 - 8:52 PM

Duane Below remains shut down due to irritation in his left elbow.

Below has been nursing the ailment for a couple weeks now. He was scheduled to see the doctor on Monday, though the results of that visit aren't available. A non-roster invitee, Below was likely slated for Triple-A even if he wasn't injured.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that left-hander Duane Below has signed with a team in Korea.

The specifics of the deal aren't yet known. Below appeared in two games with the Marlins back in May and had been pitching for the team's Triple-A affiliate since, but he has apparently found a better opportunity.

Tigers optioned LHP Duane Below to Triple-A Toledo.

Below gets the boot after giving up three runs on three hits and a walk over an inning Monday night against the Twins. The southpaw now has a 3.88 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings this season. He figures to return in September.

Duane Below pitched fairly well in a brief outing against the Twins on Tuesday evening, surrendering five runs (one earned) on five hits over 2 2/3 innings.

As has often been the case with the Tigers this season, the brutal defense behind Below played a major role in the outcome of the game. Ramon Santiago booted a simple ground ball in the third inning which extended the frame, allowing Josh Willingham to come to the plate and bash a three-run homer. Below did manage to strike out three without issuing a walk, but he's unlikely to see another start and is mostly irrelevant in fantasy leagues.
