White Sox claimed OF J.B. Shuck off waivers from the Indians.
Shuck had a surprise 2013 season but crashed back to earth this year, hitting just .145/.168/.209 over 38 games for the Angels and Indians. He'll try to win a bench spot for the White Sox next spring. Nov 3 - 3:04 PM

Indians acquired OF J.B. Shuck from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations.

Shuck was a really nice surprise for the Angels last year, hitting .293/.331/.366 in 437 at-bats and playing strong defense in left field. This year, he was a complete non-factor, hitting .167/.195/.250 in 84 at-bats in the majors. He came in at .320/.382/.446 in Triple-A, but that was in a great offensive environment at Salt Lake. Most likely, he'll bounce around as a reserve outfielder/Triple-A guy for a few more years. The Indians should bring him right to the majors, but he probably won't have any fantasy value with David Murphy back.
Sep 5 - 4:05 PM

Angels designated OF J.B. Shuck for assignment.

Shuck hit .167/.195/.250 in 22 games this season at the major league level. He was moved off the 40-man roster Tuesday to clear a spot for a September callup.
Sep 2 - 5:09 PM

Angels optioned OF J.B. Shuck to Triple-A Salt Lake.

With C.J. Wilson activated from the disabled list on Saturday, the Angels opted to keep an extra arm in the bullpen and send out Shuck. In 22 games with the big league club this season, he has hit .167/.195/.250 with a pair of homers and nine RBI.
Aug 2 - 3:37 PM

Angels recalled OF J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Shuck has hit just .173/.193/.259 in 81 at-bats this season for the Angels. He will serve as temporary outfield depth with Josh Hamilton nursing a sore knee.
Jul 26 - 4:58 PM

Angels optioned OF J.B. Shuck to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Anaheim promoted first base prospect C.J. Cron in a corresponding roster move. Shuck was batting just .173/.193/.259 over 19 games this season for the Angels.
May 3 - 5:50 PM

J.B. Shuck blasted a leadoff home run off Max Scherzer in Saturday's loss to the Tigers.

As terrific of a start to the game as it was, it would be the only run that they would scratch across against Scherzer. Shuck, hitting out of the leadoff spot in the lineup, finished the day 1-for-4 and is hitting a disappointing .189/.211/.351 in the early going.
Apr 19 - 4:27 PM

J.B. Shuck went 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's lopsided win over the Mets.

Shuck batted leadoff and came through with three singles. He's hit in each of his first three games after being called up Wednesday, now batting .357 (5-for-14). He should continue to get the majority of the starts in left field during Josh Hamilton's extended absence.
Apr 13 - 6:57 PM

J.B. Shuck hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth Friday as the Angels beat the Mets 5-4 in 11 innings.

Shuck's homer was the last of the scoring until Jeurys Familia hit Hank Conger with a pitch with the bases loaded in the 11th, ending the game. Shuck was making his first start after replacing the injured Josh Hamilton on the Angels' roster. He's not going to be good for many more homers -- he hit just two in 437 at-bats last year -- but he should have some AL-only value as a starter against right-handers while Hamilton is out.
Apr 12 - 2:35 AM

Angels recalled OF J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salk Lake.

Shuck will take the place of Josh Hamilton, who will miss 6-8 weeks after thumb surgery. Shuck hit .293/.331/.366 in 437 at-bats with the Angels last season and was batting .375 in five games with Triple-A this year. He'll likely start against most right-handers and Collin Cowgill will presumably start against left-handers.
Apr 9 - 6:34 PM

Angels optioned OF J.B. Shuck, LHP Jose Alvarez and INF Grant Green to Triple-A Salt Lake; reassigned OF Matt Long to minor league camp.

Shuck hit .293 for the Angels last season and a solid .281 this spring but still finds himself without a roster spot. He and Green still figure to spend plenty of time in the majors this season.
Mar 30 - 8:26 AM

J.B. Shuck singled, doubled, stole a base, and drove in two runs against the Giants on Monday.

All in a day's work. Shuck stole his third base and brought his Cactus League average up to .283. He has made a strong case to make the roster as the club's back-up outfielder.
Mar 24 - 7:12 PM

J.B. Shuck had a nice day at the dish in Friday's Cactus League defeat at the hand of the Padres, going 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.

The 27-year-old outfielder raised his spring average from .214 to .281 in the process. With Colin Cowgill having an impressive spring in his own right, there is serious competition right now for the reserve outfielder role in Anaheim.
Mar 14 - 7:30 PM

J.B. Shuck went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple as the Angels routed the Rangers 12-1 on Wednesday.

Shuck tripled in the fourth, part of the Angels' second multi-run inning to that point in the ballgame. Shuck had been cold in the Cactus League prior to Wednesday's game while Collin Cowgill, his competition for a roster spot as a back-up outfielder, has been hitting the cover off of the ball.
Mar 12 - 7:09 PM

J.B. Shuck (ankle) once again is not in the Angels starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Shuck sprained his right ankle in Thursday's game, and while the injury isn't serious it has cost him a pair of games over the final weekend of the season. All signs point to him returning for Sunday's season finale. Collin Cowgill will get the start in left field and hit second for the Halos on Saturday.
