Avisail Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of runs scored as the White Sox topped the Astros on Tuesday.

Garcia drove in a run with a ground ball in the first inning. He also swiped his fifth base of the season in the ballgame. With his two-hit attack, the All-Star outfielder is now hitting .304/.348/.487 with 13 homers and 55 RBI.

Avisail Garcia (thumb) is starting in right field and batting cleanup Tuesday night against the Astros.

Garcia went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in his one rehab game Monday with Triple-A Charlotte, but the White Sox deemed him fit to return. The 26-year-old missed two weeks with a strained ligament in his right thumb. He's slashing .303/.347/.485 with 13 home runs and 54 RBI in 88 games this season.

White Sox activated OF Avisail Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia played one rehab game at Triple-A Charlotte on Monday to knock the rust off and is now ready to roll. He missed two weeks of action with a strained ligament in his right thumb.
Aug 8 - 12:08 PM

Avisail Garcia (thumb) has been sent to Triple-A Charlotte to begin a rehab assignment.

There had been talk about Garcia being activated Tuesday without a rehab assignment, but he'll get at least one or two minor league tune-up games. Assuming all goes well, Garcia should return to the White Sox active roster later this week.
Aug 7 - 4:55 PM

Avisail Garcia (thumb) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Tuesday.

Garcia's right thumb is "pain-free," according to White Sox manager Rick Renteria and he might not need a rehab assignment before being activated. The outfielder has been on the shelf for nearly two weeks with a strained ligament in his thumb.
Aug 6 - 12:33 PM

Avisail Garcia (thumb) has been cleared for light bat grips and dry swings.

He has also been playing catch. Garcia landed on the disabled list July 26 with a ligament strain in his right thumb and there is no exact timetable for his return to the White Sox active roster, but it's obviously a good sign that he has already begun rehab activities. Alen Hanson and Leury Garcia will continue to share right field duties.
Aug 3 - 3:29 PM

White Sox placed OF Avisail Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a ligament strain in his right thumb.

Garcia is expected to be out for at least the next two weeks. He is undergoing an MRI which should help to clarify his recovery timetable. Alen Hanson will likely see the majority of at-bats in right field while Garcia is rehabbing from the ligament strain.
Jul 26 - 5:27 PM

Avisail Garcia is expected to miss at least two weeks due to a ligament strain in his right thumb.

Garcia will undergo an MRI to determine whether there is any structural damage in the thumb. Alen Hanson will play right field in his place against the Cubs on Wednesday and figures to see extended at-bats while Garcia is out of action. Prior to the injury, the outfielder was hitting .303/.347/.485 with 13 homers and 54 RBI across 88 games played.
Jul 26 - 5:20 PM

Avisail Garcia clubbed a pair of home runs and plated three as the White Sox fell to the Mariners in extra innings on Sunday.

Garcia got the scoring started with a solo shot off of Andrew Moore in the second inning then tacked on a two-run blast in the third that increased the White Sox' early lead to 5-0. The first-time All-Star is in the midst of an outstanding season, slashing .313/.356/.511 with 13 homers and 54 RBI.
Jul 16 - 5:41 PM

Avisail Garcia had two hits, two steals and scored both White Sox runs in Friday's loss to the Mariners.

Two steals? That doubles his season total. Garcia is a .500 basestealer; he was 7-for-14 in 2015, 4-for-8 last year and 2-for-4 this season going into tonight. He was also in a 2-for-34 slump with no runs scored or RBI in his final nine games before the All-Star break.
Jul 14 - 11:40 PM

Avisail Garcia (finger) is back in the White Sox' lineup Sunday.

It's his first start since Wednesday, as he's been battling a sprained right middle finger. Garcia is in right field and batting fifth against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies.
Jul 9 - 12:16 PM

Avisail Garcia (finger) is not in the White Sox's lineup Saturday against the Rockies.

Garcia is out of the lineup with a sprained middle finger for the second straight game. He's hoping to return Sunday and could be available off the bench on Saturday, which would put him on track to play in Tuesday night's All-Star Game. Willy Garcia will handle right field in his absence. He's batting eighth against Rockies hurler Jeff Hoffman.
Jul 8 - 5:36 PM

Avisail Garcia (finger) plans to be ready to play Sunday.

This would also set up him to be ready for the All-Star Game. Garcia is dealing with a sprained right middle finger and has had some trouble gripping the bat, but a couple of days off should help.
Jul 7 - 7:29 PM

Avisail Garcia was scratched from the White Sox' lineup Friday because of a sprained right middle finger.

It's unclear how Garcia suffered the injury, but it looks to be a day-to-day situation. Alen Hanson has taken his spot in right field. Daily Slant: Garcia's absence doesn't bode particularly well for the White Sox offense, but they still have some appealing pieces in Coors. German Marquez sees a drop in strikeouts at home (16.4 K% at home, 23.0% on the road) and allows more in the way of HRs (1.21 HR/9 at home, 0.68 on the road), so while he isn't an ideal pitcher to stack against, Alen Hanson is a premier value play across the industry.
