Avisail Garcia went 1-for-4 with a single and a pair of strike outs in his return to the White Sox' lineup on Friday.
Unfortunately, Garcia's long-awaited return came during a game in which they were slaughtered by the Athletics. The 27-year-old outfielder will probably sit out the nightcap as a precautionary measure before jumping right back in on Saturday. Jun 22 - 7:16 PM

White Sox activated OF Avisail Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia will return to the White Sox active roster for Friday's doubleheader against the A's after missing nearly two months with a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring. The 27-year-old outfielder was batting just .233/.250/.315 in 76 plate appearances before the injury, but he's capable of much better results moving forward. Garcia went 9-for-25 (.360) with three home runs, three doubles, and nine RBI on his seven-game minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) could rejoin the White Sox during their upcoming weekend series against the Athletics.

Garcia is currently on a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte where he has hit .353/.450/.706 with a homer, three doubles and six RBI in his first five games. He could be available on many deep league waiver wires and could be worth a look with his imminent return.
Jun 18 - 9:05 PM

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Garcia has been out since April so he would figure to need a handful of rehab games before being activated. He batted only .233/.250/.315 with one home run over his first 18 games before going on the disabled list.
Jun 8 - 5:22 PM

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) was able to run the bases on Wednesday.

It's the first time Garcia has been able to run the bases since his injury, and he told reporters that he's feeling great with no pain. The White Sox are hoping to have Garcia begin a rehab assignment next week, and assuming there are no setbacks, he could be back with the White Sox before the end of June.
Jun 6 - 6:30 PM

Avisail Garcia underwent a follow-up MRI and received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his ailing right hamstring.

Garcia hasn't progressed as hoped, although the follow-up MRI showed improvement from the first one. He's already missed nearly a month and is not expected back until the end of June.
May 20 - 2:23 PM

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) went through some outfield drills on Thursday.

He'll continue to ramp up his activity level as he comes back from a Grade 2 right hamstring strain. It sounds like it will be a while before Garcia returns. "He’s not completely asymptomatic in terms of what he’s feeling, so we’re being very cautious with how we ramp him up," White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said.
May 18 - 11:17 AM

White Sox GM Rick Hahn noted Tuesday that Avisail Garcia has a Grade 2 hamstring strain.

"So it’s going to take a few weeks to get him back active at this level," Hahn noted. Garcia was placed on the disabled list April 24 and will probably be sidelined until sometime closer to the middle of May. Daniel Palka has been hitting pretty well in Garcia's absence.
May 1 - 6:54 PM

White Sox placed OF Avisail Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Garcia pulled up lame trying to run out a grounder in the second inning on Monday and had to be helped off the field. There's no clear timetable for his return. Daniel Palka has been called up to take his place on the active roster for Chicago.
Apr 24 - 12:07 PM

Avisail Garcia exited Monday's game against the Mariners with a right hamstring strain.

Garcia had to be helped off the field, and the fact that the White Sox are already calling the injury a strain isn't a good sign. He'll be re-evaluated Tuesday, but a trip to the disabled list seems likely. The outfielder had an RBI single in one of his two plate appearances before exiting.
Apr 23 - 8:58 PM

Avisail Garcia went 3-for-5 and hit a long homer Tuesday in a losing cause against the Blue Jays.

The homer off J.A. Happ was estimated at 481 feet. It was Garcia's first homer, but he's been hitting the ball hard in all four games for the White Sox and he's currently batting .368.
Apr 3 - 10:50 PM

Avisail Garcia went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in Saturday's Cactus League win over the Dodgers.

Garcia hit a fly-ball RBI double in the second inning of Saturday's contest and later added another two-bagger. It's the continuation of what's been a stellar spring training for the outfielder thus far. Garcia has collected eight extra-base hits in just 13 games played. This is all encouraging coming on the heels of a breakout .330/.380/.506 batting line for the 2017 season.
Mar 17 - 7:17 PM

Avisail Garcia won his arbitration case against the White Sox and will earn a $6.7 million salary in 2018.

Garcia was offered a $5.85 million salary from the White Sox when arbitration figures were exchanged in January. The arbitration panel sided with the player in this particular case. Garcia, 26, broke out to the tune of a .330/.380/.506 batting line with 18 home runs and 80 RBI over 136 games for Chicago in 2017.

The arbitration panel will pick one of those salaries, with the decision expected sometime Wednesday.
