Avisail Garcia collected three hits Wednesday in the White Sox’s Cactus League loss to the Brewers.
Garcia showed off his power stroke by depositing a solo home run to center field to lead off the second inning. He singled in his next two at-bats and later scored on a two-run shot by Tyler Saladino in the seventh inning. Garcia was caught stealing in the fourth. The 25-year-old is off to a blistering start this spring with 10 hits in his first 23 at-bats. The plan is for Garcia to serve as the White Sox’s everyday right fielder. Mar 8 - 7:11 PM

Avisail Garcia lost 14 pounds over the offseason.

He currently checks in at 254 pounds but would like to get down to 248 by the end of spring training. Garcia appears motivated and knows that the 2017 campaign could be a pivotal one for him after he produced just a .252/.308/.374 batting line while playing poor defense over the previous two seasons. "I do my routine every morning,’’ Garcia said. "After practice, I go back to the gym. When you work and believe in yourself nothing can stop you."

White Sox and OF Avisail Garcia avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3 million contract.

Garcia has been a big disappointment to this point, putting up a .250/.308/.380 batting line in his first three full seasons in Chicago. He was arbitration-eligible for a second time this winter.

Avisail Garcia went 4-for-5 with his 11th homer and three runs scored Monday in an 11-4 rout of the Indians.

It's his third career four-hit game and first of this year. Garcia, who has a .707 OPS, has been playing regularly in spite of his limitations; the plan was to drop him into a platoon role after Justin Morneau joined the team, but he's been a regular in right field with Austin Jackson done. He hasn't done a lot to justify the playing time, but the White Sox are lacking any particularly good alternatives. The White Sox will have to decide this winter whether it's worth $3 million or so to bring him back for 2017. They could choose to non-tender him.

White Sox activated OF/DH Avisail Garcia from the 15-day disabled list.

He's back after missing a little over two weeks with a sprained right knee. Garcia was an everyday player early in the year but the Justin Morneau signing has pushed him into a part-time role at DH. The 25-year-old carries a .240/.309/.378 slash line with nine homers in 86 appearances this year.

Avisail Garcia (knee) hopes to begin a rehab assignment on Saturday at Triple-A Charlotte.

He's slated to play three games for Charlotte before being activated. Garcia has missed the last two weeks of action with a sprained right knee.

White Sox placed OF/DH Avisail Garcia on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 7, with a sprained right knee.

Jason Coats has been called up to take his place on the active roster. It's unclear how long Garcia will be sidelined. The 25-year-old is batting .240 with nine homers and a .688 OPS over 86 games this season.

Avisail Garcia didn't start Tuesday but came off the bench to homer twice in a loss to the Tigers.

Garcia entered the game after Charlie Tilson got hurt and launched a two-run shot off of Shane Greene and a solo blast off of Mark Lowe. He now has eight dingers on the season to go along with a .240/.308/.371 batting line in what has been another disappointing season.

Avisail Garcia was removed for a pinch-hitter after going 0-for-2 in Friday's game against the Angels.

With Justin Morneau up, Garcia's primary role is to serve as a DH against left-handers. The problem there is that Garcia has been even worse against lefties than righties this year. He deserves to be in Triple-A, and there's a good chance he'll find himself there soon.

Avisail Garcia went 2-for-4 with an RBI double Friday against the Indians.

Garcia drove in the tying run in the top of the ninth inning before the Indians eventually won it on a walk-off homer from Carlos Santana. The 25-year-old has perked of late, hitting .375 (9-for-24) over his last six games, but he still has an underwhelming .260/.313/.385 batting line on the year and isn’t a recommended option in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

DHing and batting ninth, Avisail Garcia had two hits and two RBI against the Nationals on Wednesday.

The White Sox don't have much faith in Garcia at this point, but they also don't have anyone to replace him in the DH spot right now. They'll continue to keep their eyes open. At the moment, Garcia is hitting .248 with a .698 OPS.

Avisail Garcia clubbed his fifth home run of the season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to lead the White Sox to victory over the Royals.

Garcia blasted a three-run homer off Yordano Ventura in the fourth inning that increased the White Sox lead to 6-1. He also singled and scored in the contest, finishing the day 2-for-4. For the season, Garcia is hitting .259/.316/.424 with five homers and 18 RBI.

Avisail Garcia is out of the White Sox starting lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader.

It'll be the third game off in a row for Garcia, who's batting .248/.313/.413 in 134 plate appearances this season. Brett Lawrie is at DH and Carlos Sanchez is at second base for Chicago in the early game versus Indians right-hander Mike Clevinger.

Avisail Garcia is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

It's the second day off in the past three games for Garcia. Jerry Sands is starting at first base and batting cleanup while Jose Abreu shifts over to the designated hitter role in the lineup.

Avisail Garcia is not in the White Sox's starting lineup Thursday against the Astros.

Garcia is just getting a routine day off. Jerry Sands will serve as the DH and hit seventh. Garcia struggled in April (.214 AVG) but has bounced back by hitting .319 with a .373 OBP in May.
