Avisail Garcia (hamstring) is not expected to be ready to play by Tuesday.
Garcia tweaked his hamstring on Friday and is sitting out his second straight game Sunday. It appears he won't be ready after Monday's off day, either, although there hasn't been talk of a disabled list stint yet. Jerry Sands will handle the designated hitter duties while Garcia is out. Date:

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) is not in the White Sox lineup Saturday against the Orioles.

He's not expected to play on Sunday either. The White Sox are off on Monday, which means the earliest we'd see him is Tuesday. Garcia tweaked his hamstring in Friday night's loss. "It’s a little tight," said manager Robin Ventura. "I don’t think it’s a DL situation there but he definitely did something going down the line there." Jerry Sands will DH and bat seventh Saturday with Garcia sidelined.
Apr 30 - 6:39 PM

Avisail Garcia tweaked his hamstring during the final out of Friday's loss to the Orioles.

Garcia will be re-evaluated on Saturday, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit out on Saturday as a precautionary measure. He collected an RBI triple in Friday's game before suffering the injury.
Apr 29 - 10:10 PM

Avisail Garcia hit a solo homer, drove in two runs and scored three times in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays.

Garcia got the scoring going with a dinger in the third inning and wrapped up the scoring with a sac fly in the ninth. It was his third longball of the season, although he's hitting only .186/.269/.373 this month. The White Sox had little trouble against R.A. Dickey and the Jays' bullpen, piling up 15 hits -- including three homers -- and 10 runs.
Apr 26 - 9:54 PM

Avisail Garcia went 0-for-3 in the loss to the Angels on Thursday, dropping his average back down to .146.

Matt Davidson hasn't been any good in Triple-A after his big spring, so the White Sox lack any particularly intriguing options to take over for Garcia at DH. Jerry Sands is probably their best alternate, and he's not really any better of a bet than Garcia going forward. One wonders if they'll be interested in bringing in Mike Morse, who was just released by the Pirates.
Apr 21 - 5:30 PM

Avisail Garcia homered and doubled against the Twins on Thursday.

Garcia sat out Wednesday's game and watched Jerry Sands homer in his place. Back in there today, he collected his second and third extra-base hits of the year and raised his average to .207. He needs to keep it up to ensure that he plays regularly.
Apr 14 - 4:45 PM

Avisail Garcia anchored the White Sox with two hits including a three-run homer in Saturday's win over the Indians.

Garcia's three-run blast came as part of a five-run seventh inning. Adam LaRoche's surprise retirement has allowed Garcia to settle in as the team's primary DH. Garcia is only hitting .190 for the year but perhaps Saturday's outburst is a sign that better times are ahead.
Apr 9 - 5:10 PM

Avisail Garcia went 0-for-3 on Wednesday to finish the series against the A's 1-for-11 with one walk.

Garcia had the big spring (.361/.409/.705 in 61 at-bats), which should buy him additional time. The White Sox, though, cannot run him out there all season if he doesn't play better than he did in 2015 (.257/.309/.366 in 553 at-bats). They don't have an obvious replacement for him after trading Trayce Thompson, but it shouldn't be too hard to come up with another DH candidate.
Apr 7 - 1:09 AM

Avisail Garcia closed out the Cactus League slate in style, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI as the White Sox pounded the Padres 10-2 on Saturday.

It was a fitting end to a torrid spring for the outfielder, who ended Cactus League competition with five home runs, 19 RBI and a 1.114 OPS. He needed a strong showing after the club contemplated their options at his position this winter, and it's hard to imagine the White Sox not at least giving him a shot to follow up on his strong spring. He's not far removed from being a hyped prospect, and perhaps we'll see him finally start to cash in on some of that promise.
Apr 2 - 7:27 PM

Avisail Garcia (wrist) hit his third home run of spring training in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

Garcia made the start in right field, the first time since Sunday he has taken the field. He is working his way through a bruised right wrist. Still just 24, Garcia hit .257/.309/.365 with 13 homers, 59 RBI and seven steals in 2015. With Adam LaRoche hanging up his cleats, we'll see if Garcia can take advantage of what should be a golden starting opportunity.
Mar 23 - 7:18 PM

Avisail Garcia (wrist) will DH Tuesday against the Giants.

Garcia will test out his wrist in batting practice before the game. He acknowledged the wrist is still sore from Saturday's fall but it doesn't sound like something that will carry over into the regular season. Garcia was expected to split time with Austin Jackson this year but he should be close to an every-day player now that Adam LaRoche has decided to hang it up.
Mar 22 - 12:29 PM

Avisail Garcia had a root canal on Monday.

That's the primary reason he is absent from the White Sox lineup on Monday in Arizona. The other reason is a minor right wrist injury. Garcia should return Tuesday.
Mar 21 - 2:47 PM

Avisail Garcia (wrist) is out of the White Sox lineup again on Monday.

Garcia bruised his right wrist while trying to track down a ball on Saturday. X-rays came back negative, so the assumption is that he'll be fine after a few days of rest. The young slugger is in line for everyday-like at-bats in Chicago following the sudden retirement of Adam LaRoche. There's still some intriguing upside here.
Mar 21 - 12:26 PM

Avisail Garcia was scratched from the White Sox lineup on Sunday due to a bruised right wrist.

Garcia sustained the injury when he fell in the first field corner chasing down a ball during Saturday's game against the Dodgers. X-rays came back negative and Garcia should be ready to return to action in a day or two. With Adam LaRoche's unexpected retirement, Garcia once again stands to receive everyday at-bats to begin the season.
Mar 20 - 9:03 PM

Avisail Garcia continued his strong spring Friday against the Cubs with an RBI single.

Garcia is now batting .414 (12-for-29) with two home runs and 12 RBI this spring. He appeared headed for a part-time role after the addition of Austin Jackson, but Adam LaRoche’s retirement should open the door for regular at-bats again. Whether he’ll take advantage of it is an open question.
