Avisail Garcia reached base in all four of his plate appearances in his return to the lineup Tuesday.

Garcia sat out Monday after leaving Sunday's game with a tight groin, but he showed no ill effects in this one, singling twice, walking and reaching on a hit by pitch. He's upped his batting line to .382/.433/.629.

Avisail Garcia (groin) is not in Monday's lineup against the Royals.

Garcia left Sunday's game with left groin tightness and the White Sox want to give him some extra rest. The struggling Jacob May will cover right field in his absence.
May 1 - 4:01 PM

White Sox manager Rick Renteria said that Avisail Garcia's removal from Sunday's game was precautionary and that the outfielder could return on Monday.

Garcia had been bothered by minor groin tightness on Saturday and felt it again on Sunday so Renteria went the safe route and pulled him from the game. It sounds as though the injury is very minor and he should return to the lineup early in the week.
Apr 30 - 5:00 PM

Avisail Garcia departed Sunday's game in Detroit with left groin tightness.

Garcia first felt tightness during Saturday's game but played through it. However, it came back Sunday and this time it was enough to force him from the game. The White Sox should offer an update on the hot-hitting outfielder after the game.
Apr 30 - 3:14 PM

Avisail Garcia admitted to playing through some tightness in his upper left leg/groin area on Saturday.

The cold weather in Detroit didn't help, but Garcia made it through the full game. The outfielder said he would be treated with stretching and ice and it doesn't sound like anything that will force him to miss any time.
Apr 30 - 9:17 AM

Avisail Garcia continued to feast on Tigers' pitching on Friday, going 3-for-5 with a homer in a 7-3 victory.

Garcia and teammate Todd Frazier hit back-to-back solo homers off of Matt Boyd leading off the second inning to get the White Sox on the board. He added an RBI single in the third inning that plated Tim Anderson. Garcia is locked in at the plate and his now hitting a robust .388/.430/.638 with five homers and 19 RBI on the season.
Apr 28 - 11:17 PM

Avisail Garcia's huge start to the season continued Tuesday with a three-run homer versus the Yankees.

The White Sox had managed just two hits off of Luis Severino through one out in the seventh inning before Garcia parked one well over the left-center field wall. He did strike out in his other two plate appearances, but Garcia is now off to a blistering .440/.481/.680 start. We've been teased by the 25-year-old before, so it's hard to fully trust the hot start. Still, mixed leaguers can't deny him a roster spot at this point.
Apr 18 - 9:37 PM

Avisail Garcia went 4-for-5 with a go-ahead two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1, 10-inning win over the Twins.

Garcia's first three hits went for singles. The fourth one ended up landing considerably further out, as the outfielder clubbed a two-run home run off Ryan Pressly with two outs in the top of the 10th to boost the White Sox to a 3-1 advantage, one which they would maintain without issue in the bottom of the frame. Garcia has now picked up 20 hits in his first 43 at-bats, which works out to a scalding .465 average. You can reasonably expect that mark to drop closer to his .262 career mark as the season progresses, but so long as he is hitting like this, he is worth a speculative flier in both mixed- (and especially) AL-only formats.
Apr 16 - 7:55 PM

Avisail Garcia kept on hitting Thursday, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI in a win over the Indians.

Garcia has carried over a good spring to enjoy a tremendous start to the season, batting .452/.500/.645 while hitting safely in each of his eight games played. They were all singles Thursday, but a two-run single in the second inning preceded an RBI single in the eighth as the Sox hung 10 runs on the Tribe. We've been waiting for Garcia's breakout since he was part of the three-team deal that sent Jake Peavy to the Red Sox and Jose Iglesias to the Tigers in 2013, and while eight games do not a season make, it's plausible that this is the start of a career year for the 25-year-old. He's worth a speculative add in your league.
Apr 14 - 8:17 AM

Avisail Garcia finished 3-for-4 with an RBI triple and a two-run home run as the White Sox downed the Twins 6-2 on Saturday.

Garcia had the run-scoring triple in the second inning before hitting the two-run shot in the sixth. Geovany Soto followed with a homer of his own, going back-to-back. Garcia is off to a scorching start to the season, going 8-for-16 with hits in each of his first four games. Still just 25 years old, it's not a stretch to imagine this year being a career year for Garcia.
Apr 8 - 9:56 PM

Avisail Garcia collected three hits Wednesday in the White Sox’s Cactus League loss to the Brewers.

Garcia showed off his power stroke by depositing a solo home run to center field to lead off the second inning. He singled in his next two at-bats and later scored on a two-run shot by Tyler Saladino in the seventh inning. Garcia was caught stealing in the fourth. The 25-year-old is off to a blistering start this spring with 10 hits in his first 23 at-bats. The plan is for Garcia to serve as the White Sox’s everyday right fielder.
Mar 8 - 7:11 PM

Avisail Garcia lost 14 pounds over the offseason.

He currently checks in at 254 pounds but would like to get down to 248 by the end of spring training. Garcia appears motivated and knows that the 2017 campaign could be a pivotal one for him after he produced just a .252/.308/.374 batting line while playing poor defense over the previous two seasons. "I do my routine every morning,’’ Garcia said. "After practice, I go back to the gym. When you work and believe in yourself nothing can stop you."
Feb 20 - 5:37 PM

White Sox and OF Avisail Garcia avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3 million contract.

Garcia has been a big disappointment to this point, putting up a .250/.308/.380 batting line in his first three full seasons in Chicago. He was arbitration-eligible for a second time this winter.

Avisail Garcia went 4-for-5 with his 11th homer and three runs scored Monday in an 11-4 rout of the Indians.

It's his third career four-hit game and first of this year. Garcia, who has a .707 OPS, has been playing regularly in spite of his limitations; the plan was to drop him into a platoon role after Justin Morneau joined the team, but he's been a regular in right field with Austin Jackson done. He hasn't done a lot to justify the playing time, but the White Sox are lacking any particularly good alternatives. The White Sox will have to decide this winter whether it's worth $3 million or so to bring him back for 2017. They could choose to non-tender him.
