Tommy Milone pitched reasonably well in a Saturday no-decision against the Yankees, yielding four runs on four hits over six innings.
The Twins jumped Milone out to a 5-0 lead, but the Yankees bled that away with a solo homer by Alex Rodriguez in the fourth and three more runs in the seventh (including another Rodriguez homer). Despite the late struggles, Milone was still in line for the win until the Twins bullpen coughed up four runs in the top of the ninth inning. He struck out four and walked one in the contest. Milone's been solid for the Twins since entering the rotation in early June and currently holds a 3.58 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. He'll host the Mariners in his next start. Jul 25 - 10:30 PM

Tommy Milone served up a season-worst three home runs as he was clobbered in a losing effort against the Athletics on Sunday.

The left-hander was tagged for five runs on five hits over just 2 2/3 innings in the contest. Josh Phegley blasted a two-run homer of him in the second inning, then Billy Butler and Jake Smolinski went back-to-back the following frame to chase him from the ballgame. Even with this debacle, Milone will carry a 3.38 ERA and 1.27 WHIP into Saturday's start against the Yankees.
Jul 19 - 6:58 PM

Tommy Milone kept rolling along Wednesday, spinning seven innings of one-run ball in a 5-3 win over the Orioles.

The soft-tossing left surrendered just five hits and two walks while recording five strikeouts. Milone was visited by manager Paul Molitor after issuing a two-out free pass to put two on in the seventh, but the skipper left him in and he got Caleb Joseph to line out to end the inning. The left-hander hasn't given up more than two earned runs in any of his seven starts since rejoining the rotation last month and will head into the All-Star break with a 2.84 ERA.
Jul 8 - 4:35 PM

Tommy Milone held the Royals down on Friday, allowing just one run on five hits over six innings.

Outside of a run-scoring single by Lorenzo Cain in the third inning, Milone managed to keep the Royals off the scoreboard. He struck out five and walked just one in hurling his fifth quality start in a row. The southpaw now owns a 3.02 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. Deeper AL-only formats should consider him as a pick-up, particularly with the way he's pitching at the moment. He won't strike out many batters, but his numbers are rock solid.
Jul 4 - 12:20 AM

Tommy Milone hurled six scoreless innings with nothing to show for it Sunday, settling for a no-decision against the Brewers.

Milone stifled the Brewers offense for his six innings, allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out seven. He exited in line for his fifth win, but the Twins bullpen couldn't hold the lead. Even so, it was another strong showing for the lefty, who has been largely good in his nine starts this year. Milone will carry a 3.19 ERA into Friday's contest with the Royals.
Jun 28 - 5:14 PM

Tommy Milone snagged his fourth win of the season after limiting the White Sox to two runs in six innings as the Twins won easily, 13-2, on Monday.

Milone allowed 12 base runners on 10 hits and two walks, but the White Sox capitalized only once, when Adam LaRoche hit a two-run single in the third inning. Milone also struck out two on the evening. The lefty has never been dominant in his five-year career, but has done a great job thus far for the Twins, now with a 3.59 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and a 28/15 K/BB ratio over 47 2/3 innings. Milone will take on the light-hitting Brewers in Milwaukee next.
Jun 22 - 11:45 PM

Tommy Milone was dominant in seven innings, holding the Cardinals to one run en route to a win on Wednesday.

The lefty relented a second-inning run on a Jason Heyward RBI single, but that was it. He scattered five hits overall, walked none, and struck out five. Milone's last two starts, in which he has filled in for the injured Ricky Nolasco, have been terrific. He now has a 3.67 ERA overall with a 1.25 WHIP and a 26/13 K/BB ratio over 41 2/3 innings on the year. Milone will take on the White Sox at home in next week's start.
Jun 17 - 11:15 PM

Tommy Milone allowed two runs over seven innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rangers.

It was a tough matchup on paper, but Milone held the Rangers scoreless over the first six innings before giving up a two-run homer to Elvis Andrus in the seventh. It was enough to cost him a chance at the victory. The southpaw gave up just three hits in all while walking one and striking out seven. He'll bring a 4.15 ERA into a start against the Cardinals next week at home.
Jun 12 - 11:46 PM

In his return to the Twins, Tommy Milone gave up four runs (two earned) in five innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Red Sox.

Taking the place of the injured Ricky Nolasco (ankle) in the starting rotation, Milone was tagged for nine hits, including a pair of home runs. The soft-tossing southpaw struck out 47 batters over 38 2/3 innings during his time in Triple-A, but he didn't record a single strikeout Thursday. He could stick in the back-end of the rotation for a little while, but we're not expecting much in fantasy leagues.
Jun 4 - 7:27 PM

Twins recalled LHP Tommy Milone from Triple-A Rochester.

Milone was sporting a tremendous 0.70 ERA and 47/3 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester and has a chance to stick around for a while with Ricky Nolasco (ankle) landing on the disabled list. Milone didn't have much success in a stint with the Twins earlier this year, but he may be a guy to take a chance on in pitching-starved mixed fantasy leagues. The recent spike in his strikeout rate suggests he's made some real changes.
Jun 4 - 12:13 PM

Tommy Milone will be recalled to start on Thursday against the Red Sox.

Milone has certainly earned the promotion, posting a microscopic 0.70 ERA and 47/3 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester. It could just be a spot start, assuming Ricky Nolasco (ankle) is ready to start on Saturday. Kyle Gibson will be pushed back to start Friday.
Jun 3 - 11:28 AM

Twins optioned LHP Tommy Milone to Triple-A Rochester.

Milone had been expected to be shifted to the bullpen with Ricky Nolasco slated to return on Friday, but it appears they'll keep him stretched out as a starter in Triple-A instead. He posted a 4.76 ERA and 13/11 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings in the Twins rotation.
May 1 - 11:37 PM

Tommy Milone is being moved to the bullpen.

He's getting the boot now that Ricky Nolasco (elbow) is slated to return from the disabled list. This means that Trevor May and Mike Pelfrey will remain in the starting rotation. Milone was great in his season debut, but has scuffled a bit since. He owns a 4.76 ERA and 13/11 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings.
Apr 30 - 5:42 PM

Tommy Milone allowed five runs in four innings of work Monday, resulting in a loss against the Tigers.

Four of those runs came in the first inning, as Jose Iglesias hit a solo home run and Yoenis Cespedes hit a three-run round-tripper. From there, he was able to settle down for the most part. He allowed back-to-back singles in the fifth inning before departing in favor of reliever Tim Stauffer. Stauffer allowed one of his inherited runners to score on a sacrifice fly. All told, Milone gave up eight hits, walked two, and struck out two. The lefty has a 4.76 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 13/11 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings. He'll look for better results when he takes on the White Sox at home next.
Apr 27 - 11:41 PM

Tommy Milone allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Royals.

Milone was actually in line for his third win before the bullpen faltered, but he was far from stellar. Two of the Royals' five hits were homers, and Milone also walked four in the outing. Even without the win, the southpaw owns a 3.38 ERA through three starts. He'll have a tall order when the Twins take on the Tigers on Monday.
