Twins sent LHP Tommy Milone outright to Triple-A Rochester.
Milone apparently passed through waivers unclaimed. If he accepts the assignment, he'll continue to provide rotation depth for the Twins at Triple-A, though he may want to explore his opportunities elsewhere instead. May 7 - 3:56 PM

The Twins have placed left-hander Tommy Milone on waivers, per Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Casey Fien was also waived. Milone was demoted to the bullpen last week after going winless in his first four starts with a 5.79 ERA. His lone relief outing went just as poorly as Milone scattered two hits and three runs in just 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to Houston. The 29-year-old can't reject a minor league assignment if he clears waivers.
May 5 - 8:31 PM

Tommy Milone has been moved to the Twins' bullpen.

There had been whispers of him having a start skipped, but apparently he'll be removed from the rotation altogether. Milone has posted a 5.40 ERA over five starts this season. Ricky Nolasco will move up to start Sunday and Alex Meyer will replace Milone in the rotation.
Apr 29 - 5:28 PM

Tommy Milone could have his next turn in the rotation skipped.

Milone's spot comes up Sunday, but the Twins could start Ricky Nolasco on regular rest or possibly go with Alex Meyer. The left-hander holds a 5.40 ERA in his five starts and his time in the Twins' rotation might come to a close soon.
Apr 29 - 4:55 PM

Tommy Milone yielded two runs over just 4 2/3 innings but escaped with a no-decision in Monday's 4-3 win over the Indians.

Milone did strike out five, but he yielded seven hits and walked a pair. The left-hander has failed to go five innings in three of five starts this season and now holds a 5.40 ERA. The Twins have options with Alex Meyer, Tyler Duffey and Jose Berrios, so you have to figure Milone's rotation spot is on thin ice. He's currently scheduled to face the Tigers this weekend.
Apr 25 - 11:59 PM

Tommy Milone gratefully accepted a no-decision after getting knocked around for four runs in 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday night against the Brewers.

Milone racked up a high pitch count against a suddenly-patient Brewers club, throwing 102 pitches in under five innings. He managed to strike out six, but ultimately gave up a quartet of runs on five hits and two walks. Of course, the lefty is what he is at this point in his career, a back-end starter who doesn’t strike out enough batters to be interesting and doesn’t prevent enough runs to be rosterable. He now has a 5.87 ERA in 15 1/3 innings.
Apr 21 - 12:10 AM

Tommy Milone surrendered four runs over six innings Friday against the Angels, but didn’t factor into the decision.

The soft-tossing southpaw struck out two and walked one. Milone was solid for most of the night, holding the Angels scoreless until the sixth, but he gave up the lead on home runs by Albert Pujols and Kole Calhoun in the seventh. The Twins eventually game back to win and get him off the hook. Milone has a 5.06 ERA through his first two starts and has allowed four home runs in just 10 2/3 innings. Home runs are always going to be part of his game and he’s not a good source of strikeouts, so he’s strictly an AL-only option.
Apr 16 - 12:35 AM

Tommy Milone was chased in the fifth inning Saturday, allowing four runs -- two earned -- over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Royals.

Milone pitched well for three innings before running into trouble in the fourth, allowing solo homers to Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain. An error in the fifth inning led to two more runs and eventually spelled the end for Milone. The southpaw gave up four hits with one walk and four strikeouts on the evening. He'll try to be better Friday against the Angels.
Apr 9 - 10:36 PM

Tommy Milone held the Red Sox to two runs in six innings Tuesday to pick up a win.

Milone was informed two days ago that he had made the Twins' rotation, though it's been at least a couple of weeks since that was in serious doubt. He's not going to have a great ERA, but he could be modestly useful in AL-only leagues.
Mar 29 - 4:17 PM

Twins manager Paul Molitor confirmed on Sunday that Tommy Milone has won a spot in the rotation.

He'll be the No. 4 starter, leaving Tyler Duffey and Ricky Nolasco to battle for the fifth spot. Milone earned the job by posting a 2.40 ERA over four spring starts. He should be a solid, albeit underwhelming, rotation member for the Twins.
Mar 27 - 12:18 PM's Rhett Bollinger writes that Tommy Milone "appears to be a lock" for the Twins' rotation.

Bollinger adds that Monday "will be an important day" for Tyler Duffey and Ricky Nolasco as they battle for the final spot in the rotation. Duffey will start that day against the Pirates, while Nolasco will start a minor league game. Manager Paul Molitor pumped Duffey up early on in camp, but Nolasco has out-pitched him in Grapefruit League play. Meanwhile, Milone boasts a 2.40 ERA over four spring starts.
Mar 25 - 12:29 PM

Tommy Milone yielded two runs in six innings Thursday against the Marlins.

Milone's rotation spot should be pretty well clinched now, leaving the fifth spot for Tyler Duffey or Ricky Nolasco. Milone will probably have a little value in AL-only leagues.
Mar 24 - 4:38 PM

Tommy Milone allowed one hit over four shutout innings Monday in the Twins' 5-3 victory over the Cardinals.

Milone has allowed two runs in nine innings this spring. The Twins already penciled Tyler Duffey into their rotation and they still owe Ricky Nolasco a bunch of money, but they can't possibly deny Milone a rotation spot if he keeps this up all spring. After all, he was one of their best starters last year, going 9-5 with a 3.92 ERA.
Mar 14 - 4:18 PM

Tommy Milone allowed one run and four hits over two innings Friday against the Pirates.

It's kind of bizarre that Tyler Duffey, with all of 10 major league starts under his belt, is being penciled into the Twins rotation and Milone, who was the Twins' second-best starter while going 9-5 with a 3.92 ERA last year, is having to compete with Ricky Nolasco for a spot. Still, it'd seem to be hard to demote Milone unless Nolasco turns in a positively outstanding spring.
Mar 4 - 5:10 PM

Twins and LHP Tommy Milone avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.5 million contract.

Milone went 9-5 with a 3.92 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 91/36 K/BB ratio over 128 2/3 innings last season. He'll likely have to battle for a rotation spot this spring despite that representative effort.
