Tommy Milone has elected free agency.
Milone was removed from the Twins' 40-man roster and has decided to get an early jump on free agency. The left-hander held a 5.71 ERA over 19 appearances -- 12 starts -- this season and it wouldn't be a surprise if he wound up having to settle for a minor league deal. Oct 18 - 12:43 AM

Twins sent LHP Tommy Milone outright to Triple-A Rochester.

He's now off the 40-man roster. Milone posted a 5.71 ERA over 19 appearances -- 12 starts -- for the Twins this season. He's arbitration-eligible this winter but is sure to be non-tendered.
Oct 17 - 6:32 PM

Twins activated LHP Tommy Milone from the 15-day disabled list.

He's been out for the last month with left biceps tendinitis. Milone has posted a 5.68 ERA in 15 appearances this season.
Sep 9 - 4:55 PM

Tommy Milone (biceps) threw a 30-pitch simulated game without issue on Tuesday.

He'll probably face live hitters one more time before returning to the Twins' active roster. The left-hander owns a rough 5.68 ERA in 15 appearances this season.
Sep 6 - 5:14 PM

Tommy Milone (biceps) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

The session went well and now Milone will throw a live batting practice on Tuesday. Milone seems to be trending in the right direction but with Minnesota in last place, there's no need to rush him back before he's ready. The left-hander has contributed an underwhelming 5.68 ERA over 15 outings (12 starts) this year.
Sep 3 - 4:34 PM

Tommy Milone (biceps) is not expected to throw for at least another five days.

Milone was placed on the 15-day disabled list last Friday with left biceps tendinitis and is still in shutdown mode. He seems doubtful to return before September.
Aug 16 - 4:54 PM

Twins placed LHP Tommy Milone on the 15-day disabled list with left biceps tendinitis.

Milone was pulled from an appearance Thursday with the ailment. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined.
Aug 12 - 4:44 PM

Tommy Milone left Thursday's game against the Astros with tightness in his left shoulder.

That might explain why he lasted only three innings. The Twins should know more on Milone's status after his MRI results come back. Andrew Albers pitched the last six innings after Milone's early exit, allowing 11 hits and five runs (three earned) while setting a Twins record for the most pitches in a relief appearance with 108.
Aug 11 - 11:03 PM

Tommy Milone was battered for five runs over three innings in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Astros.

After using a position player to pitch an inning in the afternoon game, the Twins were certainly hoping Milone could offer them some length in the nightcap. Instead, the southpaw was chased early after giving up two home runs among his five hits allowed. Milone is now 3-4 with a 5.68 ERA overall. An interleague date with the Braves is on tap for Milone on Wednesday.
Aug 11 - 10:06 PM

Tommy Milone has been moved to the bullpen.

Milone has posted a 4.71 ERA over seven starts since returning to the majors in mid-June. The Twins intend to give Tyler Duffey another chance in the starting rotation. He's starting Wednesday against the Indians.
Aug 1 - 8:20 PM

Tommy Milone was touched up for four runs in 5 1/3 innings and was fortunate to escape with a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday.

He didn't walk anybody but he gave up nine hits, including three doubles and a home run. He now has a 5.13 ERA with only 39 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings. He will get a chance to redeem himself on Thursday against the Indians.
Jul 30 - 11:06 PM

Tommy Milone struggled in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox, yielding eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Milone wasn't helped by his defense, but given that seven of the eight runs on his line scored on home runs, he has nobody to truly blame but himself. Hanley Ramirez and Travis Shaw cracked three-run homers in the third and fifth innings (respectively). Dustin Pedroia also notched a solo dinger in that fifth. Milone will carry an unappealing 4.97 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into a home start against the White Sox next time he toes the rubber.
Jul 24 - 6:59 PM

Tommy Milone took a shutout into the ninth and settled for a win after allowing two runs in 8 1/3 innings Tuesday against the Tigers.

Milone had a one-hitter going until the Tigers delivered three straight singles against him in the ninth. He then got a sac fly before being lifted in favor of Brandon Kintzler, who allowed two more singles before getting the last two outs. It was Milone's third straight victory after he opened the season winless in six starts and a relief appearance. His fantasy value remains limited to deep AL-only leagues.
Jul 19 - 10:50 PM

Tommy Milone won his second consecutive start on Sunday, limiting the Rangers to two runs on five hits over five frames.

The southpaw struck out three and walked three in the ballgame. While he wasn't great, the Twins offense provided more than enough run support to give him the easy victory. Milone's first half concludes with a 2-2 record, 5.23 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 28/14 K/BB ratio across 41 1/3 innings.
Jul 10 - 6:27 PM

Tommy Milone held his former team in check Tuesday, spinning six frames of one-run ball in an 11-4 victory over the Athletics.

Milone recorded just two strikeouts, but he also allowed only five hits and one walk, with a Marcus Semien solo shot representing the only tally against him. The southpaw had struggled in each of his lat two starts since rejoining the rotation, so he might have needed this effort to keep his spot. Milone will take on the Rangers on Sunday.
