Tommy Milone surrendered three runs in five innings Thursday in a no-decision versus the Red Sox.
It sounds as though the Twins are far from committed to Mike Pelfrey in the rotation, which could lead to Milone getting the gig. He has a 4.50 ERA and an 8/4 K/BB ratio in 14 innings this spring, so he's not exactly running away with the gig. Mar 26 - 4:48 PM

Tommy Milone surrendered four runs through four innings in his start Saturday against the Orioles.

Milone had pitched five scoreless innings this spring before his odd day today. The guess right now is that Milone will make the Twins as a middle reliever, with Mike Pelfrey claiming the fifth spot in the rotation. It's not set in stone, though. Neither Milone nor Pelfrey is very interesting for fantasy purposes. Especially not Pelfrey.

Tommy Milone pitched three scoreless innings Wednesday in his start against the Rays.

Milone struck out three and walked none. He's opened the spring with five scoreless innings, all against Tampa Bay. Milone is competing with Mike Pelfrey, Trevor May and Alex Meyer for the fifth spot in Minnesota's rotation.

Tommy Milone pitched two scoreless innings Friday in his start versus the Rays.

The Twins have already made it clear that they don't see Mike Pelfrey as a reliever, suggesting that Milone might be on the outside looking in at the rotation when the season begins. He does seem like a better bet than Pelfrey to us, but given that he's a flyball pitcher set to work in front of a dreadful defensive outfield, he's still not a very appealing option.
Mar 6 - 4:22 PM

Tommy Milone admitted Saturday that he had a benign tumor removed from his neck on December 4.

He was able to resume throwing two weeks later and feels much better now after dealing with neck issues for much of the 2014 season. The 27-year-old southpaw has a strong chance to enter the 2015 campaign as a member of the Twins rotation and has appeal as a late-round option in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Twins and LHP Tommy Milone avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.775 million contract.

It's a significant raise for Milone, who was in his first year of arbitration eligibility. The left-hander held a 4.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 75/37 K/BB ratio over 118 innings for the A's and Twins last season and is in line to serve as Minnesota's No. 5 starter in 2015.
Jan 16 - 11:30 AM

Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Tommy Milone is "penciled into" the Twins' 2015 rotation.

Milone wasn't very good in 2014, posting a 4.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 75/37 K/BB ratio over 118 innings for the A's and Twins. He was much better from 2011-13, though, and projects the left-hander to make a reasonable $2.8 million in arbitration. Milone should be a decent back-end starter for Minnesota.

Tommy Milone threw a scoreless relief inning in his return to action Saturday.

Milone's previous appearance was on September 2, as he's been dealing with shoulder fatigue and a neck injury. Being able to make it back even for just a one-inning showing has to make him feel better going into the offseason.

Tommy Milone (neck) threw about 30-35 pitches in the bullpen Monday.

Milone was originally nursing a fatigued left shoulder, but a lingering neck injury has been the bigger issue recently. The good news is that he has made progress following a cortisone shot. He could pitch in a game as soon as Thursday, though he would do so as a reliever.

Twins executive vice president Terry Ryan confirmed Saturday that Tommy Milone (neck) had a cortisone injection at some point in the middle of the week.

It continues to look unlikely that the veteran southpaw will make it back before the end of the season, even though he was able to do some long-tossing on Friday. Anthony Swarzak will continue to occupy his spot in the rotation.

Tommy Milone (neck) will do some long-tossing Friday after playing light catch the last couple days.

The Twins are holding out hope that Milone can make it back before the end of the season, but it's not looking likely at this point. Anthony Swarzak will make another start in his place on Sunday.

An MRI on Tommy Milone's neck showed only inflammation.

The Twins are hopeful that Milone will return before the end of the month, but it's no guarantee. The left-hander has put up a 7.84 ERA over five starts with the Twins.

Tommy Milone (neck) might not pitch again this season.

Milone tried to throw a bullpen session Saturday but said "it was not good." He had been nursing a fatigued shoulder, but the lefty felt pain shoot up his neck while long-tossing Wednesday and again throughout his session Saturday. "I could feel it on pretty much every throw," Milone said. "It wasn’t bad but I could tell I was holding back. I was trying to not make my neck hurt. The last two pitches I tried to let it go like I would normally in a game. And it didn’t feel good. We shut it down." Anthony Swarzak will start on Monday versus the Tigers assuming he isn't needed in the bullpen Sunday.

Tommy Milone (neck) is unlikely to start on Monday.

Milone had his start pushed back until Monday due to Friday's rain out, but his neck soreness continues to be an issue. Fantasy owners shouldn't count on him over the final two weeks of the season.
Sat, Sep 13, 2014 01:40:00 PM

Tommy Milone's next scheduled start has been pushed back to Monday versus the Tigers following Friday's rainout.

The postponement will allow the Twins to give Milone some extra rest since he's battled shoulder issues this month. The lefty holds a 7.84 ERA over five starts since joining the Twins.
