Tommy Milone held the White Sox to one run over seven innings Saturday in a no-decision.
Milone was fantastic, striking out seven batters and issuing only one walk while surrendering just four hits. But he left the game at a 1-1 tie and Oakland reliever Sean Doolittle coughed up three runs to the White Sox in the eighth inning. Milone will take a 6-5 record, 3.69 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into his next start against the Mariners. He has been dominant in two consecutive outings. Jun 8 - 6:42 PM

Tommy Milone allowed two runs over seven innings Monday in the Athletics' 11-2 rout of the Brewers.

Milone cruised tonight, walking none and throwing just 85 pitches in seven innings. Only Rickie Weeks, with a homer and a triple, did any damage against him. It's just the second time in seven tries this year that Milone has delivered a quality start on the road. He has a 2.43 ERA in five starts in Oakland, but a 5.06 ERA elsewhere. Next up is one more road start, but it comes against a struggling White Sox offense.
Jun 3 - 11:56 PM

Tommy Milone yielded five runs over seven innings Friday as part of a no-decision against the Astros.

All five runs scored in the fifth inning, as Milone gave up a solo homer to Matt Dominguez, an RBI single to Jose Altuve and a two-run homer to J.D. Martinez. He struck out six and walked none in the no-decision. Milone now owns a 3.80 ERA on the season, though he unsurprisingly has enjoyed most of his success at home. He'll get the Giants next week in San Francisco.
May 24 - 11:46 PM

Tommy Milone earned his first win since April 15 by pinning the Royals to one run over six innings Saturday.

He scattered five hits, striking out four and walking three. Milone won his first three starts and lost his next five. It wasn't all his fault -- Oakland's offense failed to show up for any of those games, averaging a little over a run per nine innings. Milone carries a 3.47 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into a tasty matchup against the Astros next week.
May 19 - 12:30 AM

Tommy Milone allowed five runs on six hits and three walks over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Mariners.

Milone continues to struggle on the road, where he has a 3.86 ERA. He's now winless in his last five starts after winning his first three games to open the season. Milone hasn't been getting much run support in any of his starts and will be a risky fantasy option in his matchup on Saturday vs. the Royals.
May 12 - 7:18 PM

Tommy Milone didn't deserve a loss but got one anyway Tuesday, allowing just an unearned run over seven innings against the Indians.

Milone gave up just five hits, didn't walk anyone and registered five strikeouts. The only run he permitted scored on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning after Eric Sogard committed an error to start off the frame. Milone has now lost four straight starts despite posting a 2.63 ERA over that stretch. He'll try to get back in the win column this weekend in Seattle.
May 7 - 9:46 PM

Tommy Milone moved to 3-0 with another quality start at O.co Coliseum Monday, limiting the Astros to two runs over 6 2/3 innings in the 11-2 victory.

He gave up eight hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out six. Milone got into a bit of trouble in the seventh, allowing three hits and a run before exiting with two guys on, but Sean Doolittle came on to bail him out with a strikeout. The crafty left-hander has pitched very well in two of three starts this season, and, not surprisingly, they both came at home. He’ll pitch on the road this weekend but has a good matchup against the Rays.
Apr 16 - 1:41 AM

Tommy Milone limited the Mariners to a couple of solo homers in seven innings during Oakland's 6-2 win on Wednesday.

Franklin Gutierrez started the game with a homer, and Mike Morse followed with a second just three batters later. Milone, though, went pretty much untouched the rest of the way. The other two hits he gave up were singles, and he walked just one batter, as per usual. Because of his tiny walk rate and rather strong K rate, Milone looks like a really nice bet in fantasy leagues this year.
Apr 4 - 1:12 AM

Tommy Milone allowed three runs on six hits over 3 2/3 frames against the Royals Tuesday.

He struck out a pair, didn't walk anyone and served up a homer to Alex Gordon. Milone should continue to be a useful fantasy starter when at O.co Coliseum this season.
Mar 12 - 6:46 PM

Tommy Milone tossed three scoreless innings Thursday in the A's 7-3 defeat of the Mariners.

Another smooth Cactus league outing for the young left-hander. He yielded three hits and issued one walk, but Milone also tallied three strikeouts. The 26-year-old was a revelation last season for Oakland and should again hold value in mixed fantasy leagues in 2013.
Mar 7 - 5:43 PM

Tommy Milone threw two scoreless innings in the A's 6-3 win over the Rockies Saturday.

Milone walked just one batter and struck out one in his two innings. The 26-year-old southpaw is coming off a 2012 in which he surprised many by winning 13 games and registering a 3.74 ERA. Of course, some guy named Mike Trout was named AL Rookie of the Year, but Milone's first go-round was nothing to sniff at. Now entrenched in the A's rotation, Milone will try to build off his strong rookie year in 2013.
Mar 2 - 6:34 PM

Tommy Milone was excellent in his first postseason start Sunday, tossing six innings of one-run ball in a loss to the Tigers.

Milone permitted just five hits and a walk while striking out six batters, with the lone run coming home on a dribbler from Delmon Young. The bad news is that he threw 100 pitches, which led to his removal and the A's normally reliable bullpen giving up four runs over the final three frames. Milone will only get another start this postseason if the A's can climb out of an 0-2 hole.

Tommy Milone will square off against Doug Fister and the Tigers in Game 2 of the ALDS on Sunday.

Starting Milone in game two in Detroit is an extremely curious call, as he's posted a 4.83 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 16 starts on the road this season, and dominated with a 2.74 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 15 outings at home. A's skipper Bob Melvin has pulled all of the right strings this season though, so it's difficult to question him on this decision.

Tommy Milone was removed after allowing two runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Mariners on Sunday.

Even though he's been reliable all year long, Milone got the quick hook in a no-decision today. His regular season is over at 13-10 with a 3.74 ERA and a 137/36 K/BB ratio in 190 innings. It's all the A's could have hoped for and more.

Tommy Milone pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs -- one earned -- to defeat the Orioles on Friday.

The loss keeps the Orioles tied with the Yankees for first place in the AL East. The A's are now two games in front of those two and still 4 1/2 ahead of the Angels. Milone, who was roughed up by the Halos on Monday, improved to 13-10. The bullpen protected a 3-2 lead with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
