An MRI on Tommy Milone's neck showed only inflammation.
The Twins are hopeful that Milone will return before the end of the month, but it's no guarantee. The left-hander has put up a 7.84 ERA over five starts with the Twins. Sep 15 - 7:53 PM

Tommy Milone (neck) might not pitch again this season.

Milone tried to throw a bullpen session Saturday but said "it was not good." He had been nursing a fatigued shoulder, but the lefty felt pain shoot up his neck while long-tossing Wednesday and again throughout his session Saturday. "I could feel it on pretty much every throw," Milone said. "It wasn’t bad but I could tell I was holding back. I was trying to not make my neck hurt. The last two pitches I tried to let it go like I would normally in a game. And it didn’t feel good. We shut it down." Anthony Swarzak will start on Monday versus the Tigers assuming he isn't needed in the bullpen Sunday.
Sep 14 - 9:26 AM

Tommy Milone (neck) is unlikely to start on Monday.

Milone had his start pushed back until Monday due to Friday's rain out, but his neck soreness continues to be an issue. Fantasy owners shouldn't count on him over the final two weeks of the season.
Sep 13 - 1:40 PM

Tommy Milone's next scheduled start has been pushed back to Monday versus the Tigers following Friday's rainout.

The postponement will allow the Twins to give Milone some extra rest since he's battled shoulder issues this month. The lefty holds a 7.84 ERA over five starts since joining the Twins.
Sep 12 - 4:29 PM

Tommy Milone (shoulder) will rejoin the Twins' rotation on Saturday in Chicago.

Milone missed a start due to mild shoulder fatigue, but it appears he's now over it. The left-hander has struggled with a 7.84 ERA over five starts since joining the Twins and should be avoided in fantasy leagues for now.
Sep 10 - 3:05 PM

Tommy Milone will have his next start skipped.

Milone said Thursday that he's dealing with mild shoulder fatigue, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire called it a "dead arm." Either way, he'll miss a turn. Logan Darnell is the frontrunner to take his place vs. the Angels on Sunday, but he's not a fantasy option.
Sep 4 - 5:33 PM

Tommy Milone said Thursday that he's dealing with mild shoulder fatigue.

Milone has struggled in his recent starts, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks over 3 2/3 innings during his most recent outing on Tuesday. It's possible that his next start will be skipped at the very least.
Sep 4 - 5:10 PM

Tommy Milone had another abbreviated start Tuesday, walking four and giving up three runs over 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Milone gave up five hits, including three extra-base hits, to go along with the four walks. He now owns a 7.83 ERA through five starts with the Twins. It's certainly not what the team thought they were getting when they acquired the left-hander from the A's at the trade deadline. Milone will take on the Angels on Sunday looking to get back on the right path.
Sep 3 - 12:35 AM

Tommy Milone allowed four runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision as the Twins went on to defeat the Royals 11-5 in 10 innings on Thursday.

Milone has not had good results for the Twins, now sporting a 7.94 ERA in four starts with his latest team. Against the Royals, he yielded nine hits and two walks without recording a strikeout. On the season overall, he has a 4.21 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and a 70/33 K/BB ratio. Milone will match up against the White Sox at home on Tuesday in his next start.
Aug 29 - 12:10 AM

Tommy Milone allowed five runs (three earned) in four and a third innings against the Tigers on Friday.

It's rare for a starting pitcher to be given double-digit run support and still not pick up the victory, but Milone pulled that off in the extreme against the Tigers, somehow managing a no-decision despite a whopping twenty runs plated by the Twins. He allowed ten hits and five runs (three earned) in his four-plus innings of work. It was his second awful start in a row, as he was shelled by the Royals last time out. Milone has been solid this season and despite the rough outings, he still holds a 4.08 ERA. He'll try to rebound when he faces the Royals in his next outing.
Aug 23 - 2:14 AM

Tommy Milone failed to make it out of the second inning, giving up seven runs (six earned) in 1 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Royals.

Milone was solid in his first start with the Twins on Monday, but Sunday's effort was a nightmare. The lefty allowed all seven runs in the second inning and had to be yanked with one out. Overall, he gave up four hits and walked two while striking out one. Including his time with the Athletics, Milone has a 3.99 ERA and a 67/31 K/BB ratio. His next start will come on Friday at home against the Tigers.
Aug 17 - 6:38 PM

Tommy Milone yielded two runs over six innings against the Astros in his Twins debut.

The runs came on homers from Jose Altuve and Chris Carter. Milone gave up six more hits and three walks, but none of them came back to haunt him. While there's no reason he can't be decent, he's just not as good of a bet for fantasy purposes as a Twin as he was while in the A's rotation.
Aug 12 - 12:11 AM

Twins recalled LHP Tommy Milone from Triple-A Rochester.

Milone will make his Twins' debut on Monday in Houston. The soft-tossing left-hander isn't in as good of a spot with Minnesota as he was in Oakland but could carve out some value in deeper mixed formats.
Aug 11 - 7:23 PM

The Twins will call up Tommy Milone from Triple-A to replace Kevin Correia in the rotation.

Milone, acquired from the A's for Sam Fuld at the deadline, allowed one run over seven innings in his debut for Rochester earlier this week. He's not nearly as good of a bet for fantasy purposes in Minnesota as he was in Oakland, but he should still have some AL-only value. He'll make his first start Monday against the Astros.
Aug 10 - 12:45 AM

Tommy Milone will make another start with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, but could join the Twins rotation on Sunday to take on the Athletics.

The 27-year-old southpaw did a nice job in his 16 starts for the A's this season, compiling a 3.55 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 61/26 K/BB ratio over 96 1/3 innings. He's certainly worth snagging in mixed leagues where he may have been dropped.
