Date:

Asher Wojciechowski was blasted for eight runs -- seven earned -- in 3 2/3 innings and took a loss to the Cubs on Wednesday.

The big blow was a three-run bomb by Kyle Schwarber in the fourth inning. The 28-year-old rookie right-hander did manage to punch out six batters in the brief outing but also walked three and surrendered eight hits. In his last start, also against the Cubs, Wojciechowski gave up seven runs in 3 2/3 and somehow managed to do even worse today. For the season he has a woeful 6.17 ERA despite a nice 59:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 54 innings. It remains to be seen if he will remain in the Reds' decimated starting rotation.
Aug 23 - 11:53 PM

Asher Wojciechowski will start for the Reds on Wednesday against the Cubs.

Wojciechowski was moved to the bullpen after getting lit up for seven earned runs over just 3 2/3 innings in a start August 14 against the same Cubs team. He's not a recommended fantasy streamer and should be stacked against where possible.
Aug 22 - 9:30 PM

Asher Wojciechowski was blasted for seven earned runs over 3 2/3 innings Monday as the Reds fell to the Cubs.

He struck out five and didn't walk a batter, but the Cubs pounded Wojciechowski for a whopping 10 hits as the 28-year-old right-hander fell to 3-2 on the season and watched his ERA balloon to 5.21. Up next for Wojciechowski is a road start against the Braves. He's not a recommended fantasy streamer.
Aug 14 - 11:59 PM

Asher Wojciechowski allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings and was credited with an 8-3 win over the Padres on Wednesday.

He struck out six batters without issuing a walk and surrendered seven base hits, including home runs by Manuel Margot and Wil Meyers. The Reds treated him to a comfortable lead and he ended up falling one out short of a quality start in the contest. The 28-year-old rookie is now 3-1 with a 4.23 ERA in 14 games, including six starts.
Aug 10 - 12:10 AM

Asher Wojciechowski earned his second victory of the season on Friday, limiting the Cardinals to one run on three hits over five innings of work.

The right-hander punched out five while walking only one on the night. The only blemish on his evening was an RBI single off the bat of opposing starter Mike Leake in the third inning. Given how well he looked in this outing, there's a chance he could make another start for the Reds rather than heading back to the bullpen.
Aug 4 - 9:39 PM

Asher Wojciechowski will make a spot start for the Reds on Friday against the Cardinals.

He'll be filling in for Tim Adleman, who is apparently dealing with an injury. Wojciechowski has been working as a reliever for the past couple of weeks and probably won't be able to go more than 60-70 pitches, so he is not a recommended fantasy streamer.
Aug 2 - 3:31 PM

Reds purchased the contract of RHP Asher Wojciechowski from Triple-A Louisville.

Wojciechowski accepted an outright assignment from the Reds last month rather than elect free agency and now he's glad he did. He'll work in long relief.
Jul 2 - 10:23 AM

Reds sent RHP Asher Wojciechowski outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Wojciechowski cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and has decided to stick around in the organization rather than elect free agency. He'll provide rotation depth.
Jun 20 - 2:17 PM

Reds designated RHP Asher Wojciechowski for assignment.

He held a 6.75 ERA over six appearances -- four starts -- for the Reds. The club hasn't announced yet who will take Wojciechowski's rotation spot.
Jun 18 - 10:44 AM

Asher Wojciechowski allowed six runs -- five earned -- over 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.

Five of his seven outs recorded came by way of strikeouts; the problems came when Dodgers hitters made contact. He gave up back-to-back homers to Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson in the third inning, and all five Dodgers hits against went for extra bases. He dropped to 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in six appearances, including four starts. With Brandon Finnegan inching closer to a return, Wojciechowski's days in the rotation may be numbered.
Jun 17 - 10:00 PM

Asher Wojciechowski allowed four earned runs, six hits and no walks with one strikeout over five innings in a no-decision Saturday at L.A. Dodgers.

Wojciechowski threw 60 of his 81 pitches for strikes. He has managed two no-decisions with an 8.00 ERA in two road starts. The good news is he hasn't walked any batters in the two road assignments, but the bad news is he has served up four home runs.
Jun 11 - 4:20 AM

Asher Wojciechowski held the Cardinals to two runs in six innings Monday in a no-decision.

The Cardinals went scoreless for four innings before threatening to put together a big fifth inning against Wojciechowski. Their hopes were dashed when Paul Dejong was thrown out trying to score for the second out and Matt Carpenter flied out to end the frame. The two runs the Cardinals totaled in that frame were all they managed for the night. Wojciechowski remains a poor bet in NL-only leagues.
Jun 5 - 11:58 PM

Asher Wojciechowski gave up four runs and three homers in four innings Tuesday in his start against the Jays.

Wojciechowski was making his fourth big-league start, the other three coming with the Astros in 2015. He'd have a better chance of holding his own in middle relief than he does as a starter, but the Reds are pretty desperate for innings at the moment.
May 30 - 10:39 PM

Asher Wojciechowski will start on Tuesday in Toronto.

He's taking Amir Garrett's (hip) spot in the Reds' rotation. Wojciechowski earned the chance by posting a 1.40 ERA over five starts at Triple-A Louisville and then allowing one earned run over four relief innings with Cincinnati. The 28-year-old will be making his first start in the majors since April of 2015.
