Aug 5 - 2:14 PM

Astros pitching prospect Asher Wojciechowski scattered five hits and one run over seven innings Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Fresno.

Wojciechowski began the year in Houston's starting rotation but was sent back to Triple-A after four lackluster outings. The 26-year-old has gone 5-0 at Fresno, though his ERA still sits at an underwhelming 4.04. At least he's been working deep into games. The right-hander has gone at least five innings in each of his eight starts for Fresno.

Astros optioned RHP Asher Wojciechowski to Triple-A Fresno.

The move clears a spot for Luke Gregerson's return. Wojciechowski didn't make an appearance during his most recent stint with the big club.

Astros recalled RHP Asher Wojciechowski from Triple-A Fresno.

He'll be up while Luke Gregerson is on the family medical emergency list. Wojciechowski holds a 7.31 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 16 innings this season.
May 8 - 5:59 PM

Astros optioned RHP Asher Wojciechowski to Triple-A Fresno.

It's the second time he's been sent down in the last two weeks. Wojciechowski holds a 7.31 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 16 innings this season. The Astros will have to bring someone else up later this week when they need a fifth starter.
Apr 27 - 4:54 PM

Adam Wojciechowski allowed five runs in four innings during Sunday's win over the A's.

Wojciechowski did not factor into the decision. He surrendered two runs in the second inning and three more in the fourth while striking out four and walking two. This was the right-hander's second start since being recalled from Triple-A to replace an injured Brad Peacock (hip). In those two starts, he's allowed nine runs in eight innings. He'll get the Mariners at home in his next outing.
Apr 26 - 7:38 PM

Asher Wojciechowski got a no-decision in Monday's win against the Mariners, yielding four runs in four innings.

The right-hander allowed a bunch of base runners, as the Mariners racked up eight hits and drew two walks. Wojciechowski struck out six on the evening. Getting through the Mariners' tough lineup without allowing any home runs is an achievement at least. He'll get the Athletics on Oakland in his next start.
Apr 21 - 1:41 AM

Astros recalled RHP Asher Wojciechowski from Triple-A Fresno.

Wojciechowski had just been sent down Tuesday, but he returns to replace the injured Brad Peacock (intercostal). He figures to serve as the team's fifth starter.
Apr 17 - 3:51 PM

Astros optioned RHP Asher Wojciechowski to Triple-A Fresno.

Wojciechowski had been scheduled to start Tuesday, but he was needed out of the bullpen Monday. Brad Peacock (hip) will now be activated from the disabled list to take the ball Tuesday instead. Wojciechowski tossed four scoreless relief innings Monday after allowing four runs over four frames in a start last week.
Apr 13 - 11:19 PM

Making his major league debut, Asher Wojciechowski was tagged for four runs over four-plus innings in a loss to the Indians on Thursday.

Wojciechowski allowed eight hits (including two home runs) and two walks, so his pitch count added up quickly. He was pulled after allowing three straight baserunners to begin the fifth. The 26-year-old earned a spot in Houston's rotation after an excellent spring, but we're not expecting much in fantasy leagues.
Apr 9 - 6:08 PM

Asher Wojciechowski picked up his first win of the spring Wednesday by limiting the Phillies to one run in 4 2/3 innings.

He struck out four and walked none. Wojciechowski has allowed two runs in 16 2/3 innings this spring, making him far and away the top performer of the candidates for the fifth spot in Houston's rotation. It still wouldn't be surprising to see the Astros choose Roberto Hernandez anyway.
Mar 25 - 4:28 PM

Asher Wojciechowski allowed one run in three innings of relief Friday versus the Nationals.

Kila Ka'aihue's homer was the first run Wojciechowski has given up in 12 innings this spring. He's pitched the best of the Astros' fifth starter candidates, if that's what it comes down to.
Mar 20 - 4:31 PM

Asher Wojciechowski shut out the Nationals for four innings in Houston's 3-2 victory Sunday.

No truth the rumor that we're rooting against Wojciechowski in the Astros' rotation battle just because we don't want to have to write out Wojciechowski regularly. Well, maybe a little truth. The right-hander has pitched nine scoreless innings so far, which could give him a leg up on Dan Straily and Roberto Hernandez in the competition.
Mar 15 - 4:28 PM

Asher Wojciechowski is planning to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic.

The 25-year-old right-hander lost a ton of time this season to lat and forearm issues, so he wants the extra work. Wojciechowski, the 41st overall pick in the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft, owns a 3.75 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 7.1 K/9 in 515 1/3 career minor league innings. He'll hope to compete for a rotation spot next spring in Astros camp.
