Asher Wojciechowski is planning to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic.
The 25-year-old right-hander lost a ton of time this season to lat and forearm issues, so he wants the extra work. Asher Wojciechowski (lat, forearm) will resume his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Jun 18 - 3:07 PM

Asher Wojciechowski (lat) has been shut down from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City due to a right forearm flexor strain.

The Astros don't think it's serious, but Wojciechowski won't appear in game action for a couple weeks. He's missed all season with a strained lat. "It’s nothing too severe in his forearm," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "Because he’s coming off of the other injury and wasn’t feeling 100 percent right we had a doctor look at him. We don’t think that there’s any real issue, but he’s not going to throw in a game for the next two weeks. He’s going to go to Florida and rehab and throw right there."
Jun 4 - 10:04 AM

Asher Wojciechowski (lat) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Wojciechowski has been out since the beginning of spring training with a strained right lat. He'll need a handful of rehab starts and even at that point isn't a given to be added to the big league roster.

Mar 30 - 9:42 AM

Asher Wojciechowski (lat) is expected to begin the season on the disabled list.

Wojciechowski has been nursing a strained right lat since the beginning of camp and had a setback Sunday when he attempted to throw softly into a net for the third straight day. "I think the first time we tried to get him going we realized he wasn’t quite ready," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "We want to be a little more conservative this time around so we’re being very cautious." Luhnow added that he doesn't expect Wojciechowski to miss more than "the first couple of weeks of the season." The righty will surely be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City once he's healthy.
Mar 14 - 12:21 PM

Asher Wojciechowski flew to Houston to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right lat muscle.

"It’s supposed to help with the recovery time," Wojciechowski said Wednesday. The 25-year-old right-hander hasn't been showing improvement in the muscle in recent days, so the injection may be the trick. He will return to Florida late Thursday, but it's unclear how long he'll remained sidelined.

Asher Wojciechowski's second MRI on Monday did not show improvement in his right lat muscle.

It's not clear what the next step will be, but he'll presumably be shut down for a while. Wojciechowski could get a late start to the season at this point.
