Enny Romero (forearm) tossed a perfect inning Thursday in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Syracuse.
He retired the side in the sixth inning, recording one strikeout over 14 pitches. The 26-year-old looks ready to rejoin the Nats' bullpen after missing the past couple of weeks with a strained forearm. He holds a 3.99 ERA across 47 1/3 innings for Washington this season. Aug 17 - 10:16 PM

Enny Romero (forearm) played catch Tuesday.

The fact that he's resumed a throwing program less than a week after his forearm injury would seem to be a good sign. Romero has posted a 3.99 ERA with 57 strikeouts over 47 1/3 relief innings this season.
Aug 8 - 3:16 PM

Nationals placed LHP Enny Romero on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 3, with a left forearm strain.

Romero was pulled from an appearance Wednesday with the injury. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. Sammy Solis has assumed Romero's spot in the Nats' bullpen.
Aug 4 - 10:52 AM

Enny Romero was lifted from Wednesday's loss to the Marlins with a left forearm spasm.

Romero had been battling back spasms, but it was not the back, but rather the forearm, which sidelined him in Wednesday's contest. After the game, Nationals manager Dusty Baker said that Romero will likely be heading to the disabled list. He will be reevaluated on Thursday.
Aug 2 - 10:32 PM

Enny Romero was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Marlins with an apparent injury.

Romero has been forced out of two of his last four appearances due to injury. He has been battling back spasms of late. While this could be a continuation of those issues, the Nationals will pass along further word as to the exact nature of this current ailment after the completion of Wednesday's game.
Aug 2 - 9:18 PM

Enny Romero (back) is available Tuesday.

Romero left Sunday's game with back spasms, but he's feeling better after a visit to the chiropractor. The southpaw should be fine moving forward.
Jul 25 - 3:41 PM

Enny Romero hasn't yielded a run since May 19.

Romero got off to a rough start this season, but he's been excellent in June and has become a valuable setup man in the Nationals' mostly-unreliable bullpen. The hard-throwing left-hander may even work his way into the mix for saves if he keeps it up, though the Nationals figure to add a closer from outside the organization ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.
Jun 16 - 12:51 PM

Enny Romero was unable to close out a two-run lead Tuesday in Baltimore, blowing a save in an extra-innings loss to the Orioles.

Romero and Matt Albers have been Nationals manager Dusty Baker's choices to close of late with Shawn Kelley (back) and Koda Glover (hip) out and Blake Treinen struggling. The lefty was pumping triple-digit heat with ease Tuesday, but he allowed a leadoff walk, a two-out double to Trey Mancini and then a game-tying single to J.J. Hardy to blow the save. It's possible Romero might get another opportunity in the new few days, but Kelley and Glover are due back soon.
May 9 - 11:44 PM

Enny Romero notched his second career save with a scoreless ninth Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

With Shawn Kelley getting the day off, the Nationals intended to have Joe Blanton close today. Blanton, though, gave up a homer to the first and only batter he faced. Romero came in and retired three out of four to finish the 4-2 game. He has a 5.25 ERA in 12 innings.
May 4 - 5:08 PM

Nationals acquired LHP Enny Romero from the Rays for RHP Jeffrey Rosa.

The minor trade clears a spot on Tampa Bay's roster for first baseman Logan Morrison, who was officially re-signed to a one-year, $2.5 million free agent contract on Tuesday. Romero posted a rough 5.91 ERA in 45 2/3 innings last season out of the Rays' bullpen, but he throws hard and could have some upside left at age 26 if he can rein in his control issues.
Feb 7 - 5:45 PM

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays have traded left-hander Enny Romero to the Nationals for a low-level starting pitching prospect.

Romero was out of minor league options and in danger of being designated for assignment by Tampa Bay this spring after registering a disappointing 5.91 ERA over 45 2/3 innings last season. The 26-year-old southpaw will now compete for a spot in the Washington bullpen. He has a big arm, averaging 96 mph with his fastball in 2016, but control has always been an issue.
Feb 7 - 5:11 PM

Enny Romero struck out David Ortiz for his first career save Thursday against the Red Sox.

The Rays didn't want to use Alex Colome or Brad Boxberger today, so Tyler Sturdevant started the ninth in a 2-1 game. He was able to retire both Hanley Ramirez and Jackie Bradley Jr., and Romero took over after Ortiz was called on as a pinch-hitter. Had the inning continued, Danny Farquhar likely would have taken over. Still, it's Boxberger who is the primary fallback to Colome.

Rays activated LHP Enny Romero from the 15-day disabled list.

Romero has struggled out of the Rays bullpen this season, registering a 5.23 ERA and 32/20 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings this season. He has been on the shelf since August 4 due to a back strain.

Enny Romero (back) will make a rehab appearance Thursday with High-A Charlotte.

Romero had a successful simulated workout on Monday and got the go-ahead Tuesday to begin a minor league rehab assignment. He owns an underwhelming 5.23 ERA and 32/20 K/BB ratio in 32 2/3 innings of relief this season at the major league level.
