Rays pitching prospect Enny Romero has been scratched from Monday's start at Triple-A Durham.

Romero is in a holding pattern, as he could start on Tuesday if Jake Odorizzi (illness) can't go. As of now, the Rays think Odorizzi will be able to tough it out. Romero holds a 3.72 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 9 2/3 frames in his first two Triple-A starts this season.

Rays left-handed pitching prospect Enny Romero struck out eight batters in 5 2/3 innings for Triple-A Durham on Wednesday night.

With Matt Moore out with a torn UCL, Romero is the logical replacement in the rotation. With 12 strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings in 2014, Romero has been impressive. His Achilles' heel has been a high walk rate (4.6 per 9 innings for his career), but he could provide decent fantasy value given his career 8.5 K/9.

Rays optioned LHP Enny Romero to Triple-A Durham.

The 22-year-old southpaw spent the majority of the 2013 season in the minor leagues, posting a 3.93 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 112/75 K/BB ratio over 148 1/3 innings. He'll remain stretched out as a starter at the Triple-A level, and should see time with the Rays at some point during the 2014 season.

Enny Romero could be used in relief this week.

The 22-year-old left-hander started and threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings against the Orioles in his major league debut on Sunday at Tropicana Field, yielding just one hit. Tampa Bay is stocked with young pitching talent, but Romero may be in the running for a rotation spot next spring. He posted a 2.61 ERA in 28 starts this year between Double-A and Triple-A.

Enny Romero tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings against the Orioles in his MLB debut on Sunday.

Romero walked four, but he used his nasty raw stuff to induce nine groundball outs and the 22-year-old left-hander yielded just one hit. Romero has a bright future in the Rays' starting rotation and could be given a legitimate shot to claim a permanent spot next spring.

Rays recalled LHP Enny Romero from Triple-A Durham.

Romero, 22, will start in the Rays' series finale Sunday against the Orioles. The left-hander is one of the Rays' best pitching prospects, owning a 2.61 ERA over 28 starts between Double-A and Triple-A this season, but he's not a recommended fantasy streamer.

Rays pitching prospect Enny Romero has been promoted to Triple-A Durham.

He's earned it with a 2.76 ERA with 110 strikeouts over 140 1/3 Double-A innings. The 22-year-old will make his Triple-A debut on Monday and should be part of the Bulls' rotation during the International League playoffs.

Rays purchased the contract of LHP Enny Romero from High-A Charlotte.

Romero has consistently battled control issue, but the 21-year-old has an arm that the Rays weren't going to left unprotected for the Rule 5 Draft. He put up a 3.93 ERA and 107/76 K/BB ratio over 126 High-A innings.
