Mariners recalled INF Luis Sardinas from Triple-A Tacoma.

Chris Taylor has been optioned to Triple-A as the corresponding roster move. Earlier this season, the 23-year-old Sardinas saw 26 at-bats with the M's and managed just four hits in that space. While he could see his share of playing time until Ketel Marte (thumb) is ready to return, Sardinas has yet to find the sort of major league success that would make him a palatable fantasy option.

Mariners optioned INF Luis Sardinas to Triple-A Tacoma.

Sardinas has just four hits in 26 at-bats with the big club this season. He'll get a chance to play more regularly at Tacoma.

Luis Sardinas is nursing a tight calf muscle.

Sardinas will not play on Friday as scheduled, but he could be back in there on Saturday. He's competing for a utility job this spring.
Mar 11 - 10:34 AM

Luis Sardinas went 2-for-3 with a pair of two-run doubles as the Mariners topped the Padres 6-5 in Cactus League play on Thursday.

The Padres led 1-0 through five innings, but Sardinas helped fuel the comeback effort. Interestingly enough, Sardinas tallied just four RBI in 105 plate appearances all of last season. The 22-year-old was acquired from the Brewers back in November and will compete with Chris Taylor for a backup infielder job this spring.
Mar 3 - 8:02 PM

Mariners acquired 2B Luis Sardinas from the Brewers for OF Ramon Flores.

Sardinas, 22, has the bat of a utility infielder. In 97 at-bats with the Brewers in 2015, he hit a paltry .196/.240/.216. He initially came to the Brew Crew as part of the Yovani Gallardo trade to the Rangers in January. The Brewers have been shedding pieces throughout the week. Veteran first baseman Adam Lind's still with the team, but his name's surfaced in rumors as well.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that according to a source, the Brewers have traded Luis Sardinas to the Mariners.

No word as of yet as to who the Brewers would be receiving in return for Sardinas. The 22-year-old second baseman appeared in 36 games (97 at-bats) with the big league club in 2015. He struggled to hit in that space, slashing just .196/.240/.216 with a triple and four RBI. The Brewers originally acquired Sardinas as part of their trade of Yovani Gallardo to the Rangers in January.

Brewers recalled INF Luis Sardinas from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

In 20 previous games with the Brewers, Sardinas hit just .221/.243/.250 with a triple and an RBI. He could swipe a bag or two now that he's back with the major league team, but it's unlikely that he'll see much playing time.

Brewers optioned INF Luis Sardinas to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The move clears a spot for Tuesday's starting pitcher, Taylor Jungmann, on the active roster. Sardinas was hitting just .221/.243/.250 over 20 games with the Brewers, but he figures to get another shot soon. Hernan Perez and Hector Gomez figure to share playing time at second base for now.

Brewers recalled INF Luis Sardinas from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Sardinas was acquired from the Rangers this winter in the Yovani Gallardo trade. He was ranked a top-100 prospect by Baseball America as recently as 2014, but the 21-year-old owns an underwhelming .289/.315/.378 slash line in 414 career plate appearances at the Triple-A level. Sardinas probably won't carry much fantasy value, even if he plays regularly at shortstop while Jean Segura (finger) is out.

Brewers prospect Luis Sardinas extended his hitting streak to six games Tuesday in a loss to Triple-A Round Rock.

Only one of his nine hits has gone for extra bases, but Sardinas has never been much of a power hitter. He hit a respectable .261 in his first cup of coffee in the major leagues last season and should get another shot in the bigs later this year. The 21-year-old has experience at three of the four infield positions and has speed to burn on the base paths.

Brewers optioned INF Luis Sardinas to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Sardinas was acquired from the Rangers over the winter as part of the package for starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo. The 21-year-old infielder hasn't hit much in the minors, but he does have good speed and he's one of the only decent prospects in the Brewers' farm system. Sardinas should see some MLB action this season.

Luis Sardinas went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's Cactus League win over the Rangers.

Facing his former organization, Sardinas showed why the Brewers were willing to part with Yovani Gallardo to acquire him this winter. The 21-year-old likely won't break camp with the club, but he's one of their best prospects and he could see the majors at some point this season.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Padres have discussed trading for Brewers shortstop Luis Sardinas.

The Brewers picked up Sardinas as he key piece of the Yovani Gallardo trade from the Rangers in mid-January. Rosenthal notes that there have been no recent discussions between the two clubs though. The Brewers organization appears to be very high on the young infielder, so flipping him elsewhere seems very unlikely.

Brewers acquired INF Luis Sardinas and RHPs Corey Knebel and Marcos Diplan from the Rangers for RHP Yovani Gallardo and cash considerations.

Sardinas was recently ranked as the Rangers' No. 7 prospect by Baseball America. The 21-year-old hit just .261/.303/.313 across 125 plate appearances as a rookie last season, but he makes contact and can play solid defense. He might not make it as a regular, but he can be a solid backup middle infielder at the very least.
