Red Sox manager Alex Cora said after Friday's game that he expects Xander Bogaerts (finger) to return to the lineup on Sunday.

It sounds as though the club will give him Saturday off as a precautionary measure after suffering a sprained right index finger while sliding into second base during Friday's game against the Mariners. For the moment, it sounds as though he was able to avoid significant injury and shouldn't require a trip to the disabled list.
Jun 23 - 2:26 AM

Xander Bogaerts was removed from Friday's game against the Mariners with a sprained left index finger.

He sustained the injury while sliding head first into second base. The severity of the injury remains unclear at the moment, but the Red Sox should provide an update on his status after the conclusion of Friday's game.
Jun 22 - 10:45 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Bogaerts three-run shot off of James Paxton gave the Red Sox a 6-3 lead in the third, and it caused the Mariner ace to exit early. Unfortunately for Bogaerts and his teammates, they weren't able to hold the lead. Bogaerts has homered in back-to-back games, and he has upped his season line to .280/.342/.514 in the process.
Jun 16 - 1:33 AM

Xander Bogaerts hit a solo homer off Felix Hernandez to help the Red Sox to a 2-1 victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

With the scored tied at 1-1, Bogaerts deposited a Hernandez pitch into centerfield to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead and ultimately the victory. It's the 10th homer of the season for the shortstop, and it helps raise Bogaert's OPS on the season to .846 with 36 RBI in 53 games.
Jun 15 - 1:12 AM

Xander Bogaerts ripped a solo home run Tuesday versus the Tigers.

It was a rare opposite-field shot for Bogaerts off of reliever Warwick Saupold in the fifth inning, giving the shortstop nine dingers on the season. Bogaerts is hitting just .257 since returning from the disabled list, although he has hit seven homers over 35 games.
Jun 5 - 10:21 PM

Xander Bogaerts drove in both Red Sox runs Thursday in a loss to the Astros.

Bogaerts tied the game in the third inning by slugging a two-run double off Lance McCullers. That hit extended Xander’s hitting streak to four games. Bogaerts has come back to Earth after a hot start but is on pace for 23 homers, which would top his career-high of 21 set in 2016.
May 31 - 11:40 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 and hit his eighth homer Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Bogaerts' average and OPS have been steadily dropping in recent weeks, but he still has five homers, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored in his last 17 games. He should remain pretty valuable in mixed leagues all year long.
May 29 - 10:29 PM

Xander Bogaerts slugged a solo home run against the Braves on Friday.

He hit a game-tying homer against Julio Teheran in the fourth inning after J.D. Martinez also homered earlier in the frame. Bogaerts has certainly cooled down from what he did in April, but he’s already reached seven homers after hitting just 10 home runs all of last season.
May 26 - 12:20 AM

Xander Bogaerts is not in the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

Hanley Ramirez is also getting a breather. Brock Holt and Mitch Moreland are in the lineup.
May 20 - 10:40 AM

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in a win over the Orioles on Thursday.

Orioles starter Kevin Gausman brought a high fastball at 95 miles per hour, and Bogaerts sent it out even faster, flying high over the green monster in left. The homer was his sixth of the season and his second in as many games. The 25-year-old is hitting .313/.344/.574 in 28 games.
May 18 - 12:40 AM

Xander Bogaerts clubbed a three-run dinger to spearhead a 6-4 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday.

His blast off reliever Ryan Dull in the sixth inning provided the winning margin. It was his only hit of the night. The young shortstop has bounced back big-time from a down 2017 season and is now slashing .306/.339/.550 with five homers and 21 RBI despite missing three weeks of action with a fractured ankle last month.
May 16 - 11:49 PM

Xander Bogaerts connected for a solo homer in Friday’s extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays.

Bogaerts went 1-for-4 on the evening. He’s been a little quiet so far this month — the homer was his first since April 30 — but he still owns a healthy .326/.357/.576 batting line through 22 games this season.
May 11 - 11:33 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

He laced two singles and a double in the ballgame. The young shortstop hasn't stopped hitting since coming off the disabled list two weeks ago. He now owns a .333/.360/.571 slash line with three homers, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored in 20 games of action. He missed three weeks due to a fractured ankle last month.
May 9 - 11:57 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 and hit his second grand slam of the year as the Red Sox topped the Royals 10-6 on Monday.

Bogaerts has three homers, eight doubles and 15 RBI in his 12 games this year. He could be the new Didi Gregorius!
