Xander Bogaerts went 0-for-3 and made a costly error at shortstop Saturday against the Rays.
The error on a routine play kickstarted a five-run inning for the Rays. Bogaerts homered in two of his first three games of the spring, but he's 5-for-27 with no homers since. On the plus side, he still has a nice 5/6 K/BB ratio for the spring. There won't be as much pressure on him in Boston this year, as he's facing no competition at shortstop and he's being asked to hit towards the bottom of a productive lineup. He's still being counted on to step up his play, though. Mar 28 - 4:40 PM

Xander Bogaerts had a three-run homer and an RBI single to lead the Red Sox to a 6-3 win over the Mets on Sunday.

Bogaerts has two homers already this spring, making one wonder if he's ready to jump from 12 last season to 20 or so as a 22-year-old. His lack of any stolen base ability will hold him back somewhat as a fantasy shortstop, and he also figures to hit pretty low in the order. Still, he should have some mixed-league value this year.

Xander Bogaerts said recently that he feels "the strongest I've felt going into a season."

"And by far," the shortstop added. Instead of going to his native Aruba this offseason per his usual routine, Bogaerts trained with other big leaguers at EXOS Performance Institute in Arizona. "It’s a long season, and halfway or toward the end I just felt like my body was giving up," Bogaerts said. "I definitely feel a lot more strong. Getting knowledge from those (trainers at EXOS) and just trusting the whole system they have there, just pushing your body, it’s really a difference than any years in the past." Bogaerts has post-hype sleeper written all over him headed into 2015.

Xander Bogaerts is still considered Boston's shortstop, according to two team sources who spoke with The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham.

In other words, as expected, Hanley Ramirez is ticketed for a position change. Most have speculated, in light of Pablo Sandoval's concurrent signing, that Ramirez will be Boston's left fielder next season. At this time, that scenario seems most likely. The only thing that will keep Ramirez at shortstop in 2015, it would appear, is a trade of Bogaerts. If the Red Sox are serious about trading for an ace, Bogaerts would be a logical target of their transaction partner.

Xander Bogaerts is not in Sunday's lineup due to a hamstring injury.

Bogaerts tweaked his hamstring on Saturday. The young shortstop's season concludes with a disappointing .240/.297/.362 batting line, though he did slug 12 homers and closed with a .313/.317/.490 line in September.

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a two-run single and a sacrifice fly as the Red Sox routed the Rays on Wednesday.

Bogaerts lifted a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 2-2 in the second inning, then knocked in the first two runs in a five-run fourth with a single. Despite a mini-slump lately, Bogaerts has had a nice September, batting .317 (26-for-82) in 21 games. On the season, he's batting .239/.298/.363 with 12 home runs and 46 RBI.

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to lead the Red Sox to an 8-4 win over the Royals on Sunday.

Bogaerts hit a three-run homer in the third inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the seventh. He's hit in eight straight games, including blasting three home runs, and the 21-year-old is batting .368 in September. It's a promising finish for Bogaerts after he struggled for much of the season.

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in a loss to the Orioles on Tuesday.

Bogaerts hit the solo shot, his 10th of the season, off Orioles starter Chris Tillman in the fourth inning. It was the Red Sox' lone run of the game. He almost scored the team's second run as well, but he was thrown out at the plate in the ninth inning. A deep slump has Bogaerts' overall line down, but he's hitting .371 (13-for-35) with two home runs and six RBI in September as he looks to end the season on a high note.

Xander Bogaerts logged four hits in five at-bats, including his ninth home run of the season, in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

Bogaerts hit a solo shot off of Shane Greene in the third inning shortly after Daniel Nava went yard. The shortstop suffered a homerless August and generally has not had a great offensive showing. He has a .231/.298/.350 slash line with 32 RBI on the season.

Xander Bogaerts ended a forgettable month with a two-hit day against the Rays on Sunday.
