Red Sox reassigned INFs Xander Bogaerts, Jonathan Diaz and Drew Sutton to minor league camp.

No surprises in this bunch. Bogaerts, 20, batted .307/.373/.523 with 20 homers and an .896 OPS last season between High-A and Double-A. Baseball America recently ranked him as the game's No. 8 prospect.

Upon his return from the World Baseball Classic, Xander Bogaerts will spend some more time in major league camp before his eventual assignment to the minors.

Bogaerts, who is widely considered to be the Red Sox' top prospect, will see time at both shortstop and third base in the Grapefruit League. But the 20-year-old is unlikely to get much action this year in the majors.

Xander Bogaerts had an RBI single off the bench Saturday in his final spring training appearance before the WBC.

Bogaerts is now off to Taiwan to play for the Dutch in the WBC. Boston's No. 1 prospect is expected to start at third base for The Netherlands, but he's still slated to play shortstop in the minors this year.

Red Sox prospect shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been promoted to Double-A Portland.

Bogaerts will leave the Carolina League behind after batting .302/.378/.505 with 15 home runs, 64 RBI and an .883 OPS over 104 games with High-A Salem this season. At just 19 years old, he'll be the second-youngest player in the Eastern League behind Orioles right-hander Dylan Bundy, who was also promoted to Double-A on Thursday.
