Xander Bogaerts is in the Red Sox's starting lineup Monday against the Rays.

Manager John Farrell hinted that Bogaerts would get the night off after making his third error in four games Sunday against Texas. Bogaerts will bat in his usual third spot against Rays left-hander Blake Snell.
Jun 27 - 3:25 PM

Red Sox manager John Farrell says Xander Bogaerts is tired and "needs a day."

Bogaerts' bat hasn't slowed down yet—his batting average is second in the American League behind Jose Altuve—but his defense has deteriorated over the past week with three errors in his last four games. Xander hasn't sat since April 23 and is due for a breather. Sitting Wednesday against the Rays is the most likely scenario with the Red Sox off on Thursday. That would give Xander a couple days to catch his breath.
