Xander Bogaerts belted a solo homer and drew a walk in Monday's loss to the Astros.
After the Astros opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, Bogaerts knotted things up with a blast in the bottom of the frame. He also walked and scored in the fifth. The home run was Bogaerts' lone hit in 17 at-bats during the series. Oct 9 - 5:20 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 10-7 on Wednesday.

Bogaerts has done a great job of getting on base since the Red Sox shifted him to the leadoff spot earlier this month. Tonight, he added some power, hitting just his second homer in a month and 10th of the season. As long as he keeps collecting singles and drawing some walks, he'll likely continue to lead off in the postseason.
Sep 27 - 10:43 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored against the Reds on Saturday.

He led off the game with a double and scored on a Brock Holt sacrifice fly. In the seventh he walked and scored on an Andrew Benintendi single. It's been an up-and-down season for the young shortstop, who will turn 25 years old next week. He has a .268 batting average with nine home runs, 57 RBI, 87 runs scored and 15 stolen bases for the year. His power and average have taken big steps backward compared to a year ago.
Sep 23 - 7:38 PM

Xander Bogaerts homered and walked three times against the Orioles on Monday.

The homer, his first since Aug. 25 and just his ninth of the season, came off Donnie Hart and tied the game in the seventh. The Red Sox badly need more offense from him right now, particularly if Mookie Betts' thumb is going to remain an issue.
Sep 18 - 11:42 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 4-for-7 with a walk and two RBI against the Rays on Friday.

All four hits were singles, but given that his average has been steadily declining for months, he'll take them. His only previous four-hit game this season came May 30 against the White Sox.
Sep 16 - 1:23 AM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored against the A's on Tuesday.

Bogaerts has gotten a reprieve because of Eduardo Nunez's injury, and we'll have to see if he capitalizes. He certainly had a nice game tonight, but so did most of the rest of the lineup in an 11-run outburst. He had been in a 4-for-28 slump since Aug. 31.
Sep 12 - 11:21 PM

Xander Bogaerts remains out of the Red Sox lineup for the third consecutive game on Sunday.

The Red Sox are giving the slumping shortstop an extended absence to rest and clear his head. Eduardo Nunez is once again starting at shortstop and batting leadoff for the Red Sox against Luis Severino and the Yankees.
Sep 3 - 5:10 PM

Xander Bogaerts remains out of the Red Sox lineup on Saturday.

It's the second straight game that the slumping shortstop has missed. Manager John Farrell said he expects Bogaerts to return to the lineup on Sunday. He's hitting just .201/.276/.299 since getting hit in the hand by a pitch on July 6.
Sep 2 - 11:28 AM

Xander Bogaerts is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Bogaerts has hit only .201/.276/.299 since being hit on right hand by a pitch back on July 6. It's clearly still bothering him, although he could be back in the lineup Saturday. Eduardo Nunez is at shortstop Friday.
Sep 1 - 4:45 PM

Xander Bogaerts swatted his eighth home run of the season on Friday as the Red Sox were demolished by the Orioles.

His two-run blast off of Jeremy Hellickson pulled the Red Sox to within three runs at 5-2 in the second inning, but that would be as close as they would get. It was Bogaerts' lone hit in four at-bats on the night. He's slashing .280/.340/.413 with eight homers, 49 RBI and 11 stolen bases this season.
Aug 25 - 10:53 PM

Xander Bogaerts singled twice and scored a run Tuesday in Cleveland.

Bogaerts is starting to right the ship after a brutal stretch, as he's reached base 15 times over his last eight games. Unfortunately, he's still not driving in many runs, with a mere four RBI since the All-Star break.
Aug 22 - 11:59 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored Tuesday versus the Cardinals.

Remarkably, it was Bogaerts' first RBI in his last 19 games and just his third so far in the second half. He had entered the night in a 1-for-17 skid at the dish. Bogaerts' cold streak has meant a move down to the No. 6 spot in the Red Sox' lineup, although he could earn a trip back up in the order with more nights like Tuesday.
Aug 15 - 10:20 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4, stole a base and scored a run versus the Rays on Tuesday.

He singled and scored an insurance run in the ninth inning. He hasn't done much to help his fantasy owners lately so this game was nice to see. He has a .285 batting average with six home runs, 57 runs scored, 43 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 102 games. That's not too bad but it isn't what his owners were expecting when they drafted him back in March.
Aug 8 - 11:30 PM

Xander Bogaerts is not in the Red Sox starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.

Bogaerts has been battling an illness over the past week or so, so an extra day of rest isn't a bad idea. Eduardo Nunez will start in his place at shortstop and bat sixth against Trevor Cahill and the Royals.
Jul 29 - 3:16 PM

Xander Bogaerts (illness) is back in the Red Sox lineup Tuesday night against the Mariners.

Bogaerts was a late scratch Monday after coming down with an illness, but he will start at shortstop and hit sixth Tuesday versus Seattle right-hander Felix Hernandez.
