Xander Bogaerts (ankle) won't get in a second minor league rehab game because Triple-A Pawtucket was rained out on Wednesday.
But it sounds like the Red Sox will go ahead and activate Bogaerts off the disabled list Friday anyway. The shortstop went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double in his rehab debut with Pawtucket on Tuesday. He has been sidelined since April 9 due to a small fracture in his left ankle. Apr 25 - 1:48 PM

Xander Bogaerts (ankle) went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double Tuesday in his first rehab game at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Good stuff from the 25-year-old shortstop, who could be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Bogaerts is scheduled for another rehab game at Pawtucket on Wednesday and will then take the day off Thursday. He's been sidelined since April 9 with a small fracture in his left ankle.
Apr 24 - 7:55 PM

Xander Bogaerts (ankle) will embark on a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

If Tuesday and Wednesday's games go well, Bogaerts could be activated after Thursday's off day. He's been sidelined since April 9 with a small fracture in his left ankle, but the recovery has gone smoothly to this point. Brock Holt and Tzu-Wei Lin have filled in at shortstop in his absence.
Apr 21 - 6:52 PM

Xander Bogaerts (ankle) went through agility drills on Thursday.

He's worked out all three days the Red Sox have been in Anaheim. Beat writer Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe expects him back either by the end of the team's current nine-game road trip or at the start of their next homestand, which begins on April 27. Brock Holt and Tzu-Wei Lin will continue to fill in at shortstop for Boston.
Apr 19 - 5:39 PM

Xander Bogaerts (ankle) is hitting on the field Tuesday at Angel Stadium.

That's a nice step in the right direction, though the real tests for Bogaerts will be running the bases and fielding groundballs at the shortstop position. He was placed on the disabled list April 9 with a small fracture in the talus bone of his left ankle. Brock Holt and Tzu-Wei Lin have been filling in at shortstop for Boston.
Apr 17 - 7:52 PM

Xander Bogaerts (ankle) is already out of his walking boot.

Bogaerts was placed on the disabled list Monday after suffering a small fracture in the talus bone of his left ankle when he fell down the dugout steps while chasing after a ball Sunday against the Rays. The hope is that he'll be ready to return in a little under two weeks. Brock Holt is starting at shortstop for the Red Sox on Tuesday night against the Yankees.
Apr 10 - 3:57 PM

Red Sox placed SS Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day disabled list with a small fracture in the talus bone of his left ankle.

The fracture is non-displaced and will not require surgery. Bogaerts is expected to be sidelined for 10-14 days, which isn't bad, all things considered. Still, it's a bummer for fantasy owners that have enjoyed a .368/.400/.711 start from the Red Sox shortstop. Tzu-Wei Lin will replace Bogaerts on the roster and could share time at shortstop with Brock Holt.
Apr 9 - 5:34 PM

Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports that Xander Bogaerts (foot) will be placed on the disabled list.

Drellich says that Bogaerts is wearing a walking boot on his injured left foot and that his ailment has to do with a bone in the foot rather than the ankle as was initially reported. The shortstop was injured on Sunday when he slid into the Rays' dugout while trying to chase down an errant throw. Brock Holt should be the Red Sox' main shortstop while Bogaerts is sidelined.
Apr 9 - 4:52 PM

According to Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston, Xander Bogaerts (ankle) was undergoing treatment Monday to determine if a trip to the disabled list is necessary.

It's at least encouraging that there's some debate about whether he'll need a stint on the disabled list, but there's nothing official yet. Bogaerts injured his left ankle Sunday when he slid while trying to track down an errant throw to third base. He's already undergone tests, so the Red Sox should provide an update soon.
Apr 9 - 2:28 PM

Xander Bogaerts was pulled from Sunday's game versus the Rays with a left ankle injury.

Bogaerts hurt himself when he slid into the Rays' dugout after chasing his own throw to third base. He had to be helped down the stairs of the Red Sox' dugout and into the clubhouse, which doesn't bode well. Bogaerts has been red-hot in the early going this season with a .368/.400/.711 batting line.
Apr 8 - 3:51 PM

Xander Bogaerts blasted a grand slam and drove in six runs on Saturday, pacing the Red Sox offense in a 10-3 thrashing of the Rays.

Bogaerts drilled a two-run double as part of a four-run uprising off of Jacob Faria in the first inning. He then put the game out of reach with a grand slam in the second inning that increased the Red Sox' early advantage to 8-2. He also drew a walk in the game for good measure, finishing the afternoon 2-for-3. He's off to a blistering start, slashing .371/.405/.743 with two homers and nine RBI. He already has barreled up as many balls this season as he did during the entire 2017 campaign.
Apr 7 - 4:12 PM

Xander Bogaerts sent Boston to extra innings with a game-tying double in the ninth Thursday in the Red Sox’s win over the Rays.

With Boston down to its last out in the ninth, Bogaerts stroked a double off the Green Monster, scoring Andrew Benintendi from third base. Left fielder Rob Refsnyder had a chance at it but either lost the ball in the wind or mistimed his jump. Either way, it tied the game and led to a 3-2 win in extras. Bogaerts struggled while playing through a wrist injury down the stretch last year but has gotten off to a great start this year with 11 hits including six doubles in his first 32 at-bats. That computes to a .344 average.
Apr 5 - 6:35 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total RBI in Saturday's win over the Rays.

Bogaerts victimized Andrew Kittredge for a solo home run with one out in the second inning, his first long ball of the season. He would later lash a double to left in the sixth stanza. He fell a triple short of the cycle when all was said and done. It's early yet, but the shortstop is off to a fantastic start on the year. Bogaerts has now picked up multiple hits in each of the first three games of the campaign, with six of his eight knocks going for extra bases.
Mar 31 - 9:47 PM

Xander Bogaerts had two more doubles and scored a run Friday versus the Rays.

Make that four doubles through two games for Bogaerts. Just to put things in perspective, he didn’t hit his fourth double last year until May 7. The 25-year-old was a disappointment in fantasy leagues last season, but we can’t ignore that he played through a wrist injury for much of it. If he can stay healthy, there’s serious profit potential here.
Mar 30 - 10:37 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored in Thursday's loss to the Rays.

Bogaerts got to Rays starter Chris Archer twice for extra bases, scoring in the second and seventh innings. Injuries marred his 2017 season, but Bogaerts is healthy to start 2018 and should rebound to put up good numbers at Fenway in the middle of a robust Red Sox lineup.
