White Sox placed INF/OF Leury Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained right thumb.
It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, but it could conceivably cost him the rest of the season. The 26-year-old is hitting .270/.316/.423 with nine homers, 33 RBI and eight swipes. Sep 2 - 2:47 PM

Leury Garcia (back) went 0-for-3 with a walk in his return to the White Sox lineup Sunday against the Tigers.

Garcia had missed a bit of time with stiffness along the right side of his back. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .281/.328/.442 with nine home runs and eight stolen bases in 83 games this season with Chicago.

Leury Garcia left Thursday's game against the Twins with right back stiffness.

Alen Hanson replaced him in right field to begin the fourth inning. Garcia went hitless in two at-bats before exiting. He's day-to-day.
Aug 24 - 9:27 PM

Leury Garcia went 2-for-4 with a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth as the White Sox edged the Twins 4-3 on Wednesday.

We would have bet a lot of money against Garcia ever turning into a capable major league regular, but he has a .781 OPS in 280 at-bats while also playing pretty good defense in the outfield. He'll be a lineup fixture the rest of the way.
Aug 23 - 11:40 PM

Leury Garcia finished with a single and a double across four at-bats in Tuesday's road loss against the Dodgers.

Garcia has posted three multi-hit games over his past six outings, and he has collected three doubles with four RBI during the span. He doesn't offer a lot of power, but he can help out with a decent average and an occasional stolen base.
Aug 16 - 3:48 AM

Leury Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Indians.

Garcia was just activated from the disabled list after missing a month-plus with a hand injury. He looked no worse for the wear in his return, knotting up the score at 1-1 with his solo home run in the sixth inning. At the time he was placed on the disabled list, the outfielder was slashing .298/.345/.459 with six homers and six steals.
Jul 30 - 5:23 PM

White Sox activated OF Leury Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia has been out since mid-June with a hand injury. He's hit .298/.345/.459 with six homers and six steals this season and will go back to seeing regular starts in the outfield.
Jul 30 - 1:34 PM

Leury Garcia (finger) was hitless across four at-bats while playing center field in his first minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Garcia moved his rehab from the Arizona Rookie League to Charlotte. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 19 and his injury has been healing slower than expected. He'll need a while to knock off the rust before he can be trusted again in fantasy circles.
Jul 30 - 12:13 AM

Leury Garcia (finger) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

That followed a two-game stint in the Arizona League. Garcia hit leadoff and started in center field Saturday, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. So far the 26-year-old has gone 4-for-13 with two homers and six RBI across three rehab appearances. Look for Garcia to join the Pale Hose within the next couple of days.
Jul 29 - 11:33 PM

Leury Garcia (finger) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with the Arizona Rookie League White Sox on Wednesday.

Garcia has been working out at the White Sox spring training facilities in Arizona. He has been out of action with a sprained finger on his left hand since June 16. This could potentially just be a short rehab assignment to get him up to speed. Barring a setback, he figures to rejoin the White Sox some time in the next week or so.
Jul 26 - 5:34 PM

Leury Garcia (finger) is poised to begin a rehab assignment soon.

Garcia has been working out at the White Sox' spring training complex in Arizona and his sprained finger appears to be back to 100 percent. His rehab assignment is expected to be a short one, so he would seem to be on track to return at the start of the second half.
Jul 3 - 7:44 PM

Leury Garcia still has some minor swelling on the top of his left hand.

The White Sox will wait until he's fully recovered before throwing him into game action again after they rushed him back too quickly the last time around. It's looking like it could be at least a couple weeks before Garcia returns.
Jun 27 - 5:19 PM

White Sox placed OF Leury Garcia on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 16, with a sprained finger on his left hand.

Garcia has been bothered by the injury for over a week and might have made it worse when he came off the bench Thursday against the Orioles. This all comes with frustrating timing for the 26-year-old center fielder, who is sporting a cool .298/.345/.459 batting line with six home runs and six stolen bases through 56 games this season. Alen Hanson and Willy Garcia will continue to share time in center for the White Sox. Charlie Tilson (foot) is on track to begin a minor league rehab assignment in early July.
Jun 19 - 12:00 PM

Leury Garcia (hand) remained out of the White Sox' lineup Sunday.

Garcia hasn't started a game in a week due to a bruised left hand. He had another X-ray Saturday, which confirmed that he doesn't have a break. He's available to pinch-run. Willy Garcia is in center field.
Jun 18 - 10:33 AM

Leury Garcia (hand) has been scratched from the White Sox lineup Friday night against the Blue Jays.

Garcia had renewed swelling in his left hand after coming off the bench Thursday night against the Orioles. Alen Hanson is now in center field and batting leadoff Friday versus Toronto right-hander Joe Biagini.
