Red Sox recalled RHP Heath Hembree from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hembree threw four scoreless innings in an extra-innings game earlier this month in his debut but was sent down the next day. He should remain in the Boston bullpen for the rest of the season.

Red Sox optioned RHP Heath Hembree to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hembree threw four scoreless innings in his Red Sox debut in Saturday's 19-inning marathon, but his reward is getting sent out before the Sox needed to get a fresh arm for the bullpen. He'll likely return when his 10 days are up.

Red Sox recalled RHP Heath Hembree from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hembree was just acquired from the Giants late last month in the Jake Peavy deal. The hard-throwing 25-year-old has posted a 3.73 ERA and 50/15 K/BB ratio over 41 innings this season in Triple-A and could quickly carve out a niche in Boston's bullpen.
Aug 4 - 4:18 PM

Red Sox acquired RHP Heath Hembree and LHP Edwin Escobar from the Giants for RHP Jake Peavy and cash considerations.

Hembree, a hard-throwing 25-year-old reliever, is expected to report to Triple-A Pawtucket. While he fell out of favor in San Francisco, it wouldn't be surprising to see him crack the Red Sox bullpen in short order.

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Red Sox will receive Heath Hembree and Edwin Escobar from the Giants in exchange for Jake Peavy.

The 25-year-old Hembree has served as the closer at Triple-A Fresno for the past three seasons, and owns a 3.89 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 46/13 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings on the year. Escobar, was ranked as Baseball America's 56th best prospect heading into the 2014 season, but has struggled with a 5.11 ERA over 20 starts in the PCL.

Giants optioned RHP Heath Hembree to Triple-A Fresno.

This move comes as a bit of a surprise, as the 25-year-old hurler has nothing left to prove at the minor league level and pitched well this spring with a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 5/2 K/BB ratio in four innings. He'll assuredly be back with the Giants at some point early in the 2014 season.
Mar 21 - 9:06 PM

The Giants will call up relief prospect Heath Hembree prior to Tuesday's game.

Joining Hembree among the Giants' call-ups will be Ehire Adrianza, George Kontos, Jake Dunning, Nick Noonan, Juan Perez, Francisco Peguero and Johnny Monell. Hembree holds a disappointing 4.07 ERA at Triple-A this season, but it's come along with a nice 63/16 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings.

Giants pitching prospect Heath Hembree has been activated from the disabled list and assigned to High-A San Jose.

Hembree has been out of action since early July with a mild flexor strain in his right elbow. He had been pitching for Triple-A Fresno before the injury, but the Giants want to ease him back into things. The team's possible closer of the future, Hembree might have been in the Giants' bullpen by now if not for the injury.

Heath Hembree was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain in his right elbow.

This confirms the suspicions of the Giants' front office. Hembree will be shut down for 10-14 days before being re-evaluated. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 5.52 ERA, 13 saves and a 26/15 K/BB over 31 innings with Triple-A Fresno this season.

Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans said Thursday that prospect right-hander Heath Hembree "looks to have" a flexor strain in his elbow.

Hembree will undergo an MRI to confirm, but the Giants don't think he'll be available to pitch in the Pacific Coast League All-Star Game. The 23-year-old reliever has a 5.52 ERA, 13 saves and a 26/15 K/BB over 31 innings of work this season.

Giants reassigned RHP Heath Hembree to minor league camp.

Hembree really impressed this spring, allowing one run over six innings while striking out seven and walking just one. The 23-year-old right-hander has averaged 14.0 K/9 in the minors and it shouldn't be long before he's a member of the Giants' bullpen.
