Giants pitching prospect Heath Hembree has been activated from the disabled list and assigned to High-A San Jose.
Hembree has been out of action since early July with a mild flexor strain in his right elbow. He had been pitching for Triple-A Fresno before the injury, but the Giants want to ease him back into things. Heath Hembree was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain in his right elbow.

This confirms the suspicions of the Giants' front office. Hembree will be shut down for 10-14 days before being re-evaluated. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 5.52 ERA, 13 saves and a 26/15 K/BB over 31 innings with Triple-A Fresno this season.

Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans said Thursday that prospect right-hander Heath Hembree "looks to have" a flexor strain in his elbow.

Hembree will undergo an MRI to confirm, but the Giants don't think he'll be available to pitch in the Pacific Coast League All-Star Game. The 23-year-old reliever has a 5.52 ERA, 13 saves and a 26/15 K/BB over 31 innings of work this season.

Heath Hembree - R - Giants

Giants reassigned RHP Heath Hembree to minor league camp.

Hembree really impressed this spring, allowing one run over six innings while striking out seven and walking just one. The 23-year-old right-hander has averaged 14.0 K/9 in the minors and it shouldn't be long before he's a member of the Giants' bullpen.
