Angels optioned INFs Luis Jimenez, Tommy Field and Efren Navarro, LHP Buddy Boshers and RHP Josh Wall to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Jimenez was competing for a bench job, but the Angels were probably looking for a little more defensive versatility. Boshers' chances at cracking the roster were hurt with Sean Burnett (elbow) looking likely to be ready for Opening Day.

After being delayed by visa issues, Luis Jimenez finally reported to Angels camp on Saturday.

He's only a few days behind the rest of his teammates after dealing with visa issues in his native Dominican Republic. The 26-year-old is expected to compete for a utility spot with the Angels this spring.

Luis Jimenez (shoulder) is not expected to return this season.

Luis Jimenez left Saturday's game against the Rangers with a right thumb contusion.

Jimenez was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning, the likely cause of the injury. He was left in to bat in the sixth inning before Andrew Romine took over for him at third base in the seventh. Jimenez had doubled and scored in the game before exiting.

Luis Jimenez (shoulder) will play a few more games in Arizona and could return to Triple-A Salt Lake if all goes well.

It was reported earlier in the day that the injury could end Jimenez' season, but it appears now it's quite the opposite. Jimenez is a candidate to be called up in September assuming everything with his shoulder is OK.

Luis Jimenez is likely out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

Jimenez spent some time with the Angels early in the season but has been at Triple-A Salt Lake since late May, so it's not an injury that will have much of an impact on the big club. The 25-year-old will likely be ready for the start of the 2014 season.

Luis Jimenez left Monday's game with a left shin contusion.

Jimenez suffered the injury when he was hit by a throw in the fifth inning. He stayed in the game for three more innings before exiting. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that he was pretty stiff after the game, so it's possible that he'll sit out Tuesday. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Angels recalled 3B Luis Jimenez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Jimenez had a very nice season at Triple-A in 2012, batting .309/.334/.495 with 16 homers this season at Salt Lake. There's no telling what role he'll be used in initially, but if he can displace Alberto Callaspo as the everyday third baseman, there could be sneaky fantasy value to be had here.
