Leonys Martin (hamstring) took batting practice Tuesday.
Martin landed on the disabled list last week with a strained left hamstring, but he's making quick progress. He should be ready to return when he's first eligible on June 10. May 31 - 2:07 PM

Mariners expect Leonys Martin (hamstring) to return from the disabled list after the 15-day minimum.

Manager Scott Servais said on Saturday that Martin's hamstring injury should only keep him out 7-10 days. That should enable him to return fully healthy at the 15-day mark. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .262/.339/.483 with nine homers and eight stolen bases, taking the road-less-traveled of improving offensively after moving to a more pitcher-friendly ballpark.

Mariners placed OF Leonys Martin on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

Rather than rush the hot-hitting outfielder back, they'll give him the proper time to heal his injury. Stefan Romero has been recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the M's roster.
May 27 - 8:44 PM

Leonys Martin said that his hamstring was feeling much better on Friday and he remains optimistic that he'll avoid a trip to the disabled list.

He's still expected to miss the next 3-4 games, so fantasy owners should plan to be without him for the remainder of the weekend. He's scheduled to take some swings on Friday, and if all goes well he should return to the lineup early next week.
May 27 - 6:42 PM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) only expects to miss a couple of games.

Martin was lifted from Wednesday's defeat of the Athletics after tweaking his left hamstring while running the bases in the bottom of the third inning. "They decided to take me out of the game to be smart," the hot-hitting center fielder said late Wednesday. "But I hope to be back in a few days. We've got a day off tomorrow and we'll see. This is the first time I've had this happen, but it'll be all right."
May 26 - 8:47 AM

Leonys Martin left Wednesday's game against the A's with a tweaked left hamstring.

Martin was replaced in center field by Shawn O'Malley to start the fourth inning. Prior to leaving with what the Mariners are deeming a minor injury, Martin had continued his recent hot-hitting ways with a third-inning RBI single and a stolen base. Seattle is labeling him day-to-day.
May 25 - 11:27 PM

Leonys Martin hit a walk-off two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the A's.

Martin had just one hit on the evening, but boy howdy, it was a big one. Down 5-4 with one on and two outs in the ninth inning, the 28-year-old outfielder stood as the Mariners' last line of defense against a probable loss. He would make sure that no defeat came their way, cracking a two-run walk-off dinger to deep right off A's closer Ryan Madson to end the game. Of lesser import, the homer pushed Martin to an eight-game hitting streak. He is slashing .259/.337/.483 with nine homers, 19 RBI and seven steals over 143 at-bats. The nine homers already stand as a career best for Martin.
May 25 - 1:49 AM

Leonys Martin went 4-for-5 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Reds.

All four of Martin's hits went for singles. He entered Sunday hitting just .231, but exited the win with a slightly less flimsy average of .252. The 28-year-old outfielder isn't a fantasy stud by any stretch of the imagination, but he is in line to rack up double-digit homers and double-digit steals this season.
May 22 - 5:19 PM

Leonys Martin hit his eighth home run of the season in Saturday's win over the Reds.

Martin finished 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and the solo blast. The homer was his third in his last four games, and he's now hit safely in eight of his last nine to raise his line to .231/.315/.454. His eight home runs tie a career high set in 2013, so his next will set a new single-season mark for the 28-year-old.
May 21 - 7:25 PM

Leonys Martin went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk Thursday against the Orioles.

That's seven homers in 126 at-bats for Martin. It's as many as he had in 533 at-bats for the Rangers in 2014 and one off his career high of eight in 457 at-bats in 2013. He's hardly hitting well otherwise, with a .214 average and 43 strikeouts, but the power and defense has been enough to make him a solid regular so far.
May 19 - 4:11 PM

Leonys Martin went 1-for-4 with his sixth home run of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

It's been a strange one for the 28-year-old center fielder. Fantasy owners have looked to Martin for stolen bases, yet have been rewarded with a half-dozen homers before we're a third of the way through the campaign. He's only hitting .203/.270/.382, though, so it's possible that he finds himself on the bench before too long.
May 18 - 10:36 PM

Leonys Martin's early-season struggles continued in Sunday's loss to the Royals as he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

The hitless afternoon drops Martin down to an abysmal .176/.262/.378 on the season. If he doesn't turn things around soon, he could be in jeopardy of losing most of his playing time in the Mariners' outfield.
May 1 - 8:21 PM

Leonys Martin is batting leadoff on Wednesday.

Nori Aoki is out with a sore shin, so Martin will handle the top spot in the Mariners' batting order against Rangers right-hander Colby Lewis. It's an intriguing DFS matchup for the speedy 28-year-old outfielder. Aoki should return to action on Friday.
Apr 6 - 12:08 PM

Leonys Martin slugged a walk-off homer as the Mariners beat the White Sox 5-4 in 10 innings on Friday.

The Mariners tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on a two-run homer from Nelson Cruz. Martin is batting just .190 (8-for-42) this spring, though he is 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts. The 28-year-old fell out of favor with the Rangers last season while batting just .219/.264/.313 over 95 games, but the Mariners bought low over the winter in hopes of a rebound. He figures to be at the bottom of the order, but there’s some sneaky speed potential here in fantasy leagues.
Mar 25 - 7:38 PM

Leonys Martin hit a three-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Giants.

As was the rage on Wednesday, Leonys teed off on Jeff Samardzija. In this case, he launched a three-run homer in the first inning to jump start the Mariners offense. They would manage another two homers against Samardzija before his day was done. Martin also collected a single on the day to finish 2-for-3. Last season, he played in just 95 games due to injury. When he did manage to take the field, the 28-year-old slashed .219/.264/.313. Until he can re-prove his health (he had hand surgery in August), it is difficult to project what kind of numbers he might post with the M's.
