Leonys Martin secured the Mariners' only hit in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Martin's little single was all the M's could manage against J.A. Happ and company. While he has had a few big moments this month -- including a two-homer performance against the White Sox on July 20 -- Martin has struggled for the most part since the calendar flipped. He entered Sunday's contest holding a soggy .188/.316/.359 triple-slash over 64 July at-bats. Jul 24 - 3:47 PM

Leonys Martin launched a walk-off solo home run to end Wednesday's 6-5, 11-inning win over the White Sox, his second homer of the game.

Martin's first shot was of the two-run variety. He socked it off White Sox starter Miguel Gonzalez in the second inning. The 28-year-old outfielder waited until the bottom of the 11th to crack homer No. 2, this one coming off reliever Dan Jennings. Unfortunately for Jennings, it would finish off the game. For the season, Martin is slashing .245/.324/.427 with 13 homers, 29 RBI and 10 steals over 274 at-bats.
Jul 20 - 9:16 PM

Leonys Martin went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and run scored in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Martin led off the sixth inning with a triple, his second of the season, and came around to score one batter later on a Robinson Cano RBI single. A hamstring injury in late May derailed what was looking to be a breakout year for the 28-year-old, and he's struggled since returning in mid-June. Martin is batting .249/.322/.418 with 11 home runs, 26 RBI, 36 runs scored and nine steals overall.
Jul 16 - 10:06 PM

Leonys Martin went hitless from the leadoff spot Friday and is 4-for-30 with 12 strikeouts to begin July.

Martin has fanned 18 times in his last 10 starts, and he's not looking like much of a leadoff hitter of late. If his slump continues, he could find himself returned to the bottom of the Mariners order.
Jul 8 - 11:22 PM

Leonys Martin laced three singles in five chances and scored a run on Saturday.

Martin is having the best season of his career after being terrible last year. He has traded some speed for more power this year. His 11 home runs are already a career high despite moving from a hitters' park in Texas to a pitchers' park in Seattle. He is hitting .257/.324/.450 with 26 runs, 26 RBI and nine steals.
Jun 26 - 2:06 AM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) returned to the Mariners starting lineup on Friday, going 0-for-4 in a loss to the Red Sox.

It's encouraging to see him back in the lineup against a left-handed pitcher, given his overall struggles against southpaws, which must mean that his hamstring is feeling better. The dynamic outfielder has 10 homers and nine stolen bases in 50 games on the season.
Jun 18 - 9:05 AM

Leonys Martin is out of the Mariners' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Rays.

Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times says Martin looked like he was bothered by his left hamstring on Wednesday night. He just missed 15 days between late May and early June with a mild left hamstring strain. Shawn O'Malley is starting in center field and batting ninth Thursday versus Rays left-hander Blake Snell.
Jun 16 - 11:16 AM

Leonys Martin connected on his 10th home run of the season in a losing effort against the Rangers on Sunday.

Martin's fifth inning solo blast came off of tough opposing southpaw Cole Hamels. He has already eclipsed his career high in home runs and is starting to realize the potential that we have all heard about for years. Martin finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now slashing .242/.316/.459 with 10 homers, 21 RBI and eight stolen bases on the season.
Jun 12 - 7:25 PM

Mariners activated OF Leonys Martin from the 15-day disabled list.

Martin missed the minimum amount of time with his mild hamstring strain and should jump right back into the starting lineup. He was hitting .262 with nine homers and eight steals prior to the injury.
Jun 10 - 6:39 PM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) will not appear in Thursday's rehab game for Triple-A Tacoma because of soggy field conditions.

The Mariners don't want Martin to risk getting hurt on a sloppy field. The team is still planning to activate him on Friday. Martin was placed on the disabled list with a strained hamstring last month but only needed a couple weeks to recover. He'll return to a .262 average with nine homers and 20 RBI.
Jun 9 - 7:00 PM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) will head to Triple-A Tacoma to begin a rehab assignment on Thursday.

Begin and end. Martin's rehab assignment is expected to last for just one game before he rejoins the Mariners on Friday. He took part in a simulated game on Wednesday and reported no issues. A strained left hamstring suffered on a stolen base attempt forced him to the disabled list on May 27.
Jun 8 - 9:34 PM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) is on track to be activated from the disabled list Friday.

Martin will participate in a simulated game Wednesday before playing in a real minor league rehab game on Thursday. If that all goes well, look for him to rejoin the Mariners' starting lineup Friday night against the Rangers. Martin has been on the disabled list since May 27 with a strained left hamstring.
Jun 7 - 6:44 PM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) ran the bases Monday.

Assuming the Mariners are happy with what they see, Martin could be cleared for a brief minor league rehab assignment. He's eligible to return from the disabled list on Friday, which appears to be within reach.
Jun 6 - 5:52 PM

Leonys Martin is tentatively scheduled to test out his left hamstring with some running on Friday.

Martin has already taken batting practice with no issues and said the hamstring is feeling "much better." He's eligible for activation from the disabled list on June 10 and could be ready at that time if he continues to progress. Martin has batted .262/.339/.483 with nine homers and eight steals for the Mariners this season.
Jun 3 - 10:27 AM

Leonys Martin (hamstring) took batting practice Wednesday.

The next step for Martin will be running, and he should be ready to take a crack at that this weekend. The 28-year-old outfielder initially injured his left hamstring on May 25. If all goes well in his recovery, he could be activated from the disabled list when he is first eligible to return on June 10.
