Leonys Martin went 2-for-4 with a triple and helped the Rangers walk off in the ninth inning with an RBI single to left-center in Wednesday's win against the Mariners.
Martin tripled and scored in the eighth inning to cut the Rangers' deficit to 2-1, then fueled the Fernando Rodney tire fire in the next inning, driving an outside fastball to the opposite field. Martin has been slow to get it going thus far, but the Rangers are hopeful Wednesday's performance spurs him. Apr 16 - 10:57 PM

Leonys Martin had a nice day at the dish in Sunday's loss the Padres, going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Martin scored twice and drove home a pair of runs in the contest. With the big day, he's now slashing .286/.375/.405 on the Cactus League season. A popular sleeper pick in fantasy drafts, Martin should have no problem delivering double-digit power totals to go along with his elite speed.

Leonys Martin went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, leading the Rangers to a 7-5 win over the Rangers in Cactus League play on Friday.

The speedy outfielder also scored a run in the process. The 26-year-old outfielder has a dynamic blend of power and speed, but his fantasy upside is limited hitting at the bottom of the Rangers lineup. He should still be a nice source of speed and provide double-digit homers, but the run and RBI totals will hamper his overall value.

Rangers manager Ron Washington laid out his Opening Day lineup on Wednesday, projecting Leonys Martin to bat at the bottom of the order.

Washington's full lineup, which he adamantly asserted he would use in the team's first game on March 31, was Shin-Soo Choo, Elvis Andrus, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, Alex Rios, Mitch Moreland, Geovany Soto, Jurickson Profar and Martin. Earlier this offseason Washington suggested Martin could bat leadoff in 2014, but that was before the team brought Choo on board. At the bottom of the lineup, the 25-year-old won't score as many runs as he would at the top and should be knocked a bit on draft day accordingly.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Monday that Leonys Martin projects to hit leadoff in 2014.

That's assuming the Rangers don't make a big move for a better-suited leadoff hitter. Martin got most of his plate appearances from the ninth spot in the lineup in 2013 and still managed to provide a considerable amount of fantasy value. He'd get a major boost in all standard leagues as the everyday guy at the head of the Texas lineup. Martin had 36 steals and 66 runs scored in 147 games this past year.

Leonys Martin hit a three-run double in the Rangers' win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Trailing 3-1 in the fourth inning, Martin's bases-clearing double off Astros starter Dallas Keuchel with two outs ended up being the difference in the game. Martin has 47 RBI and a .260/.313/.386 line in his first full major league season.

Leonys Martin went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run against the Rays on Tuesday.

Martin, batting ninth, broke through after three hitless games, totaling eight bases on the night. He scored three runs, including his eighth home run of the year. The 25-year-old outfielder will look to finish strong on what's been an impressive first full season.

Leonys Martin hit a walkoff RBI single to lift the Rangers past the Twins by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Martin's game-winning base hit to center field scored Alex Rios and helped the Rangers bounce back from their frustrating loss Saturday behind Yu Darvish. Martin has done some nice things this season and should remain a valuable fantasy outfielder down the stretch. He has 36 RBI, 54 runs scored and 29 stolen bases in 119 games.

Leonys Martin had a three-run homer and an RBI single in the Rangers' 12-4 defeat of the Mariners on Wednesday.

The rout gave Texas a three-game sweep in Seattle. Martin is hitting just .236 for the month, but he's driven in 16 runs and scored 13 times in 23 games. He entered August with a total of 20 RBI in 84 games for the season.

Leonys Martin (ankle) is out of the Rangers' starting lineup for the second straight day Monday against the Mariners.

Martin sprained his right ankle during a collision with teammate David Murphy on Saturday and apparently needs at least one more day to recover. Craig Gentry is starting in center field on Monday while Jeff Baker starts in left.

Leonys Martin is being considered day-to-day after X-ray results came back negative on his injured ankle.

Martin injured the ankle in an outfield collision with teammate David Murphy in Friday's loss to the White Sox. He'll likely get a day of rest on Sunday, but should return to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Mariners.

Leonys Martin was removed from Saturday's game against the White Sox after colliding with teammate David Murphy in the outfield.

Martin remained on the ground after the collision, grabbing his ankle. No word yet on the extent or severity of the injury, but the team is likely to provide an update on his status shortly. Adam Rosales replaced him in the lineup, with Alex Rios sliding to center field and Mitch Moreland moving to right.

Leonys Martin went 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and three runs scored against the Astros on Monday.

Probably Martin's best game yet in the leadoff spot. But, then, everyone had a good game for the Rangers tonight. Martin didn't attempt a steal in the rout. He's just 1-for-4 stealing bases in 10 games since swiping six bases in two days against the Angels earlier this month.
