White Sox activated RHP Jake Petricka from the 10-day disabled list.
Petricka has been out since Opening Day with a strained lat but made it through a rehab assignment with no issues. He figures to be eased back into high-leverage situations but it shouldn't be too long before he's trusted in a setup role again. Jun 9 - 1:21 PM

Jake Petricka (lat) worked a scoreless inning in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Petricka suffered a strained right lat on Opening Day and hasn't pitched since. He's finally making tangible strides toward a recovery and should be ready to rejoin the White Sox bullpen by the end of next week.
Jun 3 - 9:50 AM

Jake Petricka (lat) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte this coming weekend.

Petricka was sidelined by a strained right lat following his first appearance of the 2017 campaign in the season-opener. He threw live batting practice in extended spring training last week and with his minor league assignment rapidly approaching, he figures to rejoin the team at some point in early June.
May 31 - 5:14 PM

Jake Petricka (lat) threw live batting practice at extended spring training Monday.

It's the first time he's faced hitters since he went down with a strained lat in his first appearance of the season. Petricka is starting a throwing program over from scratch, so it will be a while.
May 22 - 6:49 PM

Jake Petricka (lat) still hasn't resumed throwing.

Petricka landed on the disabled list April 5 after straining his right lat muscle in Chicago's season opener. The right-handed reliever probably won't be back to full health until sometime in early-to-mid May.
Apr 18 - 5:26 PM

White Sox placed RHP Jake Petricka on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 5, with a strained right lat.

Petricka tossed a scoreless inning in Tuesday's opener but evidently must have tweaked his lat in the process. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, but it's an injury that typically requires longer than a minimum DL stay. Tommy Kahnle has taken Petricka's spot in the bullpen.
Apr 6 - 10:40 AM

Jake Petricka (hand) will play catch on Tuesday.

He was drilled by a comebacker on Monday but X-rays on his right hand came back negative. Petricka is still on track to pitch against the Brewers this weekend. The right-hander will be fine for Opening Day.
Mar 28 - 3:33 PM

X-rays on Jake Petricka's right hand came back negative.

Petricka took a comebacker off his hand on Monday, but fortunately he avoided serious injury. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Mar 28 - 12:41 PM

Jake Petricka will undergo an X-ray after being hit on the right hand by a comebacker.

Petricka said that everything "seems OK," but we'll have to wait and find out what the exam says. He'll be a middle reliever for the Pale Hose this season.
Mar 27 - 6:45 PM

White Sox and RHP Jake Petricka avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $825,000 contract.

He made $535,000 last year and gets a nice raise in his first shot at arbitration. He has been a middle-innings workhorse out of the bullpen in his White Sox career. He registered a 3.63 ERA over 62 games in 2015 but he pitched in only nine games in 2016 due to a hip injury. His rather pedestrian strikeout rate makes him an unlikely candidate for a set-up or closing role.
Jan 12 - 7:27 PM

White Sox activated RHP Jake Petricka from the 60-day disabled list.

Petricka was shut down in early May with a right hip impingement and never made it back. He owns a cool 3.31 ERA in 152 1/3 career innings at the major league level, but the 28-year-old right-hander will probably have to battle for a bullpen spot next spring in White Sox camp after what was basically a lost 2016.

White Sox transferred RHP Jake Petricka from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Petricka is done for the year with a hip injury. He landed on the 15-day disabled list in early May.

Jake Petricka will miss the remainder of the 2016 season due to a labrum injury.

Petricka initially hit the disabled list at the beginning of May. It has been the disabled list stint from Hades. He was initially expected to miss the minimum, but soreness in his right hip lingered and now it has become clear that he will not be able to return to the major league mound. Surgery is a possibility, though it is not yet known if Petricka will be taking that path.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Saturday that Jake Petricka is still battling soreness in his right hip.

The Sox had hoped when Petricka was placed on the disabled list that he'd only require a minimum disabled list stint, but the reliever has already missed two weeks and he's still sore. It's unclear when Petricka might be ready to resume a throwing program.
