Hunter Morris - 1B - Brewers

Hunter Morris smashed a solo homer in Wednesday's win over the Mariners.

The longball came in the second inning off of Blake Beavan. Morris could be the favorite to play first base on Opening Day for the Brewers with Corey Hart and Mat Gamel on the shelf, though he's now picked up just three hits in his first 18 at-bats this spring. Morris batted .303/.357/.563 with 28 home runs and 113 RBI last season at Double-A.

Hunter Morris - 1B - Brewers

Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said Monday that Hunter Morris "will be a strong candidate" to open the season as the team's starting first baseman.

Mat Gamel was supposed to be that guy for Milwaukee, but he re-injured his surgically-repaired right knee this weekend and has been ruled out for the year. Morris, 24, batted .303/.357/.563 with 28 home runs and 113 RBI in 136 games last season at Double-A Huntsville. He could carry value in NL-only fantasy leagues. Corey Hart (knee) is expected to return to the Brewers by mid-May.

	2	Kyle Lohse Sidelined Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Wednesday that Kyle Lohse began feeling discomfort in his right elbow "two or three starts ago" and was recovering slower than usual between starts. As a result, the Brewers have scratched him from his next scheduled start on Saturday. The Brewers are hopeful that it's not a major issue, but this isn't what you want to hear from someone who is in the first year of a three-year, $33 million contract. May 22

Just kind of taking it day by day and see how it goes Friday against hitters," Narveson said. "You’re just trying to prepare yourself and get your body ready to pitch again. Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability. He has been sent back to Phoenix for further testing, after which we should know more about the next step. May 9
