Dodgers signed LHP Jeremy Horst to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Horst, 29, spent all of last season at Triple-A with the Phillies, posting a 3.98 ERA with 57 strikeouts over 63 1/3 frames. He struggled in the majors with Philly in 2013 but overall boasts a 3.34 ERA while striking out nearly a batter per innings across his 72 major league relief appearances. He's a nice depth add at the very least. Jan 27 - 7:40 PM

Phillies designated LHP Jeremy Horst for assignment.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Cesar Jimenez. Horst has been at Triple-A Lehigh Valley all season, where he's posted a 4.35 ERA while walking 16 over 20 2/3 innings.

Phillies optioned LHP Jeremy Horst, C Tommy Joseph, and OFs Tyson Gillies and Zach Collier to Triple-A Lehigh Valley; reassigned LHP Cesar Jimenez, RHP Ken Giles and INF Andres Blanco to minor league camp.

Horst had a legit shot to break camp had he pitched well, but he didn't (9.64 ERA) and the Phillies look to be going with Jake Diekman as their second left-hander. None of the other cuts had a real chance to make the team.

Jeremy Horst (elbow) could begin a throwing program soon.

Horst has been out since mid-June with an elbow injury. If he returns, it will be well into September. The Phillies are likely just hoping he'll be OK for spring training.

Phillies transferred RHP Jeremy Horst from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot for Steve Susdorf on the 40-man roster. Horst recently received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his throwing elbow and is at risk for missing the rest of the season.

Jeremy Horst (elbow) suffered a setback during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will likely be shut down for the season.

Horst is dealing with renewed soreness in his left (pitching) elbow and is scheduled to visit with Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection on Friday and will not throw for at least six weeks.

Jeremy Horst (elbow) will make another rehab appearance on Monday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Horst threw a scoreless inning in his rehab debut on Saturday. The southpaw has been on the disabled list since June 17 with a left elbow strain. He should be back in the Phillies' bullpen by the middle of this week.

Jeremy Horst (elbow) will resume throwing on Wednesday.

Horst has been on the DL for just over a week with a left elbow strain, but he's evidently feeling much better. It appears he has a shot to return before the All-Star break.

Phillies placed LHP Jeremy Horst on the 15-day disabled list with a left elbow strain.

Horst was excellent for the Phillies in 2012 but has struggled to the tune of a 6.23 ERA here in 2013. He's going to have his elbow checked out by a specialist.

Jeremy Horst has not carried over his success from 2012, posting a 5.09 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over 17 2/3 innings.

Luckily for him, Philly's bullpen depth is poor. A lack of attractive alternative options will only save Horst's job for so long, however, if he keeps getting lit up at this rate. Horst posted a 1.74 ERA over 44 games in limited time the last two seasons, which is probably why the Phillies have given him as much rope as they have.

Phillies activated LHP Jeremy Horst from the paternity leave list.

Horst missed a couple days for the birth of his child. He will back in the Phillies' bullpen on Thursday night.

Phillies placed LHP Jeremy Horst on the paternity leave list.

Horst can remain on the paternity leave list for 24 to 72 hours. The Phillies called up prospect right-hander Phillippe Aumont from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding roster move.
Mon, Aug 20, 2012 10:22:00 PM

Phillies purchased the contract of LHP Jeremy Horst from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The hope is that Horst will help stabilize a bullpen that has been mostly wretched through the first three months of the 2012 season. The 26-year-old left-hander was rocking a 2.11 ERA in 38 1/3 innings at Triple-A.

Phillies reassigned LHPs Jeremy Horst and David Purcey to minor league camp.

Horst was acquired this winter in a trade with the Reds. The 26-year-old posted a promising 2.81 ERA in 51-plus innings last year at the Triple-A level and should see action in the major leagues later this season.
