Cory Spangenberg had an RBI double, a stolen base and two runs scored in a win over the Giants on Sunday.
Spangenberg also walked in the game, which was his most productive in nearly two weeks. Coming into the game, he had just three hits -- a double and two singles, with no RBI or runs scored -- in his previous 25 at-bats. His versatility makes him valuable, but he'll have to start producing if he wants to stay a regular part of an improving Padres lineup. Apr 15 - 8:36 PM

Cory Spangenberg finished 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout in Wednesday's 5-2 loss against the Rockies.

Spangenberg had the first two hits of the game for the Padres before his teammates joined him and added four more knocks. He seemed to be the only one able to solve Jon Gray, who was throwing darts. Spangenberg was also making his first start in left field. His versatility from an eligibility perspective is his most endearing feature to fantasy owners in NL-only formats.
Apr 5 - 2:54 AM

Cory Spangenberg finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's home loss against the Brewers.

The highlight of Spangenberg's evening was a two-run shot off of Milwaukee starter Jhoulys Chacin, his first hit in five at-bats on the young season. The Swiss Army Knife fell short in his battle for the starting second base job, but he'll make several starts there, at third base like today, and all over. Spangenberg is a popular player for fantasy owners in NL-only leagues because of his multi-eligibility.
Mar 31 - 4:10 AM

Cory Spangenberg went 3-for-3 and cracked a solo home run in Friday's Cactus League win over the White Sox.

He singled twice in the game while serving as the second baseman and leadoff batter. He followed a Matt Szczur solo shot with one of his own off starter Carson Fulmer in the third inning. Spangenberg started 86 games at third base for the Padres last year, and also played some second base and outfield. He is battling for the starting second base job this spring and is likely to play all over the diamond again this year.
Mar 9 - 7:31 PM

Cory Spangenberg jammed his wrist during a workout over the weekend.

It's not believed to be serious, but it sounds like Spangenberg will be held out of game action for a few days. The 26-year-old is competing for playing time at second base.

Padres and INF Cory Spangenberg avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.7 million contract.

Spangenberg was eligible for arbitration for the first time. He hit .264/.322/.401 with 13 homers and 11 steals last season.
Jan 12 - 2:55 PM

Corey Spangenberg is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Rich Hill is starting, so the Padres are loading up with right-handed hitters. Travis Jankowski is also out of the starting lineup for San Diego, with Christian Villanueva and Jabari Blash playing instead.

Cory Spangenberg went 0-for-4 in Friday's loss and is 9-for-55 with one RBI and three runs scored in September.

Hunter Renfroe and Christian Villanueva were making the Padres look bad for keeping them in the minors, so the team reverted to an uglier lineup tonight, sitting those two and starting Spangenberg and Travis Jankowski in the outfield corners. They ended up losing 4-1, which is probably what they wanted anyway. Spangenberg hasn't embarrassed himself offensively with his .257/.313/.396 line this year, but he strikes out a whole lot for someone with modest power and he's just not an asset anywhere defensively. Most of his playing time should be going to others.

Cory Spangenberg finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Spangenberg is slashing .271/.325/.421 overall on the season, and he has been a bit inconsistent of late. However, he isn't a bad fantasy option in deeper leagues and DFS play, especially for his work in the stolen bases department.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-3 in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Spangenberg collected a pair of singles in what was a quiet offensive game by both teams. The third baseman owns a .278/.331/.434 triple-slash with 12 homers and 43 RBI over the course of 334 at-bats. He has posted five multi-hit showings in his last eight games.

Cory Spangenberg finished with a double, a solo home run, two runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.

The RBI total was a single-game career high. Spangenberg is enjoying quite the week. He has hit safely in seven straight, including multi-hit efforts in each of his past four outings. He has also homered in a career-high three straight, posting four homers and eight RBI during the impressive stretch.

Cory Spangenberg went 3-for-3 with a homer, a walk, a steal and three runs scored as the Padres topped the Phillies 7-4 on Monday.

Spangenberg belongs in a utility role, but the Padres have been treating him as their everyday third baseman these last two months. He is hitting pretty well, with three homers the last two days taking his OPS from .715 to .760, but his defense is mediocre and his 90/24 K/BB ratio in 346 plate appearances wouldn't seem to bode well.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three total RBI in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.

Spangenberg gave the Padres an early 1-0 lead with his solo homer off Kenta Maeda in the first inning. He would strike again for a two-run shot in the sixth. The third baseman has picked up four extra-base hits in his last four games. For the campaign as a whole, Spangenberg is slashing .271/.324/.414 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI over the course of 90 games played.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI triple and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Pirates.

Spangenberg raced around for an RBI triple in the sixth inning to tie the game at 2-2, later coming home on a wild pitch to give the Padres a 3-2 edge they would not relinquish. The 26-year-old third baseman has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games and is slashing .271/.321/.410 with eight homers and 31 RBI in 77 games.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Spangenberg stepped to the plate with a runner on and one out in the seventh inning against Madison Bumgarner and proceeded to blast a two-run homer to break a 2-2 tie and propel the Padres on their way to victory. He has been working with a hot stick of late, having bopped three home runs in his last five games, including dingers each of his last two contests. For the season as a whole, Spangenberg is hitting to a .266/.306/.409 triple-slash with eight home runs and 28 RBI over the course of 69 games played.
