Corey Spangenberg is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Rich Hill is starting, so the Padres are loading up with right-handed hitters. Travis Jankowski is also out of the starting lineup for San Diego, with Christian Villanueva and Jabari Blash playing instead.

Cory Spangenberg went 0-for-4 in Friday's loss and is 9-for-55 with one RBI and three runs scored in September.

Hunter Renfroe and Christian Villanueva were making the Padres look bad for keeping them in the minors, so the team reverted to an uglier lineup tonight, sitting those two and starting Spangenberg and Travis Jankowski in the outfield corners. They ended up losing 4-1, which is probably what they wanted anyway. Spangenberg hasn't embarrassed himself offensively with his .257/.313/.396 line this year, but he strikes out a whole lot for someone with modest power and he's just not an asset anywhere defensively. Most of his playing time should be going to others.

Cory Spangenberg finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Spangenberg is slashing .271/.325/.421 overall on the season, and he has been a bit inconsistent of late. However, he isn't a bad fantasy option in deeper leagues and DFS play, especially for his work in the stolen bases department.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-3 in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Spangenberg collected a pair of singles in what was a quiet offensive game by both teams. The third baseman owns a .278/.331/.434 triple-slash with 12 homers and 43 RBI over the course of 334 at-bats. He has posted five multi-hit showings in his last eight games.

Cory Spangenberg finished with a double, a solo home run, two runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.

The RBI total was a single-game career high. Spangenberg is enjoying quite the week. He has hit safely in seven straight, including multi-hit efforts in each of his past four outings. He has also homered in a career-high three straight, posting four homers and eight RBI during the impressive stretch.

Cory Spangenberg went 3-for-3 with a homer, a walk, a steal and three runs scored as the Padres topped the Phillies 7-4 on Monday.

Spangenberg belongs in a utility role, but the Padres have been treating him as their everyday third baseman these last two months. He is hitting pretty well, with three homers the last two days taking his OPS from .715 to .760, but his defense is mediocre and his 90/24 K/BB ratio in 346 plate appearances wouldn't seem to bode well.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three total RBI in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.

Spangenberg gave the Padres an early 1-0 lead with his solo homer off Kenta Maeda in the first inning. He would strike again for a two-run shot in the sixth. The third baseman has picked up four extra-base hits in his last four games. For the campaign as a whole, Spangenberg is slashing .271/.324/.414 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI over the course of 90 games played.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI triple and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Pirates.

Spangenberg raced around for an RBI triple in the sixth inning to tie the game at 2-2, later coming home on a wild pitch to give the Padres a 3-2 edge they would not relinquish. The 26-year-old third baseman has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games and is slashing .271/.321/.410 with eight homers and 31 RBI in 77 games.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Spangenberg stepped to the plate with a runner on and one out in the seventh inning against Madison Bumgarner and proceeded to blast a two-run homer to break a 2-2 tie and propel the Padres on their way to victory. He has been working with a hot stick of late, having bopped three home runs in his last five games, including dingers each of his last two contests. For the season as a whole, Spangenberg is hitting to a .266/.306/.409 triple-slash with eight home runs and 28 RBI over the course of 69 games played.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Spangenberg, who cracked a three-run homer off Jon Gray in the sixth inning, was essentially the entire offense for the Padres in what ended as an 18-4 demolition. He has picked up six hits in his last 15 at-bats, including a pair of three-run dingers.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a triple in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Spangenberg put a loud exclamation point on a rough day at the office for Jeff Samardzija, clocking a three-run home run in the third inning to give the Padres a 7-1 lead. They would go on to win by that final score. The 26-year-old third baseman has largely been a quiet performer with the bat this season, hitting .257/.294/.381 with six homers and 23 RBI across 65 games played.

Cory Spangenberg singled twice, drove in a run and stole a base in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

Spangenberg singled and stole second base in the third, and his RBI fielder's choice in the fifth wound up being the only run of the game. He's best suited for a utility role, but Spangenberg has been holding down the hot corner for the Pads.

Cory Spangenberg finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Saturday's win against the Tigers.

Spangenberg is enjoying his most productive stretch of the season, hitting .339 (20-for-59) with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI in June. He has raised his average from .234 to .271 since June 1.

Cory Spangenberg singled, walked twice and stole his fourth base Friday against the Tigers.

Spangenberg scored the only run in a 1-0 game. He's performed better since the Padres committed to him and sent Ryan Schimpf down, but his .265/.297/.373 line still isn't very impressive. He has a 49/7 K/BB ratio in 177 plate appearances.
