Cardinals claimed LHP Sean Gilmartin off waivers from the Mets; optioned him to Triple-A Memphis.

Gilmartin was just designated for assignment Sunday and has already been scooped up. He holds a career 4.14 ERA over 66 appearances -- two starts -- in the majors and will give the Cards left-handed depth with the potential to start or reliever.
Jun 11 - 2:13 PM

Mets designated LHP Sean Gilmartin for assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Seth Lugo's (elbow) return. Gilmartin holds a 4.14 ERA over 66 appearances -- two starts -- over the last three seasons with the Mets.
Jun 11 - 12:36 PM

Mets optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A Las Vegas.

With Wilmer Flores being activated from the disabled list, Gilmartin's demotion acts as the corresponding roster move. He made two appearances (3 1/3 innings) with the big league club this season and surrendered five runs on eight hits in that space. He figures to see additional call-ups later this summer depending on when the Mets need bullpen fortification.
May 3 - 4:20 PM

Mets recalled LHP Sean Gilmartin from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin has made one scoreless relief appearance over two separate stints with the Mets this season. The club plans to use him out of the bullpen, although it's possible he could be needed to start if Noah Syndergaard (biceps) winds up on the disabled list.
Apr 28 - 3:13 PM

Mets optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin has made just one appearance this season at the major league level despite receiving two separate callups. Matt Reynolds is replacing him on the Mets' active roster Wednesday.
Apr 26 - 3:00 PM

Mets recalled LHP Sean Gilmartin from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin was sent down Thursday, but he's returned with the Mets making a couple disabled list moves. He'll expected to work in long relief, although it's possible he'll have to make a spot start Saturday if Jacob deGrom (neck) isn't ready.
Apr 21 - 4:08 PM

Mets optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Mets made a flurry of roster moves Thursday to account for Travis d’Arnaud’s wrist injury and Jeurys Familia’s return from suspension. Gilmartin appeared in just one game before being sent down. Expect the left-hander to continue shuttling back and forth between Vegas and Queens.
Apr 20 - 4:59 PM

Mets recalled LHP Sean Gilmartin from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin can give the Mets some innings if they need them with three relievers unavailable tonight. He gave up three runs over 3 1/3 innings in his one start for Las Vegas.
Apr 14 - 4:47 PM

Mets optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin spent the majority of spring training working through a left shoulder issue. He posted a rough 7.13 ERA in 17 2/3 innings last season at the big league level.
Mar 30 - 9:07 AM

Sean Gilmartin (shoulder) faced live hitters on Monday morning in Mets camp.

Gilmartin hasn't appeared in a Grapefruit League game since March 8 due to shoulder trouble and can probably be ruled out for Opening Day. The left-hander was a longshot for the Mets' roster anyway after posting an awful 7.13 ERA in 17 2/3 innings last season at the major league level.
Mar 27 - 10:09 AM

Sean Gilmartin started versus the Nationals on Saturday and allowed one run on one hit in two innings.

He gave up a home run to Bryce Harper in his second inning of work to account for the only blemish on his line. He is unlikely to make the Mets' rotation and will need a sterling spring to earn a spot in the bullpen. He pitched in 14 games for the Mets last year, finishing with a brutal 7.13 ERA in 17 2/3 innings. The left-hander will try to regain his 2015 form in which he put up a 2.67 ERA in 57 1/3 frames.
Feb 25 - 4:39 PM

Mets recalled LHP Sean Gilmartin from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin held a 2.67 ERA in 57 1/3 innings last season, but he has yet to find that kind of success in 2016. The 26-year-old southpaw has made five appearances with the Mets this season and has allowed seven runs on 11 hits in nine innings. There is no fantasy intrigue here.

Gilmartin was knocked around for seven runs over three innings in his last two appearances out of the bullpen. The Mets are bringing up a fresh arm to replace him.
