Tyler Beede imploded to the tune of six runs allowed on eight hits over 2 1/3 innings in Saturday's split-squad Cactus League win over the Angels.
Oh dear goodness. Beede started out the contest without issue, tossing a pair of scoreless frames before everything unraveled on the 24-year-old right-hander. All six runs on his line came home in third inning, all before an out was recorded. Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Kole Calhoun and Rene Rivera each picked up an RBI hit off Beede in the frame. He was unlikely to make the Opening Day rotation even prior to Saturday's debacle. Mar 10 - 6:52 PM

Tyler Beede pitched well in Saturday's victory over the Indians, allowing just one run on one hit over three strong innings.

The right-hander walked one and struck out two on the day. The only blemish on his afternoon came on a solo shot off the bat of Giovanny Urshela in the third inning. Beede isn't expected to crack the Opening Day rotation, but that could change if he can string together several more starts like this.

Giants purchased the contract of RHP Tyler Beede from Triple-A Sacramento.

A former first-round pick, Beede struggled in his first taste of Triple-A in 2017 with a 4.79 ERA and 83/39 K/BB ratio across 109 frames. The 24-year-old is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

Giants pitching prospect Tyler Beede gave up no earned runs and struck out four over four innings on Tuesday for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday.

It's a big improvement over Beede's last start, and as nice as those statistics above are, the most important thing was that he didn't walk anyone. When the 2014 first-round pick is throwing his entire arsenal for strikes, he's a potential third starter. When he's not, he's not. Beede should make at least one more appearance for Scottsdale before the end of the 2017 AFL season, possibly two. He could be a candidate for the rotation if he pitches like this in Spring Training.

Giants pitching prospect Tyler Beede gave up five runs in just two innings of work for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday.

Beede allowed four hits, and walked three. There's obvious rust to shake off, as he missed the last month of the year with a groin strain. Still, command troubles have followed him since he was at Vanderbilt. Even with above-average stuff, it's tough to suggest he'll be more than a backend starter unless the control and command improve significantly.

Giants' top pitching prospect Tyler Beede is expected to miss the remainder of the 2017 season due to his groin strain.

The club had hoped to get a look at Beede during September, but they'll play things extremely cautiously with their prized right-hander. It's likely that he'll work in the Arizona Fall League in order to bolster his innings total for the season.

Giants prospect right-hander Tyler Beede was scratched from his scheduled start with Triple-A Sacramento on Monday due to a groin strain.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle notes that Beede suffered the injury while warming up. There should be more clarity on his status soon. The 24-year-old has compiled a 4.79 ERA and 83/39 K/BB ratio in 109 innings over 19 starts this year.

Giants prospect Tyler Beede pitched seven innings and gave up four runs on Wednesday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Beede gave up the four runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out eight. The strikeouts are nice, but he struggled with command on Wednesday, and he also gave up three homers on the night. Until he shows more consistency, it's unlikely he makes his debut with San Francisco this summer. It's too bad, because the stuff looks like it's ready to go right now. The command just isn't there yet.

Giants prospect Tyler Beede gave up just one run in six innings for Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Beede only struck out three in those six innings, but he also only walked one and allowed just three hits. There's been more good than bad for the former first-round pick this year, and with Madison Bumgarner's injury, the Giants will likely need his right arm at some point in 2017. It could be before June if he keeps having more starts like this.

Giants prospect Tyler Beede struggled on Monday, giving up five runs in under five innings for Triple-A Sacramento.

Beede didn't get a lot of help from his defense, and two of those runs were unearned. He did give up eight hits, however, and he walked three. With Madison Bumgarner out for a substantial amount of time, Beede has an opportunity to join the rotation. He'll have to pitch better than this to make it a reality.

Giants pitching prospect didn't allow a run in his start on Wednesday for Triple-A Sacramento.

In his 6 2/3 innings, Beede did allow three walks but he also only allowed three hits and struck out four. It's a nice bounce back for the 2014 first-round selection, and while he's putting too many hitters on via walk (seven in 16 2/3 innings) there's been more good than bad to begin the year.

Giants pitching prospect Tyler Beede gave up just one run in his 2017 debut for Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Beede gave up just five hits over the six innings of work, and while he only struck out three, he also didn't walk anyone. He has two swing-and-miss pitches in his fastball and change, and when he's locating his breaking-balls, he's very tough to hit. The upside isn't elite, but Beede should miss just enough bats to be fantasy relevant, with a strong chance of showing that relevancy in 2017.

Tyler Beede pitched well in Saturday's Cactus League game against the A's, allowing two runs on five hits over four innings.

That hit total might have been a bit high, but otherwise, fine work by Beede. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out five and did not walk a batter on the afternoon. He will start the season at Triple-A Sacramento but figures to receive a call-up from the Giants at some point during the 2017 season.

Giants optioned RHP Tyler Beede to Triple-A Sacramento.

The right-hander wrapped up an impressive showing in Cactus League play with a pair of shutout innings on Sunday. He should debut with the Giants at some point in 2017.

Tyler Beede started against the Angels on Thursday and held them scoreless for two innings.

He gave up a pair of hits and a walk while striking out one. The 23-year-old former first-round draft pick is an exciting prospect who delivered a 2.81 ERA in 24 starts at Double-A last year. He will likely start the season at Triple-A and could provide a boost to the Giants' rotation as soon as this summer.
