Hector Sanchez is not in the Padres' starting lineup on Saturday.
Despite the fact that he has been red-hot and crushing his former team, he'll get a breather with it being a day game after a night game. Luis Torrens is starting behind the dish and batting eighth for the Padres against Matt Moore and the Giants on Saturday afternoon. Jul 22 - 1:40 PM

Hector Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Sanchez has been playing well of late, having picked up multiple hits in two of his last three games. He had also homered in three consecutive games prior to action on Wednesday. Overall, the backstop is slashing .218/.254/.545 with six homers and 14 RBI in 33 games played.

Hector Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Sanchez got this 7-1 laugher off to a rollicking start with his three-run home run off Jeff Samardzija in the first inning. He has managed to play in just 31 games this season due to a foot injury which sidelined him for a little under two months of action. When healthy, Sanchez has struggled to a .190/.222/.476 triple-slash, though he has shown some nice pop, having swatted four homers in 47 at-bats.
Jul 16 - 7:44 PM

Padres activated C Hector Sanchez from the 10-day disabled list.

He's been out since early May with a foot injury. The Padres now have three catchers on the roster again, although Austin Hedges (thigh) is banged up.
Jun 23 - 5:35 PM

Hector Sanchez (foot) went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and four RBI on Tuesday night with Triple-A El Paso.

Sanchez had to be pulled off a rehab assignment in late May after suffering a setback with his right foot, but he started playing in games again on June 15 and is probably just about ready to rejoin the Padres -- though there might not be a spot for him. Luis Torrens is currently serving as the backup to starting catcher Austin Hedges.
Jun 21 - 11:17 AM

Hector Sanchez (foot) has experienced a setback during his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso.

Sanchez, who went down with a foot contusion earlier this month, began a rehab assignment on Friday and went 2-for-9 with two walks over the weekend. No word on the severity of the setback or when he'll be able to return to action.
May 22 - 3:01 PM

Hector Sanchez (foot) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso.

He'll remain with El-Paso through the weekend before likely returning to the Padres' active roster early next week. Assuming no setbacks. Sanchez has been on the disabled list since May 6 because of a right foot contusion. It's possible San Diego will opt to keep Luis Torrens as the backup to starting catcher Austin Hedges.
May 18 - 1:57 PM

Hector Sanchez (foot) caught a bullpen session Monday.

Sanchez will also attempt to go through a full workout. He appears to be close to returning from his bruised foot.
May 15 - 7:14 PM

Padres placed C Hector Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 6, with a right foot contusion.

Sanchez fouled a ball off the foot Friday and is apparently still pretty sore. Luis Torrens will be Austin Hedges' backup.
May 7 - 3:08 PM

Hector Sanchez was lifted from Friday's game against the Dodgers with a right foot contusion.

Sanchez fouled a ball off of his foot and was pulled for precautionary purposes, getting replaced by Austin Hedges. He should be considered day-to-day.
May 6 - 12:39 AM

Hector Sanchez clubbed a game-tying two-run homer off of Mark Melancon in the ninth inning on Sunday.

It was his only at-bat in the contest, and he certainly made the most of it by victimizing his former teammates. Sanchez is hitting just .133/.235/.333 with one homer and three RBI in his limited action this season.
Apr 30 - 7:35 PM

Padres activated catcher Hector Sanchez from the seven-day concussion disabled list.

Sanchez will share backup reps with Luis Torrens behind Austin Hedges and serve as a pinch-hitter.
Apr 14 - 3:51 PM

Padres placed C Hector Sanchez on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Sanchez left Thursday's game versus the Dodgers due to dizziness and apparently didn't pass concussion protocol. He has a history of concussions, which makes the situation a bit scary. Luis Torrens will now be Austin Hedges' main backup at catcher, although pitcher/catcher hybrid Christian Bethancourt is also on the roster.
Apr 7 - 3:32 PM

Hector Sanchez left Thursday's game against the Dodgers with dizziness.

The Padres originally called his exit precautionary but now Sanchez is being treated for concussion-like symptoms. Obviously there was no reason to keep him in with the Padres getting blown out. Luis Torrens took Sanchez's place behind the plate in the seventh inning. Sanchez went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before exiting. Consider him day-to-day.
Apr 6 - 6:39 PM

Padres purchased the contract of C Hector Sanchez from Triple-A El Paso.

Sanchez hit .250/.279/.550 with three homers and seven RBI over 40 at-bats during Cactus League play. He'll likely serve as the primary backup behind starter Austin Hedges while Christian Bethancourt works out of the Padres' bullpen.
