Padres designated C Hector Sanchez for assignment.

Sanchez wasn't playing much and the Padres wanted to give utility man Ryan Schmipf a chance in the major leagues. The Padres claimed Sanchez off waivers from the White Sox last month. Teams are always looking for catchers so Sanchez shouldn't have much trouble finding a new team.

Padres claimed C Hector Sanchez off waivers from the White Sox.

Sanchez was designated for assignment on Monday. He managed one hit in seven at-bats prior to being cut loose. In 604 major league at-bats, the 26-year-old catcher holds a career triple-slash of .238/.273/.343. Even if he sees an extended run with the Padres, he does not make for much of a fantasy option.

White Sox designated C Hector Sanchez for assignment.

Sanchez went 1-for-7 in his short stay with the Pale Hose. He's only 26 years old and there's usually a need for catching depth somewhere around the league, so the native of Venezuela should latch on somewhere quickly.
May 9 - 1:10 PM

White Sox recalled C Hector Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte.

It's been a revolving door at catcher the last few days for Chicago with Alex Avila (hamstring) and Kevan Smith (back) both going down with injuries. Sanchez hasn't done much to warrant a promotion (.143 AVG this season) but he's the best the White Sox have right now aside from starter Dioner Navarro.
Apr 26 - 4:22 PM

White Sox reassigned C Hector Sanchez to minor league camp.

The White Sox are going with Alex Avila and Dioner Navarro at catcher. Sanchez hit .241 this spring with five RBI in 29 at-bats. He'll wait it out in Triple-A Charlotte until a spot opens up in Chicago.
Apr 2 - 7:21 PM

White Sox signed C Hector Sanchez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Sanchez served as the primary backup to Giants catcher Buster Posey from 2012-2015 before getting non-tendered in early December. He will now operate as organizational depth for the White Sox, who have a solid platoon in place between Alex Avila and Dioner Navarro.

Giants general manager Bobby Evans said Monday that the club is interested in bringing Hector Sanchez back.

They non-tendered Sanchez last week, but they'd be interested in having him back at a lesser rate. Sanchez hit only .179/.207/.304 with a homer and five RBI across 56 at-bats for the Giants in 2015.

Giants non-tendered C Hector Sanchez.

Sanchez was sidelined with leg injuries in September. When healthy, he hit .179/.207/.304 with a homer and five RBI across 56 at-bats. The 26-year-old backstop now enters the free agent pool. He's a backup catcher -- nothing more, nothing less.

Giants activated C Hector Sanchez from the 60-day disabled list.

He's been returned to the 40-man roster. Sanchez's season ended early with a strained hamstring and sprained ankle, but he'll be able to go through his normal winter routine.

Giants placed C Hector Sanchez on the 60-day disabled list with a strained hamstring and sprained ankle.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Cody Gearrin. It was thought that Sanchez's season was over, and now it's official.

Hector Sanchez is likely done for the season due to ankle and hamstring injuries.

Sanchez exited Saturday's game with an ankle injury but actually suffered the hamstring ailment first. He's undergone an MRI on both body parts and isn't expected back this month.

Hector Sanchez left Saturday's game with a sprained left ankle.

His X-rays came back negative. The Giants are dangerously thin at catcher now with Buster Posey banged up and Andrew Susac dealing with a wrist injury. Sanchez suffered the injury while running to first base.

Hector Sanchez left Saturday's game against the Rockies with a leg injury.

He stumbled running to first base and had to be helped off the field. Sanchez doubled and dropped down a sacrifice bunt in his only two plate appearances. Sanchez is likely headed for X-rays. We won't rush to judgment on what it could be, but it looked like a serious injury. Buster Posey took over for Sanchez behind the plate.
