Andrew Brown smacked a solo homer in Saturday's loss to the Pirates.

Brown, who was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas last weekend, made the start in left field Saturday. The home run was off left-hander Tony Watson in the ninth inning. The 28-year-old has posted some big numbers in the minors, particularly against southpaws, but it has yet to translate during sporadic at-bats at the major league level. The Mets are struggling to get any production out of their outfield, so the opportunity is there for the taking.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York was told by a team source that the Mets are calling up outfielder Andrew Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The corresponding roster move isn't yet known. Brown, 28, is hitting .367/.440/.622 with two homers, 27 RBI and a 1.062 OPS in 25 games with the 51s. He could see at-bats against left-handed pitching in right field.

Mets signed OF Andrew Brown to a minor league contract.

The deal includes a spring training invite. Brown has a .224/.284/.396 batting line over 57 games in the major leagues, but he has posted some huge numbers in the minors, particularly against lefties. The 28-year-old hits from the right side and plays the outfield, two huge areas of need for the Mets, so he could contend for a roster spot.

The Rockies needed to clear some 40-man roster space prior to the Rule 5 Draft. Brown batted .232/.302/.429 with five homers in his time with the Colorado this season.

He's taking the roster spot of Michael Cuddyer. Brown batted just .208 in 11 games earlier this year for the Rockies but has mashed at Triple-A to the tune of a .308/.364/.597 batting line with 24 homers and 98 RBI.

He was sent down in order to make room for Thursday's starter, Alex White, on the active roster. Brown is 5-for-24 (.208) in 11 games with the Rockies this season and should be back later this summer.

Batting cleanup in his first start for the Rockies, Andrew Brown went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Brown got the start in Michael Cuddyer's place today and made a case to get some additional playing time with Todd Helton out of the lineup. He may have a little short-term value in NL-only leagues.

Brown has batted .317/.372/.605 with 20 homers and 84 RBI this season for Colorado Springs. The 27-year-old will give the Rox some outfield depth but doesn't figure to play a whole lot.

The 27-year-old appeared in 11 games with at the major league level this season, but spent most of the year with Triple-A Memphis, batting .284/.382/.501 with 20 homers, 73 RBI and an .883 OPS over 428 plate appearances.

Brown was designated for assignment when Lance Lynn was activated from the 60-day disabled list over the weekend. The 27-year-old outfielder appeared in 11 games with the Cardinals this season, but spent most of the year with Triple-A Memphis, batting .284/.382/.501 with 20 homers, 73 RBI and an .883 OPS over 428 plate appearances. With his prospect days long behind him, he's likely a Quad-A bat.

The Cardinals needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster in order to have Lance Lynn available for the NLCS. Brown batted just .182/.182/.227 over 22 at-bats in his time with the Cardinals this season, but he hit .284/.382/.501 with 20 homers and 73 RBI over 359 at-bats at Triple-A. He has a good shot to clear waivers and remain in the organization.
