Anthony Bass earned his second save of the year Saturday in the Astros' 6-5 defeat of the Rangers.
The Astros first tried to lock up the victory with Kevin Chapman, but he allowed a game-tying home run to Michael Choice in the bottom of the ninth inning. Bass came on in the bottom of the 10th and was able to seal the deal. Houston is using a true committee at closer. Apr 12 - 11:41 PM

Anthony Bass got one out in relief of Josh Fields for his second career save Thursday against the Jays.

Bass made things harder on himself, throwing away a comebacker for what would have been the final out of the game and allowing a run to score. However, he got another grounder afterwards to end it with the game being 6-4. Bass was called on tonight in large part because Matt Albers was off on paternity leave. He's not much of a threat for future saves.

Anthony Bass pitched a couple of scoreless innings in relief Tuesday against the Marlins.

Bass has a 3.38 ERA and a 9/0 K/BB ratio in eight innings as he attempts to secure a spot in Houston's bullpen. It sounds like he will make the team, and he might even be a late-game option early on with no one else stepping up.

Bass, 26, owns a 4.08 ERA and 135/80 K/BB ratio over 187 1/3 innings in the majors. He has experience as both a starter and reliever, so he brings some flexibility to Houston's staff.

Padres reliever Anthony Bass was charged with four runs in his second inning of work Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Bass was ripped off tonight. The first hitter to reach against him did so on a strikeout/wild pitch. The second had a clean single, but Yadier Molina followed with a double-play ball, only Everth Cabrera vacated second base way too early on the relay and wasn't given credit for the out. With runners on second and third with one out, Bud Black had Bass intentionally walk Jon Jay, and Daniel Descalso followed with a grand slam. That was certainly a mistake for Bass, but he could have been out of the inning before then and he didn't deserve for his ERA to jump from 2.60 to 3.64 tonight.

Anthony Bass will start Tuesday against the Brewers.

He'll start in place of Casey Kelly, who has been shut down for the season. This will be Bass' first start since he went on the DL with a shoulder issue in June. He makes for a risky play in fantasy leagues.

Padres manager Bud Black won't rule out Anthony Bass getting a start before the end of the season.

Bass has appeared only in relief since being activated from the disabled list earlier this month, but his shoulder feels fine and he could be ready to stretch it out. He's posted a 4.82 ERA in 14 starts this season.

Anthony Bass, San Diego's fifth pitcher of the ninth inning, struck out the only Diamondback he faced Thursday to earn his first career save.

What better demonstration of the excess of September than the Padres using five relievers to protect a one-run lead in a completely meaningless game. Luke Gregerson started the ninth, but was pulled after giving up a leadoff single. After Joe Thatcher issued a walk, Nick Vincent, Tommy Layne and Bass all retired one batter apiece to end the 6-5 game.
