Anthony Bass was obliterated by the Dodgers in Friday's Cactus League start, allowing eight runs (six earned) on six hits and a walk in just 2/3 of an inning.
Two of the six hits left the yard in the form of home runs from Yasiel Puig and Matt Carson. Bass has been in the running for a spot at the back end of the Rangers starting rotation, though this rough outing is certain to hurt his chances. Mar 21 - 2:33 PM

Anthony Bass twirled a pair of scoreless innings Sunday as the Rangers defeated the Indians 8-7.

Bass doesn't have much of a chance to make the Rangers' 25-man roster, but he would serve as depth throughout the season. He was outrighted off the Astros' 40-man roster on in November after posting a 6.33 ERA in 27 innings during the season.

Rangers signed RHP Anthony Bass to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Bass elected to become a free agent after being outrighted off the Astros' 40-man roster late last month. The 27-year-old posted an ugly 6.33 ERA over 21 appearances at the major league level this past season. He'll provide some bullpen depth.

Anthony Bass (intercostal) is expected be activated from the disabled list on Thursday.

Bass got through a two-inning rehab appearance at Low-A Quad Cities on Sunday with no issues. The reliever has been out since May 11 with a right intercostal strain. "He had a good outing, and right now we feel like he's probably very close," Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "He's going to be down for a few days after pitching [Sunday] night. We'll probably make a decision either later today or [Tuesday] about exactly what to do with Bass, but we're encouraged by what we saw yesterday."

Astros assistant general manager David Stearns said Monday that he is hopeful Anthony Bass (intercostal) will be able to return before the All-Star break.

Bass has been out for a month with a right intercostal strain. He's not close to going out on a minor league rehab assignment, so the window is closing for him to join the Astros before the second half.

Anthony Bass earned his second save of the year Saturday in the Astros' 6-5 defeat of the Rangers.

The Astros first tried to lock up the victory with Kevin Chapman, but he allowed a game-tying home run to Michael Choice in the bottom of the ninth inning. Bass came on in the bottom of the 10th and was able to seal the deal. Houston is using a true committee at closer.

Anthony Bass got one out in relief of Josh Fields for his second career save Thursday against the Jays.

Bass made things harder on himself, throwing away a comebacker for what would have been the final out of the game and allowing a run to score. However, he got another grounder afterwards to end it with the game being 6-4. Bass was called on tonight in large part because Matt Albers was off on paternity leave. He's not much of a threat for future saves.
