Leyson Septimo - R - White Sox

Leyson Septimo (shoulder) has been assigned to Triple-A Charlotte to begin his rehab assignment.

Septimo hasn't pitched since March 7 due to a strained left shoulder. The 27-year-old lefty is out of minor league options, so the White Sox will have to find room for him on the major league roster once his rehab assignment is up, or risk exposing him to waivers. He posted a 5.02 ERA and 14/6 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings with the White Sox in 2012.

Septimo hasn't pitched since March 7 due to the injury. The 27-year-old left-hander is out of options this spring, so the injury conveniently delays a potential tough roster decision.

Septimo left Thursday's Cactus League game with an apparent arm injury, but the White Sox haven't elaborated on his condition. However, that he's slated to throw again on Monday means that it's probably not a major concern.

Leyson Septimo left Thursday's Cactus League appearance with an arm injury.

Septimo exited with the trainer with two outs in the ninth after serving up a two-run homer earlier in the inning. White Sox manager Robin Ventura said that the left-hander was complaining about his arm, but he didn't offer more than that. Consider him out indefinitely for now.

Septimo missed just over the minimum on the DL with a left biceps injury. He'll provide left-handed bullpen depth behind Phil Coke and Darin Downs.

White Sox placed LHP Leyson Septimo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 14, with left biceps inflammation.

It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. Septimo has been dominant at Triple-A this year but hasn't been able to find the same success in his short time with the Sox. He's replaced in the pen by Hector Santiago.

Septimo will fill the lefty specialist role left vacant by Will Ohman's departure. The 26-year-old Dominican was sporting a 1.48 ERA in 30 1/3 innings at Triple-A.

Leyson Septimo was knocked around yet again, this time for five runs in only one inning of work on Monday.

The perennial minor leaguer has looked pretty bad this spring, particularly over his last five appearances (13 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings). His overall ERA is 15.95 through 7 1/3 frames. It is safe to say that the Leyson Septimo experiment is over.

White Sox signed LHP Leyson Septimo to a minor league contract.

Septimo, 26, became a free agent after being outrighted off Chicago's 40-man roster last month. The hard-throwing left-hander posted an underwhelming 5.30 ERA and 60/41 K/BB ratio over 56 innings at the Double-A level this season between the White Sox and Diamondbacks organizations.

A former outfielder, Septimo put up less than impressive numbers at the Double-A level this season in the White Sox and Diamondbacks organizations. The 26-year-old doesn't look ready to contribute at the big league level.

White Sox claimed LHP Leyson Septimo off waivers from the Diamondbacks; optioned him to Double-A Birmingham.

Septimo, a former outfielder, has a 5.79 ERA over parts of four seasons in the minor leagues, averaging 10.0 K/9 and 8.1 BB/9. The 25-year-old southpaw had an ugly 6.37 ERA and 22/25 K/BB ratio over his first 29 2/3 innings with Double-A Mobile. The hard-thrower has pitched exclusively in relief over the past two seasons and looks nowhere close to making an impact in the majors.

It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. 	4	Gavin Floyd D.L. Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow. The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter. May 8
