Nationals third base prospect Matt Skole corked two homers Tuesday for Double-A Harrisburg.

Skole entered Tuesday's action with just one hit in his previous six games. He hadn't homered twice in a game since 2012 when he was playing for Low-A Hagerstown. Aside from the occasional burst of power, Skole has had a rather unproductive year, striking out 43 times in only 120 at-bats. The 25-year-old is entering his second full season in Double-A.

Nationals prospect Matt Skole, who missed most of the 2013 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, put on an impressive batting practice display on Sunday.

The Nats fifth-round selection from the 2011 draft, Skole slashed .291/.426/.559 with 27 homers and 104 RBI in 119 games between Class-A Hagerstown and High-A Potomac in 2012. It's unlikely that he makes an impact at the big league level in 2014, but is certainly a large part of the organization's future.

Nationals prospect Matt Skole underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Wednesday.

It was to his non-throwing arm, so Skole will only miss 3-4 months. The 23-year-old corner infielder was the Nationals' fifth-round pick in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft.

Nationals prospect Matt Skole has been placed on the 7-day minor league disabled list.

Skole suffered an injury to his left arm Friday. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined, but the 23-year-old should return to Double-A Harrisburg when healthy. Baseball America ranked Skole as the Nationals' No. 4 prospect prior to the season.
