A's recalled INF Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento.

Parrino will provide depth at multiple positions while the A's nurse a number of early-season injuries. He probably won't play enough to carry fantasy value.

The Athletics are expected to recall utility man Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

The A's are short-handed at the moment due to the injuries to Scott Sizemore (knee) and Josh Reddick (wrist), so Parrino will provide some bench depth. The 27-year-old batted .207/.316/.276 with one home run and six RBI in 55 games with the A's last season.

Athletics optioned INF Andy Parrino to Triple-A Sacramento.

Parrino batted just .207/.316/.276 with one home run and six RBI in 55 games last season for the A's. The 27-year-old infield will function as organizational depth.

Athletics assistant general manager David Forst said new acquisition Andy Parrino is "definitely in the mix" for the starting job at shortstop.

Ultimately, the A's figure to either re-sign Stephen Drew or bring someone else in. But, as it stands right now, Parrino would compete with Adam Rosales, Eric Sogard and perhaps others. Parrino is good with the glove but has batted just .200/.319/.256 over 79 big league games.

Athletics acquired INF/OF Andy Parrino from the Padres in the Tyson Ross deal.

Parrino has batted .200/.319/.256 over 79 games the past two years for the Padres. He's pretty slick with the glove, though, and is versatile, having played 26 games at shortstop, 15 at second base, two at third base and one in right field in 2012. He should be able to win a bench job with the A's.

Padres recalled INF Andy Parrino from Triple-A Tucson.

Parrino batted just .174 with a .526 OPS in 40 games earlier this season with the Friars. The 26-year-old will serve as emergency infield depth down the stretch.

Padres activated INF Andy Parrino from the 15-day disabled list.

He had been out since late May with a wrist ailment. Parrino will provide depth at multiple infield positions and should see fairly regular time at shortstop.

Andy Parrino (wrist) made his first rehab appearance Friday for Triple-A Tucson.

He started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 in his first game since May 31. It's not clear how close Parrino is to returning, but he figures to be in the mix for semi-regular starts with Everth Cabrera.

Padres placed INF Andy Parrino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 31, with an injured right hand.

It's not clear at this point how long he'll be out. Everth Cabrera will start at shortstop, with Alexi Amarista and Logan Forsythe, who replaces Parrino on the roster, splitting time at second.

The Padres are planning on placing Andy Parrino on the DL and activated Logan Forsythe prior to Sunday's game.

According to Friarhood, Parrino injured his foot after Saturday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He had been playing plenty of shortstop lately, but now Everth Cabrera will start there, with Alexi Amarista and Forsythe splitting time at second.

Andy Parrino claimed one of the Padres' three final Opening Day roster spots on Tuesday.

With five homers and a .212/.278/.455 batting line, Parrino did enough to earn the utility infielder role. Micah Owings and Jeremy Hermida landed the other two roster spots. Owings had a very disappointing spring, and will look to build on last season's decent rebound effort. Hermida hit a solid .313 with four home runs, but his primary role will be as a backup outfielder while Mark Kotsay is on the mend.

Andy Parrino launched his second homer in as many games on Wednesday, finishing 3-for-5 against the White Sox.

Parrino has received a long look this spring. After a sluggish period that saw his batting average drop to .184, he now sports a slightly more respectable .228/.302/.456 triple slash. With four long balls and a couple of steals, don't be surprised if he meets the Padres' utility infielder needs on Opening Day.

Padres purchased the contract of INF Andy Parrino from Triple-A Tucson.

He'll take the place of James Darnell, who was sent back down to the minors following Wednesday's game. Parrino, 25, is a .264/.368/.398 career hitter in the minor leagues, but batted .315/.393/.511 with 12 homers, 56 RBI and a .905 OPS over 357 plate appearances between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson this season. He'll mostly function as a backup at second base and shortstop and is unlikely to have much in the way of fantasy value.
