The Braves are still waiting for outfielder Jose Constanza to arrive at spring training in Florida.

Constanza is trying to settle an issue with his work visa and will be stuck in the Dominican Republic until that's all figured out. The 29-year-old is suddenly looking like a longshot to crack the Braves' Opening Day roster.

Jose Constanza has not arrived at Braves camp yet because he is settling an issue with his work visa.

The Braves are hoping that he will be cleared to travel to Florida on Friday. Constanza, 29, batted .250/.321/.276 in 86 plate appearances with the Braves last season. He'll be in the running for a bench spot this spring.

Jose Constanza went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.

Both knocks were singles for Constanza, who has just one extra-base hit in 21 plate appearances since rejoining the Braves on September 1. Although he was a favorite of manager Fredi Gonzalez in 2011, Constanza will again struggle for a roster spot in 2013.

The 28-year-old has shuttled between Atlanta and Gwinnett all season. This time he's been demoted to make room for Reed Johnson. Constanza may not be back until September, barring an injury.

Jose Constanza, getting the start in left field, went 2-for-3 in a losing effort against the Nationals on Saturday.

Constanza had the Braves only extra base hit in the game with his double, and is now hitting .462 (6-for-13) in his brief time with the club. He's still viewed as nothing more than a backup outfielder at this point, so he has no value in fantasy leagues.

He'll replace Kris Medlen on the active roster. Constanza was hitting .288/.363/.381 with 15 RBI, eight stolen bases and a .744 OPS over 160 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. We can't wait until Fredi Gonzalez puts him in the lineup over Jason Heyward.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Wednesday that Jose Constanza "fits" as a potential fifth outfielder.

Under this scenario, the Braves would go with a bench of Constanza, Eric Hinske, Matt Diaz, Jack Wilson and David Ross. Constanza, 28, predictably cooled down following a hot start last year, but batted .303/.339/.385 with two homers, 10 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .724 OPS over 119 plate appearances.

Jose Constanza went 2-for-4 with his 10th RBI in Atlanta's win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

The two-hit day was just Constanza's third in nine starts. No longer the "hot hand," he shouldn't be owned in mixed leagues.

The Braves could manage to just two hits as Chris Capuano struck out 13 in a dazzling shutout victory. As for Constanza, he's now just four for his past 23 (.174). His regression to the mean has very much begun.
