Orioles signed OF Alex Castellanos to a minor league contract.
Castellanos, 30, played for the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate last season while batting .299/.364/.482 with six home runs and 25 RBI over 49 games. He hasn't appeared in the majors since 2013 and that's unlikely to change this year unless there are a rash of injuries in the Orioles' outfield. Tue, Jan 24, 2017 12:56:00 PM

Rockies signed OF Alex Castellanos to a minor league contract.

Castellanos hit well last summer at Triple-A Las Vegas (affiliate of the Mets) and then parlayed that into a nice deal with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan, but he did not perform up to expectations in his short stint as a Nippon Professional Baseball player. The 29-year-old remains in minor league limbo. Maybe he'll get a shot in Colorado if the Rockies start dealing outfielders.

Mets reassigned INF/OF Alex Castellanos and RHP Chase Bradford to minor league camp.

The 28-year-old was in camp competing for a spot on the Mets bench, but struggled to the tune of .222/.263/.472 with one homer, four RBI and a 12/1 K/BB ratio in 36 at-bats. He'll function as organizational depth at Triple-A for the time being.

Alex Castellanos is day-to-day with a bruised right foot.

The outfielder left Saturday's Grapefruit League game after rolling his ankle in a collision at first base. It doesn't seem to be serious, and it likely won't cost him too much time. The non-roster invite likely won't break camp with the club regardless.

Alex Castellanos was forced to leave Saturday's Grapefruit League game with an apparent injury.

Castellanos was involved in a collision at first base as he reached into the runner's path on an errant throw from the catcher. It appeared to have been an issue with his right ankle, but the Mets should provide an update on his status shortly.

Alex Castellanos said Saturday that X-rays on his injured finger came back negative.

Castellanos was drilled in the right hand by a pitch during Friday's Grapefruit League contest against the Tigers. He's fortunate to have avoided any fractures and should be able to return to the Mets lineup in a day or two.

Alex Castellanos smacked his first home run of the Cactus League season in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

He got the start at third base in this one, and with injuries to Chase Headley and Cameron Maybin this spring, Castellanos has a legitimate shot at making the Padres in a utility role.

Padres claimed OF Alex Castellanos off waivers from the Rangers.

Castellanos has landed in his fourth organization since October. With Cameron Maybin (biceps) slated to begin the season on the disabled list, Castellanos should have a shot to crack the Opening Day roster.
