Dodgers placed RHP Stephen Fife on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder bursitis.

The move is retroactive to April 22. Fife allowed four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings last Sunday in a start against the Orioles. It is unknown how long he will be out.
Apr 27 - 4:24 PM

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly indicated Friday that he won't use the team's upcoming off-day on Thursday to skip Stephen Fife in the rotation.

Instead, he'll utilize the extra day to give the rest of the staff an extra day of rest. Though he won't be skipped, Fife's days in the rotation still appear to be numbered, as Chris Capuano is progressing rapidly in his recovery and could displace Fife after his start on May 3.

Dodgers recalled RHP Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Fife was promoted to take the rotation spot of Chad Billingsley, who went on the disabled list with right elbow pain. Fife hasn't exactly been great at Triple-A, which speaks to the Dodgers' desperation on the starting pitching front. The right-hander will take the hill Sunday afternoon against the Orioles.
Apr 21 - 10:10 AM

Stephen Fife pitched well in a losing effort against the Reds on Saturday afternoon, allowing two runs on five hits over his five innings of work.

Fife punched out four while walking two in the game. Jay Bruce smashed a solo homer off him in the fourth inning, and Todd Frazier added an RBI single in the fifth. He’s done a nice job as a spot starter this season, posting a 2.70 ERA and 20/12 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings. If Clayton Kershaw is able to return to the rotation on Sunday, it would likely shift Fife to a long-relief role in the bullpen.

Stephen Fife turned in a successful spot start Sunday, allowing two runs in five innings and striking out nine against the Cardinals.

The Dodgers are thinking to going to a four-man rotation if Clayton Kershaw can't return, but Fife is looking like a pretty good option as a fifth starter. He seems at least as trustworthy as Joe Blanton at the moment.

Dodgers recalled RHP Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Fife posted a cool 2.16 ERA in 16 2/3 innings (three starts) with Los Angeles earlier this season. He will operate as a long reliever over the next three weeks.

Dodgers optioned RHP Stephen Fife to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Fife was sent back down to make room for the recently-acquired Joe Blanton. The 25-year-old right-hander has compiled a 2.16 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 7/9 K/BB ratio in 16 2/3 innings (three starts) with the Dodgers this season, and is likely to return to the team the next time they require an additional starter.

Stephen Fife did a great job in his spot start Friday, limiting the Giants to one run in 6 1/3 innings.

The Dodgers were trying to figure out a starter for tonight's game all week, but it looks like they chose correctly. Fife outpitched Matt Cain and left with a two-run lead, only to settle for a no-decision after the Giants tied it in the eighth.

Dodgers recalled RHP Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque.

He'll get the start Friday in place of the departed Nathan Eovaldi. Fife has a nice matchup against the Giants, but he shouldn't be trusted in fantasy leagues going up against Matt Cain.

Stephen Fife is likely to be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Friday against the Giants.

He would take the rotation spot of Nathan Eovaldi, who was dealt to the Marlins this week in the Hanley Ramirez trade. Fife was sent down to the minors less than 10 days ago, so he's ineligible to return unless he is replacing an injured player. The Dodgers are currently considering placing Scott Elbert (shoulder) on the disabled list, which would pave the way for Fife to start. The 25-year-old right-hander tossed five innings of one-run ball against the Phillies in his major league debut back on July 17.

Dodgers optioned RHP Stephen Fife to Triple-A Albuquerque.

He was sent down to make room for Javy Guerra's return from the bereavement list. Fife hurled six innings of one-run ball Tuesday night against the Phillies in his major league debut. He'll return to a 4.53 ERA at the Triple-A level.

In his first major league start, Stephen Fife hurled six innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against the Phillies.

The Boise, Idaho native scattered four hits and walked three while striking out just one. The 25-year-old right-hander registered an ugly 4.53 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 97 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level and shouldn't be trusted in fantasy leagues, despite his impressive debut.

Dodgers recalled RHP Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Fife has registered an ugly 4.53 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 97 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. The right-hander seems likely to struggle in the majors.

Dodgers purchased the contract of RHP Stephen Fife from Double-A Chattanooga.

The move makes the 25-year-old right-hander off-limits for December's Rule 5 Draft. Fife, who was acquired in July's three-team trade with the Red Sox and Mariners, posted a 3.74 ERA and 95/52 K/BB ratio over 137 innings as a starter this season at the Double-A level.
