Stephen Vogt had a solo homer and an RBI on an HBP against the Mariners on Monday night.
That'll do. The homer off Taijuan Walker in the seventh accounted for the first run of the game for either team, and the HBP in the eighth helped add to Oakland's cushion. Vogt is hitting .252 with four homers this year. May 24 - 1:02 AM

Stephen Vogt (wrist) hopes to return to the lineup Sunday.

Vogt was unavailable Saturday after getting hit in the wrist with a pitch Friday, but it sounds like he'll be fine. The catcher sports a .250/.284/.371 batting line with three homers this season.
May 22 - 9:39 AM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Saturday.

Given that it's a day game after a night game and Vogt has been a bit hobbled as of late, it's a good time to give him a rest. Matt McBride will work behind the dish for the A's and bat eighth against Masahiro Tanaka and the Yankees.
May 21 - 12:29 PM

Stephen Vogt (thumb) is out of Monday's lineup against the Rangers.

Vogt took a pitch off his left thumb when he tried to stop a wild pitch on Sunday. X-rays came back negative and he's considered day-to-day. Josh Phegley (knee) is out again Monday, so Matt McBride is starting behind the plate.
May 16 - 5:41 PM

Stephen Vogt is considered day-to-day after X-rays on his thumb came back negative on Sunday.

He received a pitch behind the plate that caught him in the left thumb, but the pain wasn't enough for him to come out of the game Sunday. If anything, he may see a day of rest as a precaution, but it shouldn't necessitate a trip to the disabled list.
May 15 - 5:15 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.

Being a day game after a night game, Vogt will take a seat and allow Josh Phegley to work behind the plate. Phegley will bat eighth against opposing right-hander Chris Devenski on Saturday.
Apr 30 - 12:39 PM

Stephen Vogt homered in his second straight game Saturday against the Royals.

Vogt hit a solo shot off Royals reliever Dillon Gee in the seventh inning. He finished 2-for-4 and is 5-for-9 with two homers in the series. The catcher is batting .297/.333/.514 through his first 11 games.
Apr 16 - 9:20 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the A's lineup Tuesday night against the White Sox.

Josh Phegley will start behind the plate and bat seventh against White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana. Vogt isn't going to face many tough lefties this season.
Apr 5 - 5:36 PM

Stephen Vogt (elbow) admitted Tuesday that that his throwing is "not where I want it to be."

Vogt has been eased into things this spring after surgery in January to remove a bone chip from his right elbow. While his throwing is not 100 percent yet, he said it's "getting better and better" and he's been allowed to catch in back-to-back games. Vogt's workload shouldn't be affected at the start of the season.
Mar 22 - 9:21 PM

Stephen Vogt (elbow) will throw to the bases again on Saturday.

As long as everything goes well, he'll make his Cactus League debut behind the plate at some point next week. The 31-year-old is off to a strong start at the dish this spring, going 5-for-9 (.556) with a pair of homers and five RBI.
Mar 12 - 10:45 AM

Stephen Vogt had a pair of home runs in Monday's Cactus League win over the Royals.

The Royals had a split squad and didn't bring many quality arms with them, as Vogt's longballs came off of Sam Selman and Christian Binford. Still, the A's catcher will take it. Vogt started in the designated hitter spot again Monday. He's being eased in behind the plate following offseason elbow surgery.
Mar 7 - 7:59 PM

Stephen Vogt (elbow) is expected to DH in a split-squad game Friday.

Vogt was a little behind the other position players in A's camp when he arrived following January surgery to remove a bone chip from his right elbow, but he is almost completely caught up. Vogt should be 100 percent for the opening of the 2016 regular season. He posted a cool .783 OPS with 18 home runs and 71 RBI in 136 games last year.
Mar 3 - 11:15 AM

Stephen Vogt (elbow) has progressed to taking live batting practice.

Vogt had surgery in late January to remove a bone chip from a joint in his right elbow, so the Athletics are taking things slow with him in the early part of spring training. He's on track for the second week of the Cactus League schedule.
Mar 1 - 12:07 PM

The Athletics don't want to rush Stephen Vogt (elbow) back into action.

Vogt is less than one month removed from surgery to remove a bone chip from a joint in his right elbow, but he's already taking swings off a tee and underhand tosses. "I don't want to rush either," said Vogt. "I'd like to accelerate, though." The expectation is that he'll be fine for Opening Day.
Feb 24 - 2:21 PM

Stephen Vogt (elbow) took 40 swings off a tee on Monday.

Vogt's recovery from minor elbow surgery is moving rapidly. He started taking dry swings last week and has already advanced to hitting off a tee. Vogt should't have any restrictions when the regular season opens on April 4.
