Stephen Vogt's two-run homer propelled Oakland to a 3-0 win over Minnesota on Thursday.
Vogt took Twins starter Yohan Pino over the right field fence in the second inning, giving the Athletics a lead they'd never relinquish. It was his only hit of the night. Vogt was one of the hottest hitters in the bigs between his recall on June 1 and late July, but he entered tonight in a deep 0-for-23 slump. He'll continue to draw starts against right-handers, but must produce to guarantee those at-bats going forward. Aug 8 - 12:56 AM

Stephen Vogt collected his fifth homer and eighth double against the Astros on Monday.

Vogt hasn't played much against lefties, but that may change now after his strong game against Brett Oberholtzer tonight. He's hitting .375 with just seven strikeouts in 80 at-bats this month and .361 in 148 at-bats overall.
Jul 28 - 11:47 PM

Stephen Vogt reached base four times in five plate appearances as the Athletics battered the Orioles in a 10-2 win on Sunday.

Vogt has been quite productive for the Athletics since joining the club at the start of June. He had another great day on Sunday, doubling in a run in the fifth, and had two singles and a walk for good measure. The 29-year-old owns a .364/.397/.534 slash line with four home runs and 18 RBI in 126 plate appearances.
Jul 20 - 8:10 PM

Stephen Vogt had another nice game Friday, going 2-for-3 with a homer against the Mariners.

Vogt has hit in 11 straight and delivered two hits in five of his last six games. He's looking like a nice stopgap for those mixed leaguers who lost Yadier Molina.
Jul 12 - 12:58 AM

Stephen Vogt had two hits and three RBI versus the Giants on Thursday.

Vogt isn't doing a whole lot of catching, but he is playing regularly of late, giving him value as a second catcher in mixed leagues. He's 16-for-35 (.457) in his last 10 games.
Jul 10 - 6:59 PM

Stephen Vogt had three hits and his first career steal against the Tigers on Monday.

As part of the Athletics' three-heading catching monster, Vogt is batting .343 in 67 at-bats since his callup on June 1. He was originally going to play right field tonight, but he ended up at first base instead, as the A's decided that Brandon Moss would fit better in Comerica's big outfield.
Jun 30 - 11:37 PM

Stephen Vogt hit his first home run of the season Wednesday to help propel the Athletics to a 7-1 win over the Angels.

Vogt jumped all over a high 2-2 fastball from Jered Weaver in the sixth inning and deposited it over the right field wall to put the A's up 4-1 and end Weaver's night. Vogt has gotten some run in the corner outfield in recent days, but he drew the start behind the dish tonight. The 29-year-old Vogt, who made his season debut on the first day of this month, has gone 9-for-29 (.310).
Jun 12 - 1:34 AM

Stephen Vogt delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the 11th inning on Friday, leading the Athletics to a 4-3 win over the Orioles in Baltimore.

Vogt has made the most of his opportunities early on since being recalled from Triple-A, going 4-for-10 with a pair of RBI. He’ll continued to be used as a utility option for the A’s, and could have fantasy value as a second catcher in deeper mixed leagues.
Jun 6 - 10:54 PM

Stephen Vogt is starting in right field for the Athletics on Thursday afternoon against the Yankees.

Vogt hasn't played the outfield in the majors since 2012 and made just one appearance there at Triple-A Sacramento this year. "Obviously, I feel more comfortable behind the plate, but I’m comfortable in the outfield," the catcher said Thursday morning. "It should be fun." The short right field porch at Yankee Stadium should help.
Jun 5 - 11:59 AM

Athletics recalled C Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Sacramento.

Vogt gets the call after mashing Triple-A pitching with a .364/.412/.602 batting line, three homers and 19 RBI over 21 contests. He'll serve as a third catcher but can also play some outfield and could see time in the DH spot.
Jun 1 - 1:31 PM

Stephen Vogt (oblique) has been activated with Triple-A Sacramento.

Vogt suffered an oblique strain about a month ago, but he's back to 100 percent. The 29-year-old will continue to serve as catching depth in the minors for now, but he could be a potential trade target for a team like the Orioles.
May 12 - 4:45 PM

Stephen Vogt suffered an oblique strain Wednesday night in a game at Triple-A Sacramento.

Vogt will likely be on the shelf for 2-3 weeks. He was off to a 5-for-20 start this year at the Triple-A level.
Apr 10 - 11:41 AM

Athletics optioned C Stephen Vogt to Triple-A Sacramento.

Vogt had a terrific spring but was up against a roster crunch, with John Jaso and Derek Norris to serve as the team's primary catching options. The 29-year-old may be a trade target for a team looking for a catcher.
Mar 29 - 6:02 PM

Stephen Vogt went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI against the Mariners on Saturday.

The home runs gave Vogt three on the spring to go with a .395 batting average. Even with his strong Cactus League showing, there's a good chance Vogt finds himself at Triple-A Sacramento to start the year, as Derek Norris looks locked in as the starter and John Jaso is capable of backing up. It'll be one of the tougher decisions for manager Bob Melvin when cuts are made.
Mar 23 - 12:00 AM

Stephen Vogt blasted a three-run homer on Saturday, leading the Athletics in an 8-1 rout over the Giants in Cactus League play.

Vogt's three-run shot in the third inning put the final nail in Matt Cain's start. He finished the afternoon 1-for-2 plus a walk, with two runs scored and three RBI. He has punished the ball this spring, hitting .462 (12-for-26) with four extra-base hits and eight RBI. He should be a lock to make the Opening Day roster, and could see time at designated hitter as well as behind the dish.
