Stephen Vogt (ankle) took batting practice Tuesday.
It came after he did some running Monday, though he's yet to be cleared to run the bases. He's encouraged by how his sprained left ankle has responded and could be available to pinch-hit in a few days. Sep 16 - 6:36 PM

Stephen Vogt (ankle) is unlikely to be ready to return for Tuesday's series opener against the Rangers.

Vogt has been able to take swings in the batting cages in recent days, but is still bothered too much by his sore ankle to run the bases at full strength. Even if he does return at some point next week, he is likely to play only sporadically which makes it difficult to trust him in weekly formats.
Sep 14 - 10:07 PM

Stephen Vogt (ankle) might be available at some point during the Athletics' September 16-24 homestand.

Vogt took some swings in the batting cage Wednesday but is still bothered by a sprained left ankle. He hasn't played since September 3 and can't be counted on for the rest of the season. "It was a pretty significant sprain," manager Bob Melvin said.
Sep 12 - 10:00 AM

Stephen Vogt (ankle) will not play in any of the team's three games against the Astros over the weekend.

Vogt is considered day-to-day with his sprained left ankle, but it appears as though it's a bit more serious than initially anticipated. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect him back until sometime next week.
Sep 5 - 7:05 PM

Stephen Vogt (ankle) is day-to-day with a sprained left ankle.

X-rays on the ankle came back negative, and Vogt said he was just sore after the game. Vogt said he hoped to be back in the lineup in a few days. Craig Gentry replaced him in the lineup Wednesday, but it's unclear how playing time will shake out with so many moving parts on the A's roster.
Sep 3 - 6:51 PM

Stephen Vogt left Wednesday's game against the Mariners with a sprained left ankle.

Vogt came up limping after a slide and now we know why. He's also dealt with a right foot issue recently. It's not clear at this point how long he might be out.
Sep 3 - 5:35 PM

Stephen Vogt singled and finished 1-for-2 in the A's 6-1 win over the Mariners on Monday.

Vogt's been struggling mightily as of late, as he was just two for his last twenty-two. Anything that might get him going, even if it's just a single and a few walks, would count as welcome relief. After posting a red-hot June and July, Vogt entered a polar vortex in August and hit just .212/.247/.376 for the month. On the year, his lines still look pretty thanks to the blazing start. He's slashing .301/.333/.475 in 2014.
Sep 1 - 7:17 PM

Stephen Vogt's two-run homer propelled Oakland to a 3-0 win over Minnesota on Thursday.

Vogt took Twins starter Yohan Pino over the right field fence in the second inning, giving the Athletics a lead they'd never relinquish. It was his only hit of the night. Vogt was one of the hottest hitters in the bigs between his recall on June 1 and late July, but he entered tonight in a deep 0-for-23 slump. He'll continue to draw starts against right-handers, but must produce to guarantee those at-bats going forward.
Aug 8 - 12:56 AM

Stephen Vogt collected his fifth homer and eighth double against the Astros on Monday.

Vogt hasn't played much against lefties, but that may change now after his strong game against Brett Oberholtzer tonight. He's hitting .375 with just seven strikeouts in 80 at-bats this month and .361 in 148 at-bats overall.
Jul 28 - 11:47 PM

Stephen Vogt reached base four times in five plate appearances as the Athletics battered the Orioles in a 10-2 win on Sunday.

Vogt has been quite productive for the Athletics since joining the club at the start of June. He had another great day on Sunday, doubling in a run in the fifth, and had two singles and a walk for good measure. The 29-year-old owns a .364/.397/.534 slash line with four home runs and 18 RBI in 126 plate appearances.
Jul 20 - 8:10 PM

Stephen Vogt had another nice game Friday, going 2-for-3 with a homer against the Mariners.

Vogt has hit in 11 straight and delivered two hits in five of his last six games. He's looking like a nice stopgap for those mixed leaguers who lost Yadier Molina.
Jul 12 - 12:58 AM

Stephen Vogt had two hits and three RBI versus the Giants on Thursday.

Vogt isn't doing a whole lot of catching, but he is playing regularly of late, giving him value as a second catcher in mixed leagues. He's 16-for-35 (.457) in his last 10 games.
Jul 10 - 6:59 PM

Stephen Vogt had three hits and his first career steal against the Tigers on Monday.

As part of the Athletics' three-heading catching monster, Vogt is batting .343 in 67 at-bats since his callup on June 1. He was originally going to play right field tonight, but he ended up at first base instead, as the A's decided that Brandon Moss would fit better in Comerica's big outfield.
Jun 30 - 11:37 PM

Stephen Vogt hit his first home run of the season Wednesday to help propel the Athletics to a 7-1 win over the Angels.

Vogt jumped all over a high 2-2 fastball from Jered Weaver in the sixth inning and deposited it over the right field wall to put the A's up 4-1 and end Weaver's night. Vogt has gotten some run in the corner outfield in recent days, but he drew the start behind the dish tonight. The 29-year-old Vogt, who made his season debut on the first day of this month, has gone 9-for-29 (.310).
Jun 12 - 1:34 AM

Stephen Vogt delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the 11th inning on Friday, leading the Athletics to a 4-3 win over the Orioles in Baltimore.

Vogt has made the most of his opportunities early on since being recalled from Triple-A, going 4-for-10 with a pair of RBI. He’ll continued to be used as a utility option for the A’s, and could have fantasy value as a second catcher in deeper mixed leagues.
