Athletics acquired INF/OF Stephen Vogt from the Rays for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Vogt's biggest asset is his ability to play multiple positions, including catcher, so he should fit in very well as a bench piece in Bob Melvin's offense. He'll still hold little-to-no value in most fantasy leagues however. Apr 5 - 7:06 PM

Vogt is a career .299/.360/.448 hitter in the minors and can play a variety of positions, so he might draw some interest on waivers.

Rays optioned C Stephen Vogt to Triple-A Durham.

Vogt was one of a host of competitors for the Rays' backup catcher job, but he receives the boot despite batting .296 with a homer this spring. Also able to play first base and the corner outfield spots, he should get a shot with the big club at some point in 2013.

The Rays are expected to recall utility man Stephen Vogt and right-hander Dane De La Rosa from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

The Rays could also call up right-hander Chris Archer. Vogt will function as a utility man while De La Rosa will pitch in middle relief. Neither figure to carry any fantasy value.

Rays optioned INF/OF Stephen Vogt to Triple-A Durham.

He was sent down to make room for Hideki Matsui on the active roster. Vogt is 0-for-17 in two stints at the major league level this season.

Rays recalled INF/OF Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Durham.

Vogt will be available for Monday's game against the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old was hitless in 13 at-bats with the big club earlier this year. He'll likely be used as a left-handed bat off the bench and carries little in the way of fantasy value.

Stephen Vogt went 0-for-4 as Tampa Bay's DH on Friday and is 0-for-12 since being called up.

Vogt will head back to Triple-A once B.J. Upton is ready to come off the disabled list. He's running out of time to make a positive impression.

Stephen Vogt will serve as the Rays' designated hitter for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Luke Scott remains out of the lineup with a hamstring injury, so Vogt will make his first start of the season. The 27-year-old is 0-for-4 with a strikeout thus far.

Stephen Vogt went 3-for-3 with a two-run triple Wednesday in the Rays' 4-0 win over the Yankees.

Vogt is off to a 6-for-11 start this spring, and it will be interesting to see if he can work his way into the catcher competition for the Rays. He was added to the 40-man roster after last season, but he's not a pure catcher, having played more left field than anything else during his minor league career. He was expected to continue working on his catching in Triple-A at the beginning of the year.

Rays purchased the contract of C Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Durham.

Vogt, 27, batted .298/.335/.494 with 17 homers, 105 RBI and an .829 OPS over 558 plate appearances this season between Double- and Triple-A. He's a little old to be considered a prospect, but he does have experience at first base and in the corner outfield positions. It's possible the Rays think he could develop as a utility man.
