Athletics activated C/1B Stephen Vogt from the family medical leave list.
Vogt has been away from the team since Saturday. The A's optioned Matt McBride to Triple-A Nashville to clear a spot for his return. Daily Slant: Vogt will step into a great match-up in his first game back, taking on Nick Martinez in a very hitter friendly environment. The A's backstop owns a .349 wOBA, .193 ISO and 32.3 hard% against RHP on the road, while Martinez has allowed a .464 wOBA to LH bats in a limited sample size this season. Martinez is not a capable big league arm and he should struggle against a disciplined A's lineup, making them one of the stronger team stacks of the night. Jul 26 - 1:51 PM

Stephen Vogt is expected to rejoin the Athletics on Tuesday.

Vogt was placed on the family medical leave list on Saturday, but he's back with the team Monday and will officially be activated on Tuesday.
Jul 25 - 6:05 PM

Athletics placed C/1B Stephen Vogt on the family emergency medical leave list.

Vogt has a family matter that he needs to tend to for a couple of days, so the Athletics brought up Bruce Maxwell from Triple-A to help handle the load behind the plate.
Jul 23 - 3:06 PM

Stephen Vogt went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Maybe Vogt will have a little chip on his shoulder after getting selected for the All-Star Game as Oakland's only rep and then being held out of the game by Ned Yost. It's just the second time this year that he's knocked in three runs in a game.
Jul 16 - 1:47 AM

Stephen Vogt went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored as the Athletics edged the Astros 3-2 on Saturday.

Vogt provided most of the A's offense on the day, hitting a solo dong in second inning and adding an RBI single in the third. The home run was his seventh of the year, giving him 27 RBI and 30 runs scored. The 31-year-old is hitting a respectable .277/.320/.442 overall.
Jul 9 - 11:07 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics' lineup Sunday.

It's a routine day of rest. Matt McBride is catching. The A's also have Tyler Ladendorf at second base in place of Jed Lowrie.

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.

He'll get a breather against opposing southpaw Jeff Locke. Josh Phegley will start behind the dish for the A's and bat eight on Friday.
Jul 1 - 6:42 PM

Stephen Vogt went 3-for-5 and hit his sixth homer Friday against the Angels.

Vogt is hitting .286 with two homers, a triple and five doubles in 56 at-bats this month. Unfortunately, all that has been good for is just four RBI and five runs scored. That's what playing for the A's gets you.
Jun 25 - 1:53 AM

Stephen Vogt is not in Monday's lineup for the series opener against the Rangers.

He'll sit for the second straight day with another left-hander, this time Cesar Ramos, on the mound. Josh Phegley will start behind the plate and catch Sean Manaea.
Jun 13 - 5:48 PM

Stephen Vogt went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth home run of the season on Friday night in Cincinnati.

Vogt went deep off Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani in the third inning to give the Athletics an early lead. Vogt has been serving as his team's three hole hitter lately, a strong sign of why Oakland has one of the lowest-scoring lineups in the American League. His .731 OPS is not bad at all, but having a league average hitter as the number three in the batting order means the rest of the lineup must not be very strong. Given the weak state of the catcher position league-wide, Vogt is one of the better catchers to own in fantasy leagues.
Jun 10 - 10:08 PM

Stephen Vogt is out of the A's lineup Wednesday.

Josh Phegley will take a turn at catcher versus the Twins. He's batting sixth against lefty Pat Dean.
Jun 1 - 1:09 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Being an afternoon game after a night game, Vogt will take a seat in favor of Josh Phegley who was activated from the disabled list on Friday. Look for Vogt to be back behind the dish for Sunday's series finale.
May 28 - 1:16 PM

Stephen Vogt had a solo homer and an RBI on an HBP against the Mariners on Monday night.

That'll do. The homer off Taijuan Walker in the seventh accounted for the first run of the game for either team, and the HBP in the eighth helped add to Oakland's cushion. Vogt is hitting .252 with four homers this year.
May 24 - 1:02 AM

Stephen Vogt (wrist) hopes to return to the lineup Sunday.

Vogt was unavailable Saturday after getting hit in the wrist with a pitch Friday, but it sounds like he'll be fine. The catcher sports a .250/.284/.371 batting line with three homers this season.
May 22 - 9:39 AM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Saturday.

Given that it's a day game after a night game and Vogt has been a bit hobbled as of late, it's a good time to give him a rest. Matt McBride will work behind the dish for the A's and bat eighth against Masahiro Tanaka and the Yankees.
