Stephen Vogt delivered the first multi-homer game of his career in Friday's loss to the Royals.

He'd later tag Guthrie again in the seventh for another solo shot, once again bringing the A's even at 4-4. He finished the career night 3-for-4 and is now hitting an impressive .353/.421/.735 with eight RBI in his first season as the A's full-time starting catcher.

Apr 14 - 4:50 PM

Stephen Vogt turned his left ankle during Monday's game.

He finished the game but was noticeably hobbled. It doesn't sound like a huge deal, but Vogt will be re-evaluated on Tuesday and could wind up missing a game or two. For what it's worth, Vogt says he'll be fine.
Apr 13 - 11:27 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Saturday.

As it's an afternoon game after a night game, manager Bob Melvin thought it wise to get his backstop a day of rest. Josh Phegley will start behind the dish and bat seventh for the A's against J.A. Happ and the Mariners.
Apr 11 - 12:42 PM

Stephen Vogt doubled and swatted a three-run home run in his four plate appearances in Monday's Opening Day win against the Rangers.

Vogt doubled and scored in the fourth inning, then put the game away in the seventh with a three-run home run to push the Athletics' lead to 7-0 at the time. Vogt hit well enough in 287 plate appearances last year -- .279/.321/.431 -- that the A's felt comfortable enough trading away Derek Norris to make Vogt the full-time catcher.
Apr 7 - 1:06 AM

Stephen Vogt had a monster day at the plate on Tuesday as the Athletics routed the Cubs 14-2 in Cactus League play, going 3-for-3 with his first spring home run.

Vogt blasted a two-run homer off Edwin Jackson in the third inning and tacked on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. The three-hit effort raised his spring average from .105 all the way to .227. He's being relied upon to function as the A's primary backstop this season and looks to be a solid value in the mid rounds of fantasy drafts.
Mar 24 - 9:31 PM

Stephen Vogt went 0-for-2 with a walk in Wednesday's Cactus League match-up with the Mariners.

Vogt was behind the dish again after taking Tuesday off. he had foot surgery in October and was recently cleared to catch. He is now batting .071 (1-for-14) on the spring. The A's will be relying on Vogt with Derek Norris out of the picture and expect him to be ready by Opening Day.
Mar 18 - 6:41 PM

Stephen Vogt (foot) will catch five innings on Wednesday.

Vogt underwent surgery in October to repair the plantar plates in his right foot, but he caught three innings on Monday and felt good. He appears on track for the start of the season, where he should be the A's primary catcher.
Mar 10 - 12:57 PM

Stephen Vogt (foot) has been cleared to catch, A's manager Bob Melvin said Saturday.

Vogt will get the start behind the dish in Monday's Cactus League game. Vogt hasn't caught a game since July 7 of last season because of the foot, which he had surgically repaired in October. The club will surely take it easy in the early going with Vogt, but it's great news that he's progressed to the point that he can play the field.
Mar 7 - 9:25 PM

Stephen Vogt (foot) will run the bases Friday or Saturday.

If that goes well, Vogt will get some at-bats at designated hitter in some Cactus League games soon. His rehab from foot surgery is going well, as Vogt is on track to be ready to roll on Opening Day as long as he can avoid setbacks.
Mar 6 - 11:20 AM

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Friday that Stephen Vogt (foot) won't catch at the beginning of the Cactus League schedule.

That's been the anticipation. Vogt also will not play first base or the outfield at all during spring training as he works his way back from foot surgery. However, the A's are just being cautious here, as they fully expect him to be ready for Opening Day. Vogt is set to serve as the club's primary catcher in 2015.
Feb 20 - 12:30 PM

Stephen Vogt (foot) could initially be held out of catching during Cactus League games this spring.

Vogt is working his way back from foot surgery and might be limited to catching bullpen sessions for a while. He's at the top of the Athletics' depth chart at catcher, so obviously he can't wait too long before catching in games. Vogt isn't known for his defense behind the plate and figures to see a good amount of playing time at positions other than catcher in 2015.
Feb 8 - 1:32 PM

Stephen Vogt had the walking boot removed from his surgically-repaired right foot Thursday.

Vogt had surgery in October to repair the plantar plates in his foot. It's an injury he dealt with throughout the second half of the season and he noted Thursday that it's the first time since July he can put a shoe on his right foot and walk without any pain. Vogt will be fine for the start of spring training.
