Rangers sent INF Tommy Field outright to Triple-A Round Rock.

Field was designated for assignment by the Rangers at the end of May and passed through waivers without drawing a claim from another team. Field had hit just 195/.250/.366 in 41 at-bats this season with Texas.

Rangers designated infielder Tommy Field for assignment.

We'd take Field over Adam Rosales if we were in the Rangers' spot, but both are fringe guys. Field hit .195/.250/.366 in 41 at-bats while sharing time with Rosales at second base. This could be taken as a sign that Rougned Odor will be back in the majors soon. In the meantime, the Rangers still have Delino DeShields Jr. as an alternative to Rosales at second base.
May 30 - 3:30 PM

Rangers purchased the contract of INF Tommy Field from Triple-A Round Rock.

He's taking Rougned Odor's spot on the roster and is starting at second base Monday. Field, 28, was batting .298/.373/.538 with five homers at Round Rock. He should see a decent amount of playing time at second, although Adam Rosales figures to be the main guy there for now.
May 11 - 4:10 PM

Rangers signed INF Tommy Field to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Field turns 28 in February and batted .154 (4-for-26) in 15 games with the Angels this past season. He'll provide some infield depth in the spring.

Pirates designated INF Tommy Field for assignment.

The Pirates determined that Bobby LaFromboise was a better use of a 40-man roster spot than Field, who has just claimed off waivers earlier this month. It's possible he'll clear waivers and remain in the organization.

Pirates claimed INF Tommy Field off waivers from the Angels; optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Field has spent all season at the Triple-A level, hitting a solid .285/.351/.440 with seven homers and 33 RBI. He's just a depth addition.

Angels designated INF Tommy Field for assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Vinnie Pestano. Field has spent all season at Triple-A Salt Lake, hitting a solid .285/.351/.440 with seven homers and 33 RBI. He's nothing special, but Field could draw some interest from a team looking for a utility player.

With Salt Lake having been finished up their PCL playoff run, the Angels have re-stocked the big league roster. Field has three hits in 20 at-bats for the Halos this season.

Angels optioned INF Thomas Field to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The 26-year-old Field saw limited action in a utility role during his time with the Angels, going 2-for-16 (.125) plus a walk and five strikeouts. He'll continue to serve as organizational depth in the minor leagues.

Angels recalled INF Thomas Field from Triple-A Salt Lake.

The 25-year-old Field had been on quite a tear offensively the last month and a half, hitting nine homers since the beginning of June, and he will give the Angels a little more defense than Brendan Harris did in a utility role. Overall, he was batting .297/.390/.488 for Salt Lake, but his track record isn't nearly that good. He probably won't be of much help in AL-only leagues.
