Indians designated 1B Michael McDade for assignment.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Ezequiel Carrera. McDade, who is batting just .230/.313/.284 with no homers at Triple-A this season, will probably pass through waivers. Then again, he used to be a Blue Jay, so it's always possible Alex Anthopoulos will claim him.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of 1B Michael McDade from Double-A New Hampshire.

A former sixth-round pick, McDade .281/.328/.457 with 16 homers over 484 at-bats for New Hampshire this season. He'll need to progress more at the plate to turn into a real prospect, and the Jays are willing to let him occupy a spot on the 40-man roster to see if he can do just that.
