Pedro Hernandez recorded a win over the White Sox by surrendering three runs in 5 1/3 innings on Monday.

Hernandez was able to put together a decent outing against a Paul Konerko-less lineup tonight, but he's just too vulnerable to right-handed hitters to succeed as a starting pitcher. He's merely holding his spot warm for someone else.
May 13 - 11:51 PM

Pedro Hernandez will remain in the Twins' rotation for now.

Hernandez has been blasted for 11 runs over 7 1/3 innings in his last two outings, but the Twins aren't ready to give up on him yet. The lefty will have to shape up in a hurry, as Liam Hendriks, Samuel Deduno and Cole De Vries are options to replace him.
May 9 - 7:17 PM

Pedro Hernandez allowed six runs over two innings but avoided a loss Wednesday as the Twins topped the Red Sox.

Hernandez was staked leads of 4-0 and 11-5 but couldn't last long enough to pick up the easy win. The left-hander allowed a grand slam to Jonny Gomes in the first inning and a solo shot to Shane Victorino in the second before exiting. He hasn't been all that bad this year, but like most Twins pitchers he pitches to contact and offers little for fantasy purposes. His next scheduled start is Monday against the White Sox.
May 8 - 11:14 PM

Pedro Hernandez struggled in a no-decision against the Indians on Friday, surrendering five runs on eight hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Hernandez also issued four walks while striking out two in the game. Jason Kipnis got the Indians on the board with a two-run triple in the third inning, and Mark Reynolds added a two-run homer in the fourth to provide the bulk of the damage. Hernandez will carry a 3.92 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 9/8 K/BB ratio into Fenway Park where he’ll battle the Red Sox on Wednesday. He remains an unattractive option in most fantasy formats.
May 3 - 10:39 PM

Pedro Hernandez tossed five scoreless innings Saturday in the Twins' 7-2 win over the Rangers.

Hernandez yielded only five hits and a walk while fanning three. It was a surprising show of dominance from the 24-year-old left-hander, who entered play Saturday with a hideous 7.53 career ERA and 1.74 career WHIP. He should not be trusted in mixed fantasy leagues.
Apr 27 - 7:34 PM

Pedro Hernandez will be given another start following the demotion of Liam Hendriks.

Hernandez allowed three runs over five frames in a start on April 7 and then threw 4 1/3 innings of one-run relief on Friday. He left the relief outing with a left calf strain but reported improvement with the ailment on Saturday. Wednesday is looking likely for Hernandez's next start, though the Twins haven't decided for sure.
Apr 14 - 9:07 AM

Pedro Hernandez is considered day-to-day after leaving Friday's game against the Mets with a left calf strain.

Hernandez worked 4 1/3 innings in relief of Vance Worley, allowing one run on four hits while striking out one. He had already been a candidate to be demoted to Triple-A and the unfortunate timing of his injury could speed up that process.
Apr 12 - 11:03 PM

Twins recalled LHP Pedro Hernandez from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll get the ball against the Orioles on Sunday in place of the injured Cole De Vries. Hernandez posted a 3.32 ERA with 65 strikeouts over 103 innings between Double- and Triple-A last season. Fantasy owners can ignore him in what will be a spot start.
Apr 7 - 9:27 AM

The Twins will call up left-hander Pedro Hernandez to start Sunday against the Orioles.

He'll start in place of Cole De Vries, who will be placed on the disabled list with a forearm injury. Hernandez, who was acquired from the White Sox last year in the Francisco Liriano, was hit hard in a spot-start with Chicago last season and owns a 3.49 ERA over six seasons in the minors. He'll likely go right back down to the minors, as the Twins expect Scott Diamond (elbow) to join the rotation soon.
Apr 5 - 4:15 PM

Twins optioned LHP Pedro Hernandez to Triple-A Rochester.

Hernandez was unscored upon in 10 innings this spring, but that wasn't enough to win him a roster spot. He'll represent rotation depth at Triple-A.
Mar 22 - 9:11 AM

Twins recalled LHP Pedro Hernandez from Triple-A Charlotte.

Acquired from the White Sox in the Francisco Liriano deal, Hernandez put up a 3.32 ERA at Double- and Triple-A this season but also struck out just 65 over 103 innings. He'll likely return to Rochester next season.

Twins acquired LHP Pedro Hernandez and INF Eduardo Escobar from the White Sox for LHP Francisco Liriano.

Hernandez was shelled for eight runs on 12 hits over just four innings earlier this season in his major league debut and hasn't been back since. He has a cool 2.94 ERA this year on the farm, but he's also sporting a weak 5.7 K/9. The 23-year-old southpaw simply does not possess dominant stuff.

White Sox optioned LHP Pedro Hernandez to Triple-A Charlotte.

It comes as no surprise after Hernandez was battered by the Red Sox for eight runs on 12 hits over just four innings in his major league debut Wednesday. He'll return to a 2.90 ERA in the minors.

Pedro Hernandez was absolutely destroyed in his MLB debut against the Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing eight runs on 12 hits in just four innings of work.

He walked one while striking out two. Cody Ross single-handedly provided the majority of the damage, bashing a pair of three-run homers to put the game out of reach early. Hernandez came over from the Padres in the Carlos Quentin trade and put up a respectable 2.90 ERA over 80 2/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A before getting his shot in place of the injured Gavin Floyd. No announcement has been made yet, but it would be surprising if the 23-year-old lefty stuck around to make another turn in the rotation.
