Blue Jays purchased the contract of OF Junior Lake from Triple-A Buffalo.
Lake was removed from the 40-man roster prior to the season but is back on it even though he hit just .244/.328/.387 for Buffalo. He'll provide some outfield depth while Jose Bautista (toe) is out. Jun 24 - 4:00 PM

Blue Jays sent OF Junior Lake outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

The 26-year-old outfielder had a decent spring, hitting .256/.341/.385 with a pair of homers and four RBI, but was unable to secure a bench spot with the Jays. Given the current situations of some of the outfields around the league, there's a chance that he could refuse the assignment and look for work elsewhere.

Junior Lake doubled in one of his two at-bats Sunday in the Blue Jays' 7-3 defeat of the Rays.

Lake and Ezequiel Carrera entered camp as the favorites to be the Jays' fourth outfielder, and Lake has had the better spring, posting a .726 OPS compared to Carrera's .604 mark. That said, Darrell Ceciliani has been considerably better than both, and Lake also doesn't match up with Carrera defensively. It's still not clear in which direction the Jays will go.

Blue Jays claimed OF Junior Lake off waivers from the Orioles.

Lake was designated for assignment last week in order to free up a 40-man roster spot for Edgar Olmos. The 25-year-old is a great athlete but is a career .237/.278/.377 hitter over 664 major league plate appearances. He seems unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster.

The move was made to make room for Edgar Olmos on the 40-man roster. Lake had three hits, all doubles, in 22 at-bats with the O's after being acquired from the Cubs in July.

Orioles recalled OF Junior Lake from Triple-A Norfolk.

Acquired last week from the Cubs for Tommy Hunter, Lake is a career .241/.283/.380 hitter over parts of three seasons. He should see some playing time in the corner outfield spots, but we're not optimistic about his long-term prospects.

Orioles acquired OF Junior Lake from the Cubs in exchange for RHP Tommy Hunter.

Lake has shown power in spurts with the Cubs but is a career .241/.283/.380 hitter over parts of three seasons. He doesn't ever figure to have a big role in Baltimore.

The Cubs needed a fresh arm in the bullpen for Sunday's game against the Reds and Lake became the roster casualty. He should be back with the big league club in a reserve outfielder role before long.

Junior Lake hit a home run that sparked a benches-clearing altercation, but the Cubs still dropped Wednesday's game to the Marlins.

Lake drilled a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning, cutting the Marlins' lead to 6-2. He made a gesture towards the Marlins' dugout as if to shush them, starting the altercation. He remained in the game and finished 1-for-5. The homer was his first of the year and is now batting .250/.286/.425 with four RBI in 41 plate appearances. With Jorge Soler put on the disabled list Wednesday, Lake figures to see more playing time.
