Indians placed RHP Dan Otero on the paternity leave list.

He'll be excused for the next couple of games as he welcomes a new member of his family. Otero owns a cool 3.02 ERA and 33/9 K/BB ratio in 50 2/3 innings this season out of the Indians' bullpen.
Aug 30 - 10:21 AM

Dan Otero will be placed on the paternity leave list Wednesday.

Josh Tomlin is going to be activated off the disabled list in a corresponding 25-man roster move and will start the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees. Otero should return to the Indians' bullpen before the weekend.
Aug 29 - 4:18 PM

Dan Otero will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

That's assuming he's not needed in relief Friday or in the first game Saturday. It will be the first major league start for Otero, whose first 248 appearances in the big leagues all came as a reliever.

Indians and RHP Dan Otero avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.055 million contract.

Otero was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. He earned the nice raise by notching a cool 1.53 ERA over 70 2/3 frames in his first season in Cleveland. It was no fluke as the 31-year-old veteran has a 2.93 career ERA in 255 1/3 innings. While he's unlikely to see save chances in this stacked bullpen, he's a useful piece for Cleveland.
Jan 12 - 8:07 PM

Dan Otero worked around a two-out single and a two-out walk to pick up a surprise save in Wednesday's 8-7 win in extra innings over the Reds.

Otero has been productive in 2016. He owns a 1.20 ERA with a 11/3 K/BB in 15 innings. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect the right-hander to provide anymore saves this year; however, it's nice to see him settle into a comfortable middle-relief role for the Indians after a rough 2015 campaign.

Indians acquired RHP Dan Otero from the Phillies in exchange for cash considerations.

Otero had been designated for assignment last week. The veteran right-hander held a 6.75 ERA over 41 appearances for the A's last season but put up a 2.01 ERA in his previous two seasons. He has a decent chance to bounce back as a middle relief option.

Phillies designated RHP Dan Otero for assignment.

Otero, who was claimed off waivers from the Athletics in early November, was moved to create a spot on the 40-man roster for the recent additions from the Astros in the Ken Giles trade. There's a decent chance that another team will be willing to take a chance on Otero despite his poor 2015 season.

Phillies claimed RHP Dan Otero off waivers from the Athletics.

Otero, 30, had a rough 6.75 ERA over 41 appearances this season with Oakland. However, he had a 2.01 ERA in his previous two seasons and induces a ton of ground balls. He's a nice gamble for Philadelphia's bullpen.

Athletics recalled RHP Dan Otero from Triple-A Nashville.

Otero was just option to Triple-A last week, but he's back with the major league rosters expanding on Tuesday. In 30 appearances earlier this season, he held a tough 7.08 ERA. He'll try to redeem himself this month, assuming the A's actually toss him out there for work.

Athletics optioned RHP Dan Otero to Triple-A Nashville.

The A's sent him down to make room for closer Sean Doolittle, who is returning from a shoulder injury. Otero has posted an ugly 7.08 ERA in 30 appearances, though he could get another shot with the A's when rosters expand on September 1.
